The advantages of the hotel are a very good breakfast and dinner. Buffet. Very abundant. There are both seafood and local cuisine. Delicious.
I would also like to note the traditional Marriott chain quality of bed. I slept great on it.
The beach in this place is excellent. You can swim safely - the waves are not so strong. Everything is very picturesque if you go left and right.
Now about the disadvantages. Unfortunately, there are more of them. The staff are very unpolite, you felt like you were not welcome here, they were doing you a favor. Fake smiles. On the day of check-out, a little after 12, for a few minutes the staff began knocking on the door and demanding to vacate the room. Is this worthy of such a hotel chain?
When I tried to pay at the reception with a Union Pay card, the staff said that the terminal for Russian cards did not work. Although, in other places and hotels in Sri Lanka, everything worked without problems and it was possible to pay everywhere. I explain this behavior by lack of customer focus, which, again, is very strange for a hotel of such a chain as Marriott and for the service.
I also want to note that this hotel did not have orthopedic pillows or any other pillows - when I tried to find out about this possibility, I was rudely told that there were no other pillows and that was all. In general, for the staff, service and their attitude - a big minus and a bad rating

Overall, it was an enjoyable stay although in some respects it was inferior to other hotels I stayed in on the holiday. The pools were great and so was the view from the room. The room itself was alright - quite basic but sufficient. We did have problems with a leak in the ceiling which was promptly addressed by staff but still a little annoying. In general the staff were lovely: in particular Chamindu in the restaurant, a security guard who called me and my partner over to show us turtles on the beach (sorry, can't remember his name) and the guy working the sunloungers at the lower pool. The weakest part was probably the food. It wasn't bad exactly, it was just worse than the food in all the other hotels I stayed in.
Amangalla lies within the ramparts of Sri Lanka’s 17th-century Galle Fort, a Unesco World Heritage Site. Offering views of the Fort and harbour on one side and the hotel’s lush gardens and swimming pool on the other, the historic residence, which has welcomed guests for over 150 years, presents lofty-ceilinged suites, elegant dining and a tranquil Spa complete with Hydrotherapy Suites.
Amangalla offers guests a sublime taste of International cuisine as well as Sri Lanka’s legendary flavours in a host of atmospheric settings - from candlelit dining in the Dining Room to the indulgence of afternoon teas on the sunny veranda and long lazy lunches by the pool.
The ramparts of Galle Fort hold within a bustling time capsule – narrow streets lined with old houses, churches, boutiques and restaurants displaying their Dutch and British colonial heritage. Simply step off Amangalla’s veranda to explore this world, or venture farther afield with an Aman guide to discover the region’s temples, beaches and blue whales on personalised journeys.
Reflecting Galle Fort’s rich colonial legacy, Amangalla Rooms, Chambers and Suites feature private bathrooms with separate bathtubs and showers. Conveniences include safes and desks, and housekeeping is provided daily. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.

Departed for Sri Lanka on September 28, 2023, and checked into the Amangalla Hotel in Galle Fort. It was the sixth Aman hotel to check in. It felt great. Amangalla was built in the 17th century. It was formerly a military command in the Netherlands. It later became the first hotel in Sri Lanka. It was acquired by the Aman Group in 1995. The hotel is not big, but it is well-equipped with swimming pools, massage pools, yoga rooms, etc. , you can experience local shaving services and foot massages.
Amangalla is the smallest Aman I have ever stayed in. It is in the middle of the ancient city of Galle and a 10-minute walk from the lighthouse. The surrounding area is very convenient for eating, drinking and entertainment. There is the Tuna and the Crab restaurant, which is a brother restaurant of the one-Michelin-star restaurant in Colombo. If you have enough money, you can try it.
Be sure to choose his tea plantation tour, which will also take you to see the sea turtle hatching base and stilt fishing. It was very interesting. Although I fell off and stepped on a rock while fishing on stilts and was injured, I gained interesting photos and a rare life experience. The ancient city of Galle is also worth visiting. Amangalla can arrange cars and tour guides. The hotel is right in the center of the ancient city. The location is good and it is very convenient to go everywhere. Although I fell into the sea while fishing on stilts and cut my feet. All in all, it was still a very interesting experience.
The two Amans in Sri Lanka are different from the ones we stayed in before. They are far away from Colombo and do not provide free airport pick-up services. The airport pick-up fee for the five of us was about US$400 in a large amanganla. It should be noted that if two Aman activities are booked for consecutive days, they generally need to be booked from the official website, not Ctrip agents.

Agnus Unawatuna is a little up into the hills, but the trip up is so worth it. The place is serene and the view is breathtaking; you get a top-down view of the ocean in all its glory, and you can even enjoy the view of the famous Galle Fort and Lighthouse from a distance. Service and amenities are amazing, and facilities are modern. Rooms are clean and well-equipped. It was a wonderful experience and the perfect place for a personal retreat! Would definitely come again if I have the chance, and have already recommended this place to some friends! Thank you!

The environment is first-class, it is a good place for a vacation, and the staff are very friendly and enthusiastic! We used the taxi app Pick Me to take a taxi in Galle, and then took the bus to Mirissa. In fact, as long as it is not the rush hour, the conditions of their buses are passable. Much cleaner than India, maybe there will be surprises

Beautiful small villa, the food is delicious, the decoration is very simple.
I didn't expect to have such a beautiful hotel in a deep village, a bit far from the beach, it is recommended that those who have a car want to try the local pastoral scenery to live.
I met many local families to have dinner. The boss was very nice and the overall experience was very good.

The infinity pool of Bawa architecture is a wonderful hotel. Many of the customers seemed to be from Sri Lanka. There were many people like honeymooners, but there were surprisingly many families and families.
Although the hotel was a little old, it was solidly built and there was no problem with the plumbing.
Service outside the restaurant was very good. The restaurant seems to take more than 30 minutes to bring out what you ordered at lunch. And it was a little cold.
Coffee for breakfast also took quite a while to come out. Housekeeping and receptionists were very nice.

This hotel is the most impressive and satisfying one in the entire Sri Lankan itinerary. It completely exceeded expectations and surpassed the other two heritage hotels in my heart. The hotel has only 4 rooms with English-style butler service. It is very quiet and can provide better services. You can choose the breakfast you want according to your own taste (there are local style, Western European style and various options). You can tell the housekeeper the meal time and food the day before, and the next morning will be specially made for you and delivered to the room or in the room. The open-air dining bar at the entrance, anyway, the overall service is butler-style, plus the overall decoration style, this kind of style has only been seen in British dramas before, I really love this kind of place, if it is not for the next day, I really want to If you stay for a few more days, Galle itself is a bit similar to Gulangyu Island in China. It is very suitable for a leisurely vacation, and this kind of butler service is really relaxing.

GGuest UserWhat a find ! Our large room was absolutely perfect - open the doors and there was the wonderful huge pool! Everything was so lovely, just as the pictures depicted - even better ! Breakfast was great, we had 2 meals at the hotel of an evening which were magnificent and set up poolside for us which was really lovely We were thrilled with our stay . The staff were delightful, helpful and kept the villa in such beautiful condition. Laundry was organised for us which was greatly appreciated as we were on a long trip and needed this done on short notice We cannot rate this Villa highly enough. We really hope to stay again You have a wonderful team of staff Best wishes Mandy and James - Australia
JJIEThis is a very rare small resort. I don't care about the various regional hotel awards at the front desk. Instead, I try to experience it. The hotel is transformed from an old building in a Spanish-style outer ring, although I don't have it. Asking about the purpose of the original building, I have always told me that this was a military camp. Haha, this confidence is no one... Anyway, I like the wooden doors with thick traces of the years, the blue sky and the white walls and red tiles. With a variety of green plants, the hotel's night is accompanied by the melodious singing of the sound of the waves, as well as the passionate and psychedulous national dance... The experience is naturally printed in memory! Just talk about it, the hotel is a great place to enjoy the sunset, do not deliberate, go out!
GGuest UserLocated a short bus ride from Galle city (number 375) this is a beautiful, tranquil hotel! The bungalows give a sense of privacy, overlooking paddy fields and jungle and are beautifully decorated, whilst the hosts were amazing! My boyfriend woke early and the owners provided very early morning coffee for him at a drop of a hat which he drunk whilst watching the monkeys playing in the trees! Walking to and from the bungalows at night, down a dark lane, allowed us to see a night full of fireflies - truly special moments! Breakfast, traditional Sri Lanka including roti, sambol and dahl, was tasty and well-presented! The swimming pool was clean and inviting! I loved the bathroom which was beautiful with a range of unexpected decorations and accessories, and had an outdoor shower! The owners were welcoming with a smile and we had a great chat with the owner about his children and the education system in Sri Lanka (I’m a teacher)! This is beautiful accommodation, maintained to a high standard, off the beaten track (with good transport to the town) in a tranquil setting and gives the opportunity to relax, listen to the wildlife and forget about the world for a while! Had a great 2 night stay - thank you.
VValentina SelivanovaMy review, of course, will not be about this hotel, but about the hotel of this chain, Thaproban Pavilion Resort & Spa. We booked a room at the Thaproban Beach House Hotel, when we came to check in, it turned out that our reservation at this place was missing, and we had a reservation at the Thaproban Pavilion Resort & Spa. Thanks to the Trip.com team for helping us understand and resolve issues. And the Thaproban Pavilion Resort & Spa turned out to be much better than the Thaproban Beach House. True, it is not on the beach, but the beach is 5-7 minutes away. The hotel is super, all the amenities, large rooms overlooking the ocean. Very tasty breakfasts, 2 swimming pools on site, one with salt water. In general, I highly recommend the hotel. We really liked it. And we never regretted that we moved into it.

Excellent
KkittysunnyThe experience of this hotel is average. First of all, the hygiene of the room is average. The bathroom has a bit of smell. Secondly, the towels don't look very clean. I was woken up by mosquito bites in the middle of the night and saw dozens of mosquito bites on my feet. It's really unbearable. I haven't had such a bad experience in so many days. However, the location of the hotel is good. It is in Coco Bay and faces the beach. The breakfast is not a buffet, but a meal ordering form. I didn't expect that the taste is good, because the bread and waffles are baked on the ordering basis, which is particularly fragrant.
GGuest UserThe hotel is located far from the center. When booking, I paid for the most expensive room with a sea view, as a result, upon arrival they tried to move me to the highest floor under the roof in a small room; the room had a strong smell of dampness. I went down and explained that I had paid for the most expensive room from the website and asked to be moved, my request was fulfilled. In general, the hotel is not bad, with a beautiful view, the food is delicious, they even made me a dish that was not on the menu, they asked if I wanted to dance in the evening, they took me to the center to a restaurant by the ocean where there was live music and dancing in the evening, they asked me to write when to pick it up and They arrived and brought us back to the hotel absolutely free of charge. I travel very often and move from one hotel to another, from one part of the island to another, in order to see everything as much as possible, and not sit in one place, if I like the hotel, I usually extend it for another one or several days, the website says check-in after 14 check-out before 12, the next day I was still sleeping in bed, from 9 am they started knocking hard on the door and trying to get me out of the room, different people came several times, at that moment I felt scared, they were knocking hard on the door, I barely had time to pack my bag and take a quick shower. To clarify why they kicked me out of my room in the morning, when I still have two hours until 12 o’clock, they told me on WhatsApp that check-out is before 10 am and they need to have time to prepare the room for the next guest, but no one told me about this before I didn’t report and the website says until 12 o’clock, so I’m giving a low rating for the service, it was very unpleasant, I’ve never seen anything like this in any hotel
GGuest UserAbsolutely spectacular! My recent stay at this exquisite property left me utterly spellbound. From the moment I set foot on the grounds, I knew I had stumbled upon a true gem. The location itself seems plucked from the pages of paradise, with its breathtaking vistas and serene ambiance. Let's talk about the food—prepare your taste buds for a symphony of flavours! Each dish presented with meticulous care and bursting with mouthwatering deliciousness. And the staff? Well, they're simply unparalleled. Their warmth and hospitality made me feel like royalty from the moment I arrived. The sea-view room, oh, what a marvel! Its ethereal charm and mesmerising vistas made it nearly impossible to tear myself away. And don't even get me started on the infinity swimming pool! The fact that it's filtered with salt water from the sea adds an extra touch of luxury that's simply unparalleled. This place truly has a way of calming the soul and rejuvenating the spirit. I have absolutely no complaints. None whatsoever! I would not hesitate for a moment to return to this idyllic haven, and I wholeheartedly recommend that everyone experience its magic at least once in their lifetime. Trust me, you won't regret it.
