Our room was full of ants and the mini-fridge kept us both awake throughout the night it was so loud. We waited over a hour to get our food when eating in their, mostly empty, dining hall. We rented two bicycles for one hour, at a charge of $26, and they were both broken down to the point of being unsafe. The majority of the boardwalk was closed for repairs, despite the website saying it would be open for the weekend we booked. The patio was full of spider webs. The method in which they charged my card was convoluted. I am careful with my debit card so I asked ahead of time how much money I needed to have available on it, they told me an amount so I made sure I had that available. Then they charged my card, that charge was “on hold” on my account, then charged me again after we checked out and emailed me very sternly when the charge was declined. When I spoke to a manager about all this, after calling about the declined charge, she did not mention any kind of refund or restitution. She simply said their accounting department will be in touch with me tomorrow. I really enjoy that park, but I will not be staying there again and would not recommend it to anyone else. On top of all that, the hot tubs were old and gross, the roof looks like it is in disrepair and there was a giant crack in the cement foundation above my patio that didn’t exactly inspire confidence.

The room was clean and the shower out of this world. The pool was a lot of fun with the splash pad. The breakfast in the restaurant was very good as well. We enjoyed the walking paths and the short trail as the long one will open later this spring. Having coffee available all day is nice.

It's amazing. four fireplaces. You can sit by and just relax. The restaurant had a very good breakfast. A lot of things for the kids to do splash pad, pool and hot tub was amazing. Great staff going back the spring or summer? I write everything there. A 10 plus plus really enjoyed the weekend and family time 😁

This is one of the most beautiful, classy, charming state park lodges all over the country. We were only there for one night and wished we could have stayed longer. Our room was very clean, well stocked, and the private balcony over looked their spacious pool & Lake Erie. Their restaurant was very good for breakfast. We tried to have dinner too but encountered an issue, so unfortunately we didn’t. The GM made it right & assured us it was unusual & rare. We will gladly return! We look forward to both staying again & having dinner in their lovely Lakeview dining room!

What an amazing place to stay! We were here to visit the various wildlife refuges nearby and enjoy the trails at the park. We were not disappointed. The designers of the lodge managed to make a modern building airy and rustic at the same time. Comfortable seating arrangements are tucked around the lodge, although a coveted one is in front of the two-sided fireplace. It appears as if the lodge has been updated in terms of colors as there is a lot of trendy gray around, including our room. The carpets all seemed new, though that could be from excellent cleaning. Our room was fantastic. We were in #152, which directly faces Lake Erie. Not a slanting view, just smack on, looking at two beautiful trees holding branch hands, and a stellar view of the lake. Two chairs outside our patio door would have provided a nice place to sit, but the first night, mosquitoes were active and drove us indoors, and the next night rain, soaked the chairs, making them unusable. Even the eave above our room couldn't prevent the rain from reaching the chairs. The bathroom was huge with two sinks at opposite ends of the wall. It was great! The shower was modern and a walk-in. The only sign that the building is from the '90s is the patio door which is showing its age and needs replacing. We ate at the dining room one night, and were practically the only people there. Service was excellent, and the food was delicious. We both had walleye. Breakfast was buffet style, and the first day the food was pretty dried out because we got there after the food had been drying out for awhile. The second day, we were there when the restaurant opened, and the food was fresh. Service was perfect at both breakfasts. The buffet is the only option for breakfast. We absolutely loved this place and will come back.

Room was showing age and not properly cleaned (there was Gatorade left from last guest). Balcony and glass door was filthy. Host at restaurant needs training and was near comical how inept he was. Bicycle chain fell off twice during rental time. Sidewalks poorly maintained and grass growing up through cracks.

We were very pleased with the welcoming of the front desk and how they helped us with anything we needed. We did have one request during our stay of three days they applied insecticide to the outside patio. I ask what they used and no-one could tell me. I ask at the front desk they called Maintenance and they did not know. I'm a trained Applicator (ID#21322) and we are to post what we are applying and information the owners of what is used and how much. Recording the Temperature, Wind, and Time. I thought it was odd no one knew what was happening. Your housekeeping staff was Great and very helpful. The breakfast in the Restaurant was also very good. We had 112 people and they were very accommodating.

The lodge is beautiful but there was no place nearby to eat. We stayed on Mother's Day. When I made my lodge reservation, I also made a dinner reservation for 5:00. When we went to the restaurant, we found it closed for the day. There were two other couples who also showed up for a 5:00 reservation for dinner. We were all told that they were sorry for the confusion but the restaurant was closed and we could eat in the lounge. We went to the lounge and the ONLY thing on the menu was veggie pizza or meat lovers pizza. Nothing else but pizza was available. The next morning we returned to the restaurant for breakfast. It was buffet only. The "buffet" consisted of scrambled eggs, potatoes, pancakes, fruit bowl or cereal. There was no toast, yogurt, pastries, etc. We were charged $14. each for this pitiful buffet. The free buffets at chain hotels offer much more. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. If you are staying here, you need to plan on driving to Toledo to eat. It is impossible to truly enjoy yourself when you're starving.
