Visited KC from New Zealand in June 23 with 2 things in mind, catching a Royals game and Tim Magraw in concert. The concert was a 10 minute walk away so it was the perfect place. The public tram stopped right outside so it was great to take us to museums and the market. The room was great, spacious shower and the concierge Robert was fantastic. Greeted with a big smile and the 3 days we were there that smile never left his face. Great restaurant Loeu'.s across the road made the Courtyard a great place to stay, The valet parking was very prompt and always friendly staff. The fresh cookies on arrival and when we returned every day were very good. Thank you to all inolved.

The room is large, cost-effective, and the transportation is very convenient, highly recommended!
An Art Deco masterpiece in the heart of downtown, the Hotel Phillips is a popular choice with guests who appreciate the charm and character of a grand and historic hotel. The hotel's address was once occupied by a haberdashery operated by President Harry S. Truman and his brother. Today, the hotel's top floor suite is named in his honor.
Built in the 1930's, this 20-story luxury hotel, a national landmark, continues to exude all the elegance of the period with modern amenities. Many of the original details remain, including the walnut paneling, intricate metalwork, 20-story mail chute, Art Deco light fixtures and a gilded winged statue of the goddess Dawn.
The 216 rooms are cozy, characteristic of a historic hotel, and comfortable, with modern amenities such as complimentary WiFi, multiple charging outlets, flat screen TVs, plump duvets, high-end linens, C.O Bigelow bath products and Keurig coffee.
The hotel's highly celebrated restaurant, Tavernonna Italian Kitchen, serves chef driven breakfast and dinner menus and happy hour, Sneak down to the 1930's inspired speakeasy bar, P.S., through the hidden entrance near the front desk for craft cocktails and small bites.
Additional amenities include a business center, room service, a 24-hour gym, massages available by appointment, and event space rental available by reservation with the sales team. Valet parking is available for a fee.
Right in the middle of downtown, Hotel Phillips is one block from the Power & Light District, eight lively blocks of restaurants, nightclubs and theaters, one block from the city's streetcar, and six blocks from the Sprint Center, ranked third in the US among sports arenas. The airport is 19 miles away.
More than just a hotel, the Hotel Phillips is an experience, a step back in time to a more gracious era. Everyone deserves that experience, if only for a night.

I was close to changing hotels prior to staying based on poor reviews, but decided because of the location we could deal with any issues that may have been unsatisfactory. Good thing we kept our reservations here as their wasn't anything unsatisfactory about the trip. The front desk team was very nice and quick to get more towels or anything needed. The Shower was amazing which consistently stayed hot and high water pressure for 4 of us to use back to back. The location is very convenient to all of the downtown activities. They have a shuffleboard table in the lobby that we played often. We went to the PS Speakeasy in the basement of the hotel that was nice. The Restaurant located on site was easy to get drinks at. Valet parking is $30-$35, but we self parked at the garage next door for $18 and easy to get to. The only comment I would make is I wish they had a pantry as we had $30 F&B credit per day, but did not get to use a days worth based on our flight schedule, it would have been nice to use it.

The hotel was great!! It was very clean, updated, and close enough to walk to the power and light district. Beware of the parking garage right next to the hotel that cost $18 to park though. Our catalytic converter was cut and stolen straight off our car. It seems to be a recurring crime in KC right now!!

GGuest UserThis hotel is in the area near where I needed to be this weekend and it was clean. I will be staying again as I will need to return to the area.
I did have a mishap in that housekeeping cleaned the room but didn't make the beds. I had to leave to get to my performance venue about an hour after checking in, so I went to tell the front desk. The receptionist was very accommodating in getting someone up to my room ASAP, and they were made when I later returned. Thanks!
Also, I think one of the elevators isn't working, so you might have to wait a little longer. Had I stayed longer, I would have found the stairs.
GGuest UserWe are finishing up a road trip of around 4,500 miles through eleven states. We have stayed at ten hotels, four of which were Holiday Inn Expresses, and this is, by far the worst not only Holiday Inn Express but the worst out of all of them. And, in fact, it's the worst hotel I can remember staying at in a very long time. When we checked in (2 rooms), I found the trash can in the bathroom sitting on the counter. Then my daughter called saying that there was something sticky all over the nightstand in her room and when she tried to call the front desk, she discovered that the phone didn't work. She also found popcorn on the floor in the room. She called them on her cell phone, and they said they'd send someone to clean and their excuse was that they were undergoing renovations. How in the heck do renovations impact the cleanliness of a room?About that time, the fire alarm went off. We were in the lobby, so we went outside and waited. Eventually the alarm stopped. We went inside and got in line to ask for a new room for my daughter. There was one lady helping a line of customers while some guy ran around like a chicken with its head cut off accomplishing nothing. After a while, he went to the other computer at the front desk, and we were able to talk to him. I found out later that he was the General Manager which I would never have guessed from his obvious lack of leadership ability or composure. We explained to him the situation and he said he'd sent someone to clean the room (Shouldn't that be done before the room is turned over to a customer?) but that the phone couldn't be repaired until Monday because Maintenance wasn't available on the weekends. He told us that we could have another room or could cancel the reservation. I though he was very condescending and rude. We opted for another room and then he told us that it would be on the fourth floor (dirty room was on the second floor) and that we'd have to carry our bags up because the elevators wouldn't work until the fire department got there and reset them. (I heard him later telling the firemen that arrived that he'd silenced the alarm. Shouldn't it be the fire department that makes sure the building is safe and gives the green light for people to reenter the premises?) We told him we could handle getting the luggage up the stairs and that we'd like to check out the new room. He gave us a key and we did so and found it to be satisfactory although the remote for the TV didn't work. (In the old room, the back of the remote was missing.) In my room, I later discovered that someone had written in pen on the arm of the sofa, an outlet was black from some sort of electrical issue that apparently caused arcing and the sink in the bathroom drained ridiculously slowly. Apparently housekeeping doesn't report maintenance needs to management or maybe they do, and management just doesn't address the issues??? As far as breakfast service, it was by far the worst of any Holiday Inn Express we stayed at on
GGuest UserI’ve now stayed at almost every 21C hotel (I haven’t been to Iowa). Gets an overall five stars with some stronger points and some weaker points. Strong: the artwork this time around was poignant, the thought provoking, and cohesive. The restaurant and restaurant staff were outstanding (The Savoy, reviewed separately). Their room service was awesome too. The beds at 21C have always been comfy and I like their toiletry products. Weaker: The front desk staff was a mixed bag. Generally helpful and nice, but I was received more coolly here than some other places. Housekeeping. I 1000% understand we are still struggling with COVID and the economy and labor issues. And I don’t know who had my room previously, but there were several small shards of glass in the seating area, there was a pair of underwear behind the couch (which I didn’t touch and left there), and I somehow found a pair of dried up old contact lenses on the bedspread. Please note, the room was generally clean and well appointed, but the three things I mentioned were pretty big things. Also, if we aren’t going to go back to having minibars (which I’m fine with), can we have mini fridges in the rooms? I get you’re trying to up-sell room service, but I would just like to be able to chill my water or have something cool to drink without asking for a (too small) bucket of ice. Would stay again. The positive far outweighs the negative. Tip: no valet parking, but there is a garage across the street that charges 10 bucks a night.
GGuest UserOverall the experience at the hotel was very good, however, check in was lengthy and I had another issue at checkout I'll explain later. There was only one lady at the front managing to check in a long line of people. I can only imagine that they are still short staffed after Covid times. I had checked in 24 hours prior and chosen a room on my phone app, but our room was not ready and was given another. No problem..just glad to get one after the wait. The lady was pleasant checking us in but never apologized for the wait or welcomed us as Diamond members. Room was small but overall clean. Would have liked to have a comfortable chair to sit in but not one in the room. Breakfast was a buffet and overall average/good. Now the part not so good...apparently Hilton is now giving credits for breakfasts for (Gold & Diamond levels). It's put into your account to be used to offset the amount you spent. The amount can be different depending on the hotel. In most cases you will end of paying more due to taxes. I find this offensive and in my case the bookkeeping got messed up and it ended up being added in rather than taken out. I had to end up calling the hotel on two occasions to get it worked out...but it did happen. I appreciated the help of JoAnn and Robert and the bookkeeping department. In addition when checking out, I received my statement, it only showed parking that was owed. I was assured that the breakfast & credits were already sorted out. That was not the case as I found out a day later. Because Hilton President did handle my situation quickly I gave a very good rating!
KKaty JWe will be back to this lovely hotel tucked into a park-like corner of Kansas City. It’s just steps from the Plaza and a quick walk to local restaurants and shops in Westport. Helpful and speedy valet service. Thanks Stephen! Soon the free trolley will extend to this neighborhood opening up a whole new way to get around.
ZZHOUThe location is ok. There are ATMs. The price is very cheap, the room is nice, clean and bright. Breakfast is ok, worth the price. The room is very quiet. There is a convenience store 300 meters nearby. There are not many restaurants around. The boss is nice and helps send and receive couriers. recommend.
On 06/13/2024, my family checked in the hotel in room 217. The room appeared very cleaned; my granddaughter decided to rest. She pull the cover back and saw a small bug crawling in the bed & the sheets & mattress were very soiled & dirty. After checking on google lens, it revealed it was a bedbug. I took it to the front desk clerk. She ask for the cup & refused to give it back. Also, she refused to provide her name. She stated, she will refund all of our money and she proceeded to check us out. After checking my credit card statement, she charged my card. I will be disputing it with my credit card company. Bedbug problem at Microtel by Hilton- Kansas City Airport in Room 217. Please stay away!!!
