This is the first ever review I’ve done because Ancient Hotel deserves it. I spent Christmas here with my family and all I can say is that it was a Christmas well spent. Ancient Hotel has an elegant and cozy decor, and the rooms are quite big. Shizuka, one of the hotel’s staff, was amazing and very helpful. In fact all of them were. Breakfast was excellent too. And the view of the snow, trees and the cute small birds from our room and the restaurant just added to the hotel’s charm. Although a bit far from the town and station, you can take advantage of the free shuttle to the hotel and back in the morning and afternoon, so distance was not an issue at all.

Wonderful experience! In spite of we didn’t have the meal in hotel but we still very enjoy to stay inside. There is no TV in the room but the guest can rent vinyl record player and enjoy the beer for free! Hospitality service, unique room, all the atmosphere was really great! VERY ELEGANT!

The staff was amazing and were very attentive for every single moment! We are junior consultants who were invited to stay at Ancient Hotel by our gracious host and their recommendation was perfect! I started in the Amber room which was the exact traditional yet contemporary Japanese experience I’ve always wanted. The meals (dinner and breakfast) was incredible! I wish I had more time to explore, but the staff ensured we got as much in as possible. I e got to view the stars with the kind gentleman who knows about astronomy, we got to celebrate our fellow junior consultants birthday at Ancient Hotel, and of course got to enjoy the onsen! The cozy atmosphere was the perfect time to get to know our clients better as well as socialize in a familiar and comforting manner. I hope to return soon and enjoy more of the outdoors and everything Ancient Hotel has to offer in the future.

This is an extraordinary place that exceeded our expectations. The staff could not have done more to make our stay memorable. We would especially like to thank Shizuoka who went out of her way to explain the amazing supper and could not have been kinder. I would suggest contacting the hotel directly to make a reservation.

Been here in 2018 before covid. It’s been 5 years my family is back in this hotel again. This time , we stayed with my son in Amber room. Room is clean n tidy n soothing with the music on whn we stepped in. Wanna send our greatest thank to Ms Shizuka, a young jap lady manager, to make us feel so much at home. Even at meal, she patiently explained all ingredients that made up the courses. She speaks very gd English n helpful too. Thanks Ms Shizuka with love.

Fantastic Japanese hospitality from the moment we arrived. The hotel is nestled in a picturesque location and the interior decor corresponds to the local aesthetic in a very tasteful way, allowing you feel the real Kurizawa! Throughout our stay we wanted for nothing and the staff were so kind and helpful with their explanations - especially the restaurant ones who went out of their way to help us understand each dish. Would definitely revisit again in a heartbeat and look forward to my next escape from Tokyo there!

We wanted to do something special for the anniversary of my partner so decided to stay in Karuizawa at Ancient Hotel, which was a great choice. The establishment has its unique style of decoration, and every room its own architecture, making for a true romantic gateaway. The staff was incredibly helpful and the dinner course delicious. We both look forward t our next trip there.

会社と取引先の方々と宿泊しました。 私は黒玉の間に宿泊しましたが、 レトロチックなレコードプレーヤがありました。 他の社員の部屋も石臼があったりと、それぞれ興味深い部屋ばかり。 全種類の部屋に泊まりたいくらいの作り込み。料理ももちろんたまらなく旨い。館内の至るところの間接照明が醸し出す雰囲気は 日常のストレスを癒してくれる。 薪ストーブのあるガレージでのお酒も最高。 スタッフさんも、とても親切で居心地の良い空間を提供して下さりました。 また、いつの日か、会いに行きたいと思います。ちょいと表現的にコンプライアンス違反スレスレの星の王子？様に。

誕生日のお祝いに連れてきてもらいました。お部屋のBGMにバースデーソングが流れ、サプライズで花束と、フルーツの詰め合わせがジュエリーのように飾られていて、とても素敵でした。スタッフの方の感じもとてもよく、素晴らしい思い出になりました。お部屋がとにかく可愛くて、ホテル全体の雰囲気もよく癒されました。また特別な日に伺いたいです。
