Fujiya Hotel

Kowakidani/Miyanoshita
This hotel is a historic property set in an iconic setting. We stayed in the Forest Section which features large, comfortable rooms that were a little dark, the bathroom lighting could be improved. Here is my issue. We arrived around 1:15 and we’re told that we could check in at 3:00. We had lunch in their cafe ( 50$) and asked again about an hour later if we could have early access. The very polite desk clerk replied “ Yes, for $70 dollars “. Astounded , I countered that we were departing early 2 days later, and he reduced the amount to $35. Now here is where communication becomes an issue: I continued the “are you kidding me?” and he kept bowing. I thought the issue was settled. That night and the next we ate at their lovely restaurants, French and the Cascade. Food and service was superb. With wine we spent about $900. Check out was early, and my husband didn’t really examine the bill. When we were back in our free early access room in Tokyo I noticed the $35 charge. I contacted the hotel’s customer service and they confirmed the charge. So, what about customer hospitality? I have NEVER been charged an early access fee for an hour. They have been times when we patiently waited for a room to be readied, and never demanded a rebate. It is all part of the guest/host agreement, I think this is probably a corporate decision by the Fujiya Group. Rethink your mission, guys, make guests feel wanted!
The Hiramatsu Hotels & Resorts Sengokuhara Hakone

Gora/Sengokuhara
The hotel is located in Sengokuhara, in the middle of a mountain. If you live on a high floor, you can see Mount Fuji when the weather is good. The room and the interior environment of the hotel can only be said to be acceptable, and it is still not as good as some domestic gold diamond level hotels. Service It was raining when we arrived. There were two staff members who could speak Chinese. The whole check-in process was perfect. We booked two meals. The dinner was exquisite and acceptable. We ordered a cup of coffee for after-meal drinks. The beans were too bad. I hope this can be improved. Breakfast was a bit careless. The French dinner rolls were bad. The desserts were placed for too long after the meal. The simple products should be completed about 5 minutes in advance. Bad reviews. There was no menu for breakfast. The ordering was too monotonous. I was forced to eat a few prepared dishes. There was no small range of choices. It was careless and seriously bad reviews. From breakfast to check-out, the whole process felt that there was no care. It was seriously mismatched for a gold diamond hotel.

Gora/Sengokuhara
The service is impeccable, everyone is very professional and welcoming. There is no public area in the hotel to go shopping, so you can only drive out to play and watch the scenery. I booked two rooms. This room is on a large flat floor and smoking is allowed. My husband is very satisfied. The breakfast and dinner are very rich and satisfying. When I left the store today, I found that even the shoes were wiped very clean, as if they were new
Hakone Retreat Villa 1f

Gora/Sengokuhara
If you want your stay in Hakone to look like a romantic Japanese travel ad, then this is the place for you. The villas are all different so I can only speak to villa 6, but it was right out of one of those glossy photo books you pick up at Kinokuniya. There is a wood-burning fire stove, a Bluetooth sound system, a high slanted ceiling over the bed with a cover that can be remotely controlled. The toilet and bathroom are up the stairs near the bathtub and shower room, which are picturesque and then lead to the small but cozy private outdoor onsen, shrouded by trees. I stayed in November and the foliage was gorgeous. On the grounds is a cafe/lounge and a restaurant. Or you can choose a nearby eatery and the staff will drive you there and pick you up afterwards in their van. The staff aren’t completely fluent in English but are very eager to be helpful and as polished and professional as befits a nice Japanese resort. If you’re looking to get away from Tokyo for a day or two or three, I highly recommend this lovely retreat. It’s possible to make some truly beautiful memories here.

One of the nicest hotel I've been to so far! The buffet breakfast selections are crazy, crabs for breakfast? Count me in! From my room, there's a crazy view of the Hakone valleys especially during sunsets. The staff are very nice people who provided the best for my stay. I was celebrating my anniversary with my partner and they offered a free pass to the bar & lounge. Would definitely come again the next time.

Gora/Sengokuhara
The room is clean and stylish. It is full of fashionable feeling with the latest equipment. The room is compact, but not too small. The view from the open-air bath is more like looking down on the cityscape around Gora Station rather than nature. I had high hopes for the food, but I was too particular about the appearance and creation, and none of them were particularly delicious. I had told them in advance which ingredients I didn't like, but they came chopped up and mixed in with the risotto, and I couldn't help but take one bite and feel sick, and after that I couldn't eat anything. There was no particular apology from the hotel, and I was disappointed that I would bring something else. I was disappointed that I could not enjoy the free flow at all. The smoked platter I received at the service was the most delicious, so I asked about the workshop and bought a lot of souvenirs on the way home. The staff was polite, but I got the impression that they were looking down from somewhere. I don't think he's aware of it, but even when he sees the replies to word of mouth, is there something wrong with us? I get the feeling that They seem very confident, but at this price point there are many better ryokans in Gora, so we won't be going there again. I had been looking forward to it for months, but it was completely different from what I had imagined and I was disappointed.
