Bergdale Cottages

Stayed in Bergdale House for a week and travelled into the Kruger every day. Only 20 minutes to the Phabeni gate or 35/40 minutes to the Paul Kruger gate. Welcomed to Bergdale by Ashlynn. Cottage (more of a house!) is well equipped with an enormous kitchen space with an American fridge and wine cooler cabinet. Double plugs throughout although one is SA 3 pin round and the other is a multi European and also takes U.K. 3 pin flat without an adaptor. This means the SA plugged toaster, kettle and microwave are in three different corners of the kitchen area. Plenty of exercise to make breakfast! A massive electric oven with gas hob complete the kitchen fittings. The pool (only with Bergdale House) was a welcome addition as daytime temperatures were in the high 30s (8/9 degrees above average) throughout our stay. Aircon (in the two bedrooms only - ceiling fans elsewhere) was also very welcome. Massive number of kitchen cupboards. Perhaps could have done with a little more bedroom wardrobe space but that depends on your length of stay. Bathrooms could also have done with more places to put things - a cabinet perhaps. Two peoples toiletries and ancillaries can’t all fit on the basin surround or the two drawers below. However, these are minor observations and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the venue to all.

We liked the house very much & the way it is build & presented. (I would buy it!) Realy pleasant accommodation. Very comfortable beds & great toilet & shower facilities. High quality Carrier AC. The pool is a real treat, as it gets quite hot outside. Beautiful surroundings with a variaty of antilopes, birds and horses. Quiet setting, perfect to relax & unwind. We liked the big fridge & freezer as well as the wine cooler bar fridge. The kitchen is a bit of an overkill as 70% of the cupboards are empty. You do find most of what you need. The toilets could have used a bit more thorough cleaning (we are in the industry & have a very high, above-average standart) We stayed 4 nights & were really spoiled. Uncomplicated dealing with staff & office over WhatsApp that makes planing very easy. Vinolia was a real gem, she is excellent! There is no housekeeping, fresh linnen or towls unless you pay a R250 fee per day. The Braai & Pool are attended daily. You can bring your trash out by yourself & someone is picking it up. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Stayed for 3 nights with my son and had an amazing trip. Aside from the fabulous things we did (Kruger, The Big Lift, God's Window, Lisbon Falls. All within an hours drive) the cottage was lovely. The staff were friendly, the owner came to say hello and gave us tips on where to eat (Tanks was good). The place itself was very clean, well equipped, super comfy beds, great shower....the list goes on. I always think reviews that say a place is perfect must be fake so I've been wracking my brains to come up with a negative and have come up with nothing. We had a fabulous few days and my son is planning a return visit with friends as soon as they can all get away.
