Nice hotel close to Miyajimaguchi Train Station ( 3 minutes walking) and Miyajima Ferry station (1-minute walking :-D ). The room was nothing special, but good for staying there for two nights and discovering Miyajima, Hiroshima, and Kure. Breakfast was very good, including local dishes.

After battling crowds in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima, Miyajima and the Hotel Miyajima Villa were a welcome respite. Indeed, we so enjoyed our stay that we added an additional night. Before and after the arrival and departure of day trippers from Hiroshima, we felt as though we had the island and its wild deer all to ourselves. The hotel is immaculate, ideally located (a few steps from the ferry and a short walk to the island's attractions) and staffed by incredibly helpful, friendly and energetic staff. A hearty breakfast got each day off to a solid start while our afternoon soaks in the top floor onsen were perfect for getting rid of kinks from a day of sightseeing.

I noticed that the key to the room number described in the paper handed over at check-in was different, and when I called the front desk, I replied, ”please come to the front desk because I gave the key wrongly.” I thought, ”I'm going to take it, and I'm going to open the room with the key I gave, and I'm already carrying the other luggage, which is correct? When I called again, I was suspended for a long time and said, ”I will bring it to the room because it is correct to pass it first,” but when the chime rings and opens the door, I was told ”I'm sorry” while talking on the inner line telephone. I was disappointed with the staff's response afterwards, not that I made a mistake in the room number. After all, there was no apology from the top until the end of the inn. I'm sure there was no report from my subordinates. I was sorry for the room I opened wrongly (because I was absent, I don't think I apologized to these people). I was very sad. I highly recommend this ryokan for the exceptional experience including great food, staff & room. My room was a traditional ryokan room with tatami matts but with traditional mattresses. It overlooked the the pedestrian street but was very quiet at night since most tourists visit Miyajima as a daytrip. The staff was gracious enough to setup a futon for me on the tatami matt so that I could sleep traditional Japanese style. Haruka at the front desk was amazing. She speaks limited English but enough to communicate with. She wrote me a very sweet handwritten note that I will keep forever when I asked where I could buy a yukata robe. I had asked her where I could purchase a yukata (traditional Japanese robe). The presentation of the dinner was amazing and worth it. The on-site onsen was was great and was usually all to myself. It has one indoor pool along with a small one on the outdoor deck that overlooks the bay and torii gate. Upon checkout, Haruka escorted me out which I believe is typical of a ryokan. It was sad to leave because of how memorable the stay was! The ryokan was expensive but worth it for the experience. I can't imagine visiting Miyajima only as a day trip. It would be too rushed as there's plenty to do for 2 days. Must sees are the torii gate along with the shrine surrounding it, taking the ropeway up to Mt. Misen (the top of the mountain is about a 20-30 minute steep hike from the end of the ropeway but I recommend it), and finally definitely do not miss Daishoin shrine which was truly amazing. Recommend avoiding Saturday & Sundays as it's very, very crowded.

Near the pier, up a hill, the environment is quiet, the bathhouse is not big, and fortunately there are not many people. The breakfast is exquisite. Some of the waiters are from Taiwan, so communication is no problem. From the rooms on the sixth floor of the hotel, you can see the old ruins of Miyao Castle on the key mountain (the site of the Itsukushima Battle), and you can see the large torii gate from the side, and the view is acceptable.

I was able to take a comfortable bath without being squeezed or dry even by families with weak skin. Unfortunately, there are no open-air baths or private baths, but some rooms have open-air baths with rooms, so I think you can choose according to your taste. The amount of meals varies or is insufficient depending on the course and price, which is often a big preparation at such a large inn, and the impression and quality of appearance are greatly different from the images on the site. Instead of having a sense of failure such as the dishes that were cold at the time of serving inn dishes, we were able to provide a wonderful dish of a more impressive level. This time we were in the room, and it was originally said that Masazen was the basic set, but ４ kind of seasonal course dishes (Masazen, delicious fish, delicious meat, delicious feast) with guidance on the site. Good points: 1. Location is amazing since it’s right on the island and everything is within walking distance. 2. We had breakfast and supper included in the stay. Food was varied and plentiful for most palates. Plenty of fruit and veg too. 3. Staff for 98% of the time was great. Language barriers are expected. Google translate is a perfect alternative to the translation issue. The front desk staff were awesome and was extremely helpful. 4. Room is spacious for a traditional Japanese hotel. We had our own onsen which was delightful. The beds were mostly comfortable and we had two full mattresses pushed together creating a massive king! 5. Once you enter the hotel you must take off your shoes and the hotel provides house slippers which generally fit most people. The lobby has shoe cubbies for your shoes. They do not lock, but Japan has very little petty theft so you don’t need to fret over potential thievery. Negative points: 1. This is of no fault of the hotel, rather it’s a Google maps problem. Be aware Google maps will basically have you climb the mountain and drag your suitcase through a dirt path. Instead put in the Miyajima post office and with the water to your right, turn up to the small road with the post office to your back. Keep going straight for about 2.5 city blocks and you’ll walk right into the hotel. Much easier than the 40 minute hike we took. 2. Restaurant staff on the whole were great. Only issue was this morning when we went to breakfast this morning and tried to sit in our usual table, the staff tried to sit us with some other people. I asked if we could sit at a different table and the individual said no and walked away. We didn’t know these people they tried to sit us with. However, they were tourists like us. I was frustrated because the staff member just walked away from us when I was still speaking to him. Very rude! 3. The toilet room smelled really bad. It was a combination of mold and chemicals.

The location of the hotel is very good, very close to the Yanshima Shrine, the Millennium Pavilion, and the Five-Pagoda. It didn't take a few steps. After we arrived at the ferry terminal, we met the hotel's shuttle bus and checked the baggage back. Then we strolled along the coast easily and went back to the hotel with our Yanshima Shrine. In the evening, come out to see the big bird house floating on the water after the high tide. The hotel is built on the mountain and the entrance is relatively small. We confirmed at the door that the hotel should belong to a larger hotel in Yandao. Although it is a bit old, the room is very large, with tatami and western style, very comfortable. The hot springs are well-regulated. It is said to be effective for arthritis. It doesn't feel embarrassing for a day. It is a hotel dinner.
