It's a relatively good local hotel. Because I was on a business trip, I had been staying here before the epidemic.
The overall environment is satisfactory and the hotel service is also very considerate. I will come back again after a few years.

Seth was a fantastic shuttle driver! He was so flexible when we changed our mind on where we were going. He’s friendly and kind and I felt so safe with him driving our especially our friend that is pregnant. He helped her and out of the van. It is such a great amenity to have the shuttle.
An Art Deco masterpiece in the heart of downtown, the Hotel Phillips is a popular choice with guests who appreciate the charm and character of a grand and historic hotel. The hotel's address was once occupied by a haberdashery operated by President Harry S. Truman and his brother. Today, the hotel's top floor suite is named in his honor.
Built in the 1930's, this 20-story luxury hotel, a national landmark, continues to exude all the elegance of the period with modern amenities. Many of the original details remain, including the walnut paneling, intricate metalwork, 20-story mail chute, Art Deco light fixtures and a gilded winged statue of the goddess Dawn.
The 216 rooms are cozy, characteristic of a historic hotel, and comfortable, with modern amenities such as complimentary WiFi, multiple charging outlets, flat screen TVs, plump duvets, high-end linens, C.O Bigelow bath products and Keurig coffee.
The hotel's highly celebrated restaurant, Tavernonna Italian Kitchen, serves chef driven breakfast and dinner menus and happy hour, Sneak down to the 1930's inspired speakeasy bar, P.S., through the hidden entrance near the front desk for craft cocktails and small bites.
Additional amenities include a business center, room service, a 24-hour gym, massages available by appointment, and event space rental available by reservation with the sales team. Valet parking is available for a fee.
Right in the middle of downtown, Hotel Phillips is one block from the Power & Light District, eight lively blocks of restaurants, nightclubs and theaters, one block from the city's streetcar, and six blocks from the Sprint Center, ranked third in the US among sports arenas. The airport is 19 miles away.
More than just a hotel, the Hotel Phillips is an experience, a step back in time to a more gracious era. Everyone deserves that experience, if only for a night.

I was close to changing hotels prior to staying based on poor reviews, but decided because of the location we could deal with any issues that may have been unsatisfactory. Good thing we kept our reservations here as their wasn't anything unsatisfactory about the trip. The front desk team was very nice and quick to get more towels or anything needed. The Shower was amazing which consistently stayed hot and high water pressure for 4 of us to use back to back. The location is very convenient to all of the downtown activities. They have a shuffleboard table in the lobby that we played often. We went to the PS Speakeasy in the basement of the hotel that was nice. The Restaurant located on site was easy to get drinks at. Valet parking is $30-$35, but we self parked at the garage next door for $18 and easy to get to. The only comment I would make is I wish they had a pantry as we had $30 F&B credit per day, but did not get to use a days worth based on our flight schedule, it would have been nice to use it.

I really wanted to be okay with this hotels treatment of myself and my family but I just can’t in good conscience not warn others about our experience that almost cost us our early morning flight traveling w two small children and a lot of baggage after a 2 1/2 week trip around MO and AR visiting relatives. Upon check in we were informed that there were no more early morning shuttles available. Mind you we needed a shuttle for 4/4:30 in the morning. We were very surprised. I’ve never had to reserve a shuttle more than 24 hours in advance before. There were no alerts to this on the website or while I was booking that the shuttle was “first come first serve” or that you should reserve it more than a day in advance if you want an early morning spot. The only reason we booked this hotel as it was expensive for what you get (and we have relatives that live near the airport) was bc of the shuttle. We didn’t want to inconvenience my family to drive us to the airport so early. There was another guest checking in along side us who was also pretty upset about the shuttle situation so the girl working the front desk gave us a discount on our nightly rate and then a number for a cab company that you could schedule pickups in advance with. She assured us it was good and reliable. I was not thrilled, but okay with this compromise. But pretty nervous about it as I had never used this particular service before. The beds were really comfy and so we slept well. Alarm went off in the morning and we got ready. The cab was supposed to call us when it pulled up at 4am. No call comes. Noticed my phone had sent a call to my voicemail marked as spam. Call the number back and the cabby is late. Okay, no big deal. We go ahead and walk down to the lobby. Thirty more minutes go by and no phone call. At this point I’m minor panicking. I’m looking at Ubers and there is a substantial wait. I go ahead and schedule one just in case even though this will mean that we will only have an hour to check in and get through security. At the KC airport you really need two hours. The guy at the counter of the hotel is watching me struggle with all of this. A woman comes down for her shuttle ride around 4:45. She asks why we don’t ride her shuttle with her? I tell her because all of the early morning shuttles were reserved. Finally the front desk guy tells us we can get on this one. And that no, not all of the shuttle rides were full. Just maybe the 4am one 😳. If that were true, why in the world wouldn’t the girl that was working the day before have mentioned to us that there were multiple other rides available if we wanted to wait til 4:15/4:30 WHATEVER?? The shuttle pulled up at about 10 til 5am and we scurry onto it. I cancel my Uber and have to pay for it anyways bc he was only 5 minutes out. We get to the airport and it’s super busy. We somehow jumped through the “special” line by pure dumb luck and were lucky enough that security let us ju

Very satisfied with the stay, the hotel has just been renovated, about 5-10 minutes walk from the union station, turn left from the station gate and turn left, you can see it from afar, very conspicuous. The front desk is on the 2nd floor. If the night arrives too late, you need to press the intercom outside the main entrance of the 1st floor to let the front desk open. A few front desks are very welcoming, not a super metropolis hotel is not the same. Breakfast is similar to other hotels, that is, many things need to be heated by themselves, which is very interesting. There is also a canteen at the front desk, and snacks are big. My room is equipped with a microwave and a large fridge. The windows in the room need to be opened before the main power switch of the door is opened. When I left, let the front desk help me find the rental, and the rental fee was reasonable, very good.

I stayed here with an out-of-town friend on a long weekend. This is a newer property and well-kept. Our queen suite was very spacious with a small refrigerator (no freezer, however), microwave, and mini coffeemaker. The bathroom was spacious with plenty of counter space. No face cloths were provided and we had to ask the front desk for some. One outlet on the nightstand was not working. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. There was no dresser but rather a side/sofa table with two drawers and a shelf underneath for storage, but more drawers would have been helpful given the length of our stay. The walk-in closet was spacious and additional hangers were provided upon request as there were only a few in the closet. A large flat-screen TV was mounted on the wall between the bedroom and the sofa. We were shocked on the last night of our stay when we put the TV back in place that it fell off the wall! Panic! Upon talking to the hotel manager the following morning, we were told that there was an ongoing lawsuit against a contractor who did not use anchors when installing televisions, towel bars, etc. My friend and I were concerned about the safety of guests, especially children, if something like a heavy TV could fall off a wall! We hope the hotel management/owner has taken steps to mitigate this safety issue.

Outstanding
I stayed at the Loews in June 2024 for a conference. The conference facilities, including the catered food for breakfast and lunch, were top notch. The space, layout, and room for side conversations was good. I'd happily have a conference there again. As for the rooms, the double queen room I was in was great. The beds were comfortable, the linens clean, the pillows plentiful. The light hygiene for the room was a solid 98% and only thing missing is that the blackout curtains don't quite close all of the way. Nothing that the clamps from the hanger in the closet couldn't fix. The downstairs bar was well stocked, and slightly understaffed. Despite that, a good hangout for post conference discussions.
What a fantastic surprise! We came to visit family and ended up sending 4th of July grilling at the hotel (they had a gas grill and provided spatula and grill fork)! My kids enjoyed the pool. My son and his cousin enjoyed the basketball court. The entire family was able to enjoy dinner on the patio and the move in to the dining hall. Wonderful room that was comfortable and spacious, as well as other facilities! Great trip! This is the only place we will stay when we come back!
GGuest UserWe were so surprised! Very nice hotel, nicer than higher class brands we have stayed at lately! CLEAN, updated, good breakfast. CLOSE to Arena, convenience wins it out. Rooms were dark, bed not the most comfortable (but clean is what matters!), not much for seating. One desk chair, otherwise just the beds, small window but overall highly recommend! Staff very nice. I would recommend to the company, a luggage holder for the room. Yes there was a large closet, and a long counter/bench to set your luggage on, however there was nothing by the bathroom. We were traveling with our kids, so I had to keep my bag in the middle of the room, after getting out of the shower I had to walk into the room to get all my stuff. I thought if only I had something to put my luggage on right outside the bathroom. None of these ”complaints” would warrant losing a start though.
GGuest UserWe are finishing up a road trip of around 4,500 miles through eleven states. We have stayed at ten hotels, four of which were Holiday Inn Expresses, and this is, by far the worst not only Holiday Inn Express but the worst out of all of them. And, in fact, it's the worst hotel I can remember staying at in a very long time. When we checked in (2 rooms), I found the trash can in the bathroom sitting on the counter. Then my daughter called saying that there was something sticky all over the nightstand in her room and when she tried to call the front desk, she discovered that the phone didn't work. She also found popcorn on the floor in the room. She called them on her cell phone, and they said they'd send someone to clean and their excuse was that they were undergoing renovations. How in the heck do renovations impact the cleanliness of a room?About that time, the fire alarm went off. We were in the lobby, so we went outside and waited. Eventually the alarm stopped. We went inside and got in line to ask for a new room for my daughter. There was one lady helping a line of customers while some guy ran around like a chicken with its head cut off accomplishing nothing. After a while, he went to the other computer at the front desk, and we were able to talk to him. I found out later that he was the General Manager which I would never have guessed from his obvious lack of leadership ability or composure. We explained to him the situation and he said he'd sent someone to clean the room (Shouldn't that be done before the room is turned over to a customer?) but that the phone couldn't be repaired until Monday because Maintenance wasn't available on the weekends. He told us that we could have another room or could cancel the reservation. I though he was very condescending and rude. We opted for another room and then he told us that it would be on the fourth floor (dirty room was on the second floor) and that we'd have to carry our bags up because the elevators wouldn't work until the fire department got there and reset them. (I heard him later telling the firemen that arrived that he'd silenced the alarm. Shouldn't it be the fire department that makes sure the building is safe and gives the green light for people to reenter the premises?) We told him we could handle getting the luggage up the stairs and that we'd like to check out the new room. He gave us a key and we did so and found it to be satisfactory although the remote for the TV didn't work. (In the old room, the back of the remote was missing.) In my room, I later discovered that someone had written in pen on the arm of the sofa, an outlet was black from some sort of electrical issue that apparently caused arcing and the sink in the bathroom drained ridiculously slowly. Apparently housekeeping doesn't report maintenance needs to management or maybe they do, and management just doesn't address the issues??? As far as breakfast service, it was by far the worst of any Holiday Inn Express we stayed at on
GGuest UserI’ve now stayed at almost every 21C hotel (I haven’t been to Iowa). Gets an overall five stars with some stronger points and some weaker points. Strong: the artwork this time around was poignant, the thought provoking, and cohesive. The restaurant and restaurant staff were outstanding (The Savoy, reviewed separately). Their room service was awesome too. The beds at 21C have always been comfy and I like their toiletry products. Weaker: The front desk staff was a mixed bag. Generally helpful and nice, but I was received more coolly here than some other places. Housekeeping. I 1000% understand we are still struggling with COVID and the economy and labor issues. And I don’t know who had my room previously, but there were several small shards of glass in the seating area, there was a pair of underwear behind the couch (which I didn’t touch and left there), and I somehow found a pair of dried up old contact lenses on the bedspread. Please note, the room was generally clean and well appointed, but the three things I mentioned were pretty big things. Also, if we aren’t going to go back to having minibars (which I’m fine with), can we have mini fridges in the rooms? I get you’re trying to up-sell room service, but I would just like to be able to chill my water or have something cool to drink without asking for a (too small) bucket of ice. Would stay again. The positive far outweighs the negative. Tip: no valet parking, but there is a garage across the street that charges 10 bucks a night.
KKevin RichardThe hotel was wonderful, the staff at the front desk could’ve been a little more friendly. They did their job, but just a little more on the customer service side and being more greeting and welcoming would’ve been nice… Otherwise the place was great!
张张Close to the airport, there is a shuttle bus, the price is also affordable, there are breakfast, refrigerator, microwave oven, etc., the room is also big, can only be checked after 12 o'clock, the earliest airport in the morning is delivered at 4:1, the driver is good, can not help but give tip
KKaty JWe will be back to this lovely hotel tucked into a park-like corner of Kansas City. It’s just steps from the Plaza and a quick walk to local restaurants and shops in Westport. Helpful and speedy valet service. Thanks Stephen! Soon the free trolley will extend to this neighborhood opening up a whole new way to get around.
GGuest UserDarrell (shuttle driver) was the highlight of the stay. He was very personable, energetic and made our whole party feel welcome. The front desk team coud take some notes on hospitality from Darrell. The hotel is centrally located but the building is a little dated.
The rooms were wonderful. Very clean. The hotel looked brand new. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. They also had a pack and play for my youngest child. The accommodations was two thumbs up. Close to the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royal Stadium. The Restaurant was wonderful. Quick service. Food was very affordable. I have never been to a hotel that had a restaurant and complimentary buffet breakfast. The pool was wonderful. felt very good. We will definitely be coming back again!!!
