Hotels near Riverfront Park, Harrisburg

First time stay at Home2 Suites at beginning of our trip and we were so impressed we stayed again at different location in return trip. Just as thrilled with this stay as the first. Hilton as really figured out the needs of traveling during COVID and beyond. Digital check-in, key and check-out. Stove only thing missing for full kitchen and they offer one with pans if you need it. Pull out table and sofa in use for our family as well. Pre-bagged breakfast option included variety of hot sandwiches and even coffee supplies were pre-packaged by flavor in a safe manner. Hand sanitizer and “self-cleaning” elevator buttons! Very comfortable beds and linens too. Way to go with this new brand Hilton!

Very disappointed in this Holiday Inn Express, all my requests handicapped bathroom, no down pillows, I’m allergic to them so of course the room was filled with them, nothing we requested four days earlier was followed especially after we arrived from a 5hr drive into this hotel, at 1:30am, the room smelled moldy, sheets were not fresh and dirty, room was dirty & dusty. Sofa was stained, no Bible in the room, Sign for extra towels that they charge for them, also the products were bolted to the wall. Would never recommend go to Hilton or Hampton Suite or Inn much better for the price, we paid $300 for two night a motel would have been much better, only thing that was good was the breakfast but I feel it should be until 11am check out time.

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. I'd say 3 1/2 but didn't see that as a choice. It's a nice newly-renovated hotel conveniently located between Harrisburg and Hershey. It's great for one or two nights. The front desk clerk Antonio was friendly and gave us early check-in. The breakfast was good and there were workers cleaning the public areas throughout the day. So what didn't we like. The rooms are smallish. To their credit the space is well ordered and the small bathroom had nice storage areas. The hook on the back of bathroom door is useless for hanging towels. Better hooks and more drying bars would help. The walls are thinner than we'd like. We could hear the TV from the room next to us. There is a nice pool and hot tub but the apron around the pool is so narrow that there's no room for chaise lounge chairs. The chairs in the pool area are not comfortable. So if you enjoy reading and laying around the pool it won't happen. Off the pool there is a patio area with comfortable chairs with cushions and tables. But the area is kind of bleak and no umbrellas for tables. So no shade. All in all you won't be disappointed but you might not be thrilled. Again, it's great for a night or two if you're out all day visiting the sights.

We travel frequently and can say without a doubt that this was the worse experience ever of a hotel . We went to checkin and was given a basement room (who knew those existed ) that reeked of mold . The sheets were damp , the air was moist and the entire room was completely underground . The “fire exit” was a metal corrugated tube with an unstable ladder that you would have to climb up the tube to get out of !!! We tried to remedy this situation but the person in reception refused to find us another room , instead telling us we should have told him we were allergic to mold when we booked the hotel ! As if it would have been fine otherwise ! Although there were other rooms that people had not checked into yet, the person refused to switch rooms. Upon my insistence , he called his manager who he claims also refused to change the room . We asked to speak to the manager and was denied . We were told they would refund the room rate but would not be given a different room . We asked for proof of the refund that they said they would process and was told they couldn’t give us printed proof . Since we were now 3 hours from home without a place to stay with a young child , we called Choice Hotels customer service . They were actually really helpful - however , when they reached out to the Comfort Inn, they claimed we hadn’t been there ! Luckily we had the confirmation number that proved otherwise . Choice hotels found us another room at their expense in a hotel 10 min away and told us that if we weren’t refunded, we should dispute with our credit card company . This morning , we get an email saying the room was charged to my credit card ! Which it had been when we prepaid but possibly charged again instead of refunded . Called my credit card company who was super helpful and disputed the charge . In short … moldy basement room , awful customer service and lied in their communications . Do not stay here !!

The room is very big, the bathroom is also big, and Hershey World can be reached within half an hour by car

I think this hotel is actually very nice for the price. They offered complementary breakfast that was not only good, but offered a surprising variety of options. They even had almond milk which was great for me! They had several washers and dryers for guest use that are quarter-operated. If you do not have quarters you can exchange cash for quarters at the front desk, but keep in mind the hotel does not have an ATM. The room I stayed in was clean and spacious with a full kitchen, sofa, queen bed, closet, and full bathroom. Everything was functional and easy to use. They had a hair dryer, bottle opener, silverware, clothes hangers, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, linens with extras in the closet, cups, coffee with a coffee maker, and cooking supplies. There's a microwave, dishwasher, stove, fridge w/ freezer, and kitchen sink. Downstairs you can buy some snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, or beer. There is an indoor pool and a 24/7 fitness room. All staff members were polite and helpful. Again, I was surprised this was so cheap because it really had all the stuff I'd want.

I am an IHG One Rewards DIAMOND member. The highest tier I'm aware of... One would think they would treat these members well. I checked in here and got zero recognition. When I asked the front desk clerk if he was going to humor me and actually giver me my diamond perk, he replied he already upgraded me to a suite. I call BS!!! I booked the suite with points at booking. Don't try to tell me you did me a solid when I paid for that suite. I am done with IGH. Using up my points and moving on. Oh almost forgot. We ran out of facial tissues and requested a new box be delivered to the room. Well Holiday Inn doesn't seem to keep extras. I am not kidding, they delivered an already open box with God only know what kind of cum stains on the outside of the box. See pictures.

I did not have a reservation and booked last minute on *******. The front desk made it very easy and waited on the phone while I booked. I am a woman and was traveling alone and I always get very anxious staying alone but felt very safe. The area was peaceful and well lit at night. My bed was comfortable and the front desk lady was very kind. I would definitely stay again.

The hotel has a lot of big and small children with a lot of children who are going to the town of Chocolate Town. It’s still quite big. I saw the welcome message on the TV on the room for the first time: I’m welcome to stay at the hotel* I feel very good next time. Will stay again
