This is a wonderful hotel where you can feel the history of Denmark. There is a spa in the basement where you can relax. The view from the room is also very good, so you can relax and enjoy yourself. It is also a great location, as the Louisiana Museum of Art is nearby. You can have an experience that you can only get here.

It's in the countryside, with a very nice atmosphere. The golf course and horses are great. close to the beach. Very suitable for walking.

Definitely not a Castle. I wouldn't recommend this place for holiday travelers as this is clearly a hotel used for business conferences or large corporate travel. There are hardly any rooms in the manor house, most rooms are in the annex-- former horse stables. Everything starts early-- 7-9 am for breakfast and dinner ends around 9pm with bar closing at 10pm. Again, work hours. At the time, our safe was broken, shower drained was clogged, and no mini bar. They monatize all amenities and there was barely any hospitality. We were lucky to have rented a car, so we did not have to spend a lot of time there.

My husband was really in shock when the old lady ahead of him in line was denied check in because the time was 14:55, not 15:00. In other word 5 minutes!!! That really was a shame. Two minutes later my husband was able to check in, by that time the lady had obediently gone to sit down and wait. So to some positive impressions: The building itself is very impressive. It’s very peaceful and it’s like a fairytale with the horses and the green fields around. The staff at the bar-particularly one young guy was really service minded. He was actually the one sweet person in the whole hotel that was outstanding. Speaking of the bar- the building and decor is really nice but whoever was in charge of furnishings in the bar should find a new job. Everything looks like it’s thrown in there or that it is a furniture store where they try to sell you chairs. Furniture should be grouped together creating an intimate atmosphere because that’s what the room deserves. Get rid of 1/4 of the chairs there and it will be more inviting. Disappointed with our room that was in a building away from the castle. Room was very small. Glad we only stayed one night. Bathroom shower was built in a way causing water all over the floor. Water temperature was constantly changing and suddenly scolding. Good stuff was the thick fluffy towels and lovely smelling soap. No body lotion. There is a gym on the premises. Believe it or not- it costs 95 DKK pr person pr hour to use for hotel guests!! This place sure knows how to milk your money. Also if you want a cappuccino for breakfast there is a charge. Breakfast was ok. Nothing special but the basic stuff. On the positive side- the orange juice was really good. Freshly squeezed and not watered out. We did not eat at the hotel due to the menu and prices and went 10 min by car down to the harbor instead. We did not regret that at all. We had a good night sleep but someone next door was up at 5 making a lot of noise so with lack of insulation we woke up too. All in all 3 stars for the surroundings and for the great guy in the bar. Would we come back? Nah, I don’t think so.

If you have any business in the area or if you are a couple or group looking for romantic and royal surroundings, I can recommend this unique place. A castle like manor, antique interior and a very nice staff make the stay a pleasant experience. I stayed in the annex/guesthouse building, which have comfy rooms and from a "secret" passage way in the basement there is direct access to spa facilities and the main building where you will have a quality breakfast. I have not felt this exclusive or slept so well in a long time.

Stayed overnight at Kokkedal castle and booked a single deluxe room in a main building. Ample parking space and smooth check-in experience, however, upon entering my room, the key didn’t work so I need to run down and ask for a check to get it active again, and it did. The room was good enough for solo traveler. The lighting in the room giving a warm tone and I get a room with fantastic view over the golf course and a peek of the ocean. A good single size bed and comfortable linens. I had a goodnight sleep. Do bear in mind, as it’s a historical building that’s dated from 1700s, therefore their fixtures could make a little noise and watch your head for low sections wall in the room. The forest in the surrounding however, definitely worth a trail and it’ll leads you down to a nearby Rungsted harbor where you can find local restaurants, local beach and Karen Blixen museum. The breakfast room located in their cellar and the buffet is sufficient enough to give you some energy to start your morning. Overall, it was a good overnight stay and would like to try their spa facilities or perhaps their bigger room next time. If you have an appreciation of historical places, then this is one of a place worth a visit.

Children are not allowed on the restaurant for dinner even when staying at the hotel. Told the only option for families with children was to eat in the room. Then to make the experience even worse were told that they were not even sure there was any food available to serve in the room. All this while we mentioned the family was there to celebrate a family birthday. There was no information about children not being allowed in the booking confirmation. Rude responses, no apologies and simply stubborn attitude that this is how they do it. A simply horrible hotel and restaurant experience. Avoid this hotel and restaurant if you are traveling with children. We travel a lot and know there are plenty of other hotels and restaurants that allow children, including 5-star and Michelin starred ones.

We so wanted this hotel to be a good experience for our anniversary. While the location is exquisite, surly front desk staff doing double duty as "concierge" left us without travel support, and so very disappointed. There are so many wonderful hotel and castle options in Denmark staffed by competent hospitality professionals, try to avoid Kokkedal Castle to keep your happiness level high.

Arrived 24th January and left 28th January. Hotel is set in a quiet and secluded location. The hotel has been sympathetically restored using reproduction furniture. Room has no telephone to reception and no tea/coffee making facilities. Only 2 bottles of water in the fridge. Bed comfy and room was cosy. The safe did not work and we reported it immediately. It was only rectified on our penultimate day. On returning late on day 2 we found the bed unmade, no fresh towels...in fact no maid service at all. Reception desk said they thought we were only stopping one night, so the room had been left. We'd booked for 4 nights, so no excuse. The best receptionist could offer was clean towels. Day 3 we returned to collect a gift for our son's graduation. Our key cards had been deactivated so we couldn't get in. Receptionist said it happens alot! If this is the case, why wouldn't you endeavour to find the cause? After sorting this out we were late to his graduation meal. Day 4 we had to ask for replenishment of toilet paper. I wrote down our grievances to the manager and on our last night we were left a bottle of Cava and 6 chocolates. I don't think we would have got this had I not put pen to paper. The staff really don't seem to care what the issue is, well after all the hotel has had our money so why would they? The American waiter at breakfast was their saving grace, he really went the extra mile to engage with us. They should perhaps promote him, as he was very professional. We had worked hard to save for this holiday and my husband who is very ill had not physically seen our son since 2020, so we were so looking forward to it. We have honestly had better service at Scandic Hotels. For a high end boutique hotel they really need to up their game. The locals told us service has declined since new ownership.
