We stayed here 2 years ago and it was paradise. Our room was tranquil, the place was spotless and the service was first class. It has gone down hill drastically in almost every aspect due what largely looks like a decision to ***** out cost. Sadly, the prices remain the same. We booked the highest room type again and requested the same room (310). The bar below now stays open until 1am rather than 11pm when we last stayed. The noise woke our children and kept me awake until after 1.30am. After the second sleepless night I spoke with the from of house manager. He explained that there events on and assured me that, as it was a family hotel, the normal close time was of course 11pm. The following night around 12.30am I eventually went down to see what the noise was only to be told the bar was open to 1am every night. When I spoke with front of house again, he told me he had been misinformed and that it was indeed 1am. When we stayed last, towels were stored around each pool and replenished throughout the day. Now, you queue at the beach bar for towels and they were left to pile up in laundry baskets everywhere (see photos) as the staff that previously kept the place clean are no longer there. As the day went on, litter started to pile up around the sunbeds. This included glass bottles of beer, which seemed dangerous given the number of children around. One morning, my wife stood on a beer bottle top, which had not been cleared up from the day before. When we stayed last, all the sunbeds had comfortable foam mattresses. Now, only the sunbeds around the main pool and on the beach had mattresses. The rest had no mattresses and were not very comfortable. Even in the gym, where on the last trip the small standard white towels you get at even basic hotels were provided, these too were now absent. When I asked the staff at the Spa, the shrugged their shoulders apologetically. I mentioned that standards seemed to have dropped. They agreed and said there was nothing they were able to do. As a result of my enquiry, towels were subsequently delivered. However, they were enormous beach towels, deliver in a hug pile twice a day. This seem like a waste, not environmentally friendly and at odds with the hotels green credentials. At lunchtimes in the beach restaurant it was carnage. Tables would be left strewn and uncleared. Our room type gave us access to the Haute Living lounge. For the most part this was good but again, service was regularly a bit 'Fawlty Towers'. Surfaces and tables would be covered with glasses and crockery for hours at a time even when when staffed. Fridges were left to run out of water and other drinks, with guests having to constantly ask for items to be replenished, One evening, the server shut up an hour early and simply left Another family called reception to ask for drinks but an hour later nobody had arrived. The 5 star service and culture we enjoyed on our previous trip has evaporated. This seemed to be as a result of under
