We booked dinner in the restaurant and we were blown away by the friendly staff and by the great food. It’s advisable to book a table and you can see why. It was very busy but the service was efficient and friendly. The bar is well stocked and they also have a whiskey bar which has literally hundreds of different kinds. We will definitely return to this hotel and probably book to stay as well. Would definitely recommend

We actually only tried the restaurant and it was really good. I loved the way it looked so cozy and warm like it was in a cave with stone walls. We tried red ale for the first time and it was yum! We had their prawn cocktail and roasted cauliflower and everything tasted amazing! Our server Conor was super friendly and attentive. I wish we had a pub like this where we live here in the US.

The George Hotel is the Jewel in the Crown of Inveraray accommodation. A welcoming interior to the Hotel does not prepare you for the treat that awaits you if you choose to stop in the Merchants Suite. A room that boasts a double whirlpool bath , large very comfortable bed a no expense spared double shower with rain shower heads, furnishings that compliment the period décor, a very well appointed suite indeed. The bar area is very well finished in a rustic style which compliments the building in general. The food offering is not a cheap affair but it is well worth its cost and does not disappoint. A very enjoyable stay indeed , a one night break in the captivating town of Inveraray.

We stayed at The George again and had a lovely time. From the offset we were welcomed with open arms and the lovely lady at reception even got a kiss from Harry our Cairn terrier. The suite was immaculate and Harry particularly liked the window seat looking out to the beer garden below. The service was impeccable and the food was lovely albeit far too much. The general atmosphere never disappoints and we look forward to going back again soon. It is a wee treat but sometimes we all deserve a treat and an escape and The George certainly is both.

Had a wonderful lunch at the on site tavern. Can highly recommend the West Beer and the Haggis. Others is my party soups and fish and chips and very much enjoyed them. A great location in Invernaray. The service was very good and the dining room is very cool 18th century vibe

The hotel, restaurant and pub is located on the water right in the center of town and is within walking distance of Inverary Castle and Gardens. It is surrounded by shops. We stayed one night and the entire staff: registration desk, wait staff and bartenders were friendly, helpful and professional. We enjoyed the wood/peat fire in the pub fireplace with a pre-dinner whisky tasting and then had a great meal in the dining room. Parking was free in the lot next door and the noon check out time felt luxurious.

Great lunch stop in a truly Contry Inn with open coal fire . We order from the Specials Board. My companion lunch dish was the Langoustines for a starter or you could choose for a main meal with fries . This was served with garlic butter and side order of bread and butter. Cooked just right. Sweet taste of the sea. Prawn Cocktail was also excellent too with large prawns on crispy lettuce dressed with a creamy Mary Rose Sauce. The host was superb. He managed the floor so organised and with excellent chat and customer service. Stayed here a long time ago and it’s still fantastic. Can wait to return and stay over.

Beautiful room and an excellent stay for our honeymoon. Amazing view of the Loch from our bedroom window. Dinner was really delicious and our dinner waiters were excellent, really friendly and informative. We had one very rude barman who upset the evening a little but not enough to ruin our stay or mark down. We would love to visit again.

Had a very pleasant stay at The George as part of a motorcycle group touring around Scotland. Parking is on gravel in tight area to the back of the hotel or on tarmac in a side street. Very welcoming reception and very quaint rooms. Old style, creaking floors and rustic furniture in keeping with the history of the hotel. We had a lovely room to the front. Be aware there are many steps in the hotel to the bar areas, terrace etc..and in the rooms ( into the bathroom) which may be difficult for those with mobility issues. Several bar areas and eating areas. Food was very good and breakfast was plentiful. Location is excellent with stunning views.
