Hotels near Plaza La Coruña, Guatemala City

We loved Barcelo Guatemala City hotel. We arrived around 7 pm at the airport, the shuttle driver was already waiting for us at the arrival area, the hotel had nice, clean van and it’s only 5 minutes from the airport. Fast check in, the hotel is big and clean, our room was on the 8th floor with 2 balconies. We had a king bed and they provided us with 2 bottled water and a tray of fruits. They have a pool but we didn’t have enough time to enjoy it. Breakfast was very nice, they have different guatemalan food choices for breakfast everyday like fajita, plantains, beans. They also have the usual eggs, bread, cheeses, yogurt, cold cuts and lots of fresh fruits. The servers were so kind. We also ate at the restaurants inside the hotel, Kyoto for japanese cuisine and Strikers for american food. We exchanged currency at the front desk everyday since we don’t know how much money we will spend for every tour. We made Barcelo our base hotel and took tours everyday. We did Hobbitenango, Antigua, Chichicastenango, Guatemala city tour and Lake Atitlan with San Juan la Laguna, which we all booked via Viator, we were lucky that most tours it was only the 2 of us. There is a supermarket Paiz just one block from the hotel where we bought drinks and snacks. The area is very safe and the hotel has 24/7 guards at the lobby and gate. We also booked the shuttle going back to the airport, our flight was at 6am and we took the first shuttle at 4 am, plenty of time to get to the airport, security and immigration. I stayed at this hotel for four nights. I was assigned room 304. Service - Everyone I interacted with at this hotel was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Some speak limited English, but it is fun to learn Spanish, so I like that part of it. Wait staff in the restaurant were all great. The security staff (always stationed outside of the front entrance to the hotel) were also great. Room - Room was large and super clean. Quiet. Super comfortable bed. Mini refrigerator. Safe. Great working AC. It made the room freezing cold, which I love. Great curtains that completely kept the room dark when sleeping in. Wi-fi was reliable and fast. Room did not have a view. Bathroom was fine. Adequate counter space for your toiletries. Shower water temperature got and stayed very hot and the water pressure was great, which I love. Hotel Information - The hotel has 109 rooms and five floors. Decent size lobby, with an ATM, little pantry for snacks and beverages near the front desk, restaurant / bar, business center, and fitness center. I did not have a rental car, so I am unable to comment on parking. Free breakfast buffet for Hilton Diamond members. Breakfast buffet was excellent with tons of fresh fruit, three fresh juice options, tons of hot and cold items, made-to-order omelets, etc. Due to COVID-19, they serve it to you, but it is AYCE. Location - I loved the location of this hotel! It is located in Zona 9 (one of the safest zones in Guatemala City). It is located one block off of Avenida La Reforma (one of the main boulevards in Guatemala City that separates Zona 9 and Zona 10). You can walk to restaurants (almost every US chain is within walking distance - Applebee’s, Burger King, Carl’s Jr, Chili’s, Cinnabon, Dunkin’ Donuts, KFC, McDonald’s, P.F. Chang’s, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Subway, Taco Bell, and TGI Fridays). Great shopping malls are within walking distance (Avia Mall and Oakland Mall). Oakland Mall is beautiful, huge, and four floors. La Aurora International Airport (GUA) and Zoológico La Aurora are less than 10 minutes by car. Plaza España, Plaza Obelisco, and the many gardens, monuments, sculptures, and statues on Avenida La Reforma, Avenida Las Américas, and 7A Avenida are within walking distance. Most of my tours did not pick up at the Hilton Garden Inn. They only had three hotel options for pickup. One was The Westin Camino Real, which is only two blocks away in Zona 10. I used that hotel as a pickup and drop off for my tours. It was convenient. I highly recommend this hotel if your travels take you to Ciudad de Guatemala!

Very pleasant experience overall. I needed help with arranging many details and staff were very helpful! The room was exceptional, although there was only shampoo and lotion, no conditioner, but the shower was hot and the pillows were soft! I felt very comfortable and safe and would definitely stay here again.

My room had 3 double beds with a sofa and a huge TV. The view was straight into the Courtyard Marriott across the street. However it was very comfortable. There are dozens of restaurants within walking distance. the Oakland mall and Dollar City are about 15 mins walk from the hotel.

This is my Third Time i Say in this Hotel, The Hotel is very safe. The staffs are very courteous, They Speak good English and they help you out of the way, a special Tanks to Yaquelyn and Mr Edwin in the Front office. The Rooms are very specious clean, the beds are very conformable and the best city view from the Balcony. The breakfast is good for Latin American people i guess, i come from Asia, but they make good Spanish Omelet, so nothing much to complain, I will recommend this Hotel, its reasonable priced, spacious rooms, nice cozy sofa and bed, nice view, and you can get everything in walking distance, there is a Burger King Just Opp to the Hotel 20 Meters, Nice Hotels around, Like Del GeeGo, 20 Meters to the left, PF Chang etc.

Located in the 10th district of Guatemala City's safest area, the hotel room is a suite with a restaurant bar, gym, and facilities equivalent to the domestic four-five-star hotel. It is a relatively high-cost hotel among the 10 district hotels. Five hotels eventually chose us here and are highly recommended to everyone.

With visiting a new country, I was a little uncertain about the right hotel to stay in, but, when I pulled up in the Uber, I was BEYOND grateful that the pictures matched real-life. The entire hotel had an old world, relaxed vibe, that made the wind down easier. I have never traveled to Guatemala before and the friendly service has me considering returning, for a longer, personal trip. Even though I'm not fluent, in the native language, most of the ppl with whom I came in contact, including hotel staff, were VERY helpful and patient. The bed was VERY comfortable, the room smelled like it had been cleaned, recently and it was VERY spacious.

Great little place! Not much to look at on the outside, but once inside, it's all you need! Clean bed, en suite shower, toilet and sink and TV. It comes with Netflix and WiFi. Corner stores for sodas/snacks, with restaurants and shopping a few blocks away. This is in Zona 1, which is being ”reinvented.” Not the best, not the worst area. Staff were super nice. 15 minutes from the airport. I would stay here again! Gracias por todo!

After comparing the official website and Ctrip, I think Ctrip booking is done in seconds. The front desk staff is very enthusiastic and the room is very clean. The only thing to complain about is that the front desk is on the top floor instead of the first floor. We arrived at around 9pm, and there was no staff downstairs to help with luggage... The location is in the city center, and it is very convenient to go to the airport. Go downstairs and turn the corner to the church square, where there are many delicious foods. Find an open-air location in the evening, it is very photogenic.
