We stayed with the Ascott group numerous times for its cleanliness and well-maintained facilities around the world, and Citadines Connect Georgetown is no exception. The building is renovated from a historical building which gives the hotel a mixture of cultural and contemporary vibe. It's a 3-story newly-built hotel and everything you see is brand new and tidy. The lobby is not large, but there are plentiful spaces to rest for a while. The room we stayed in is Studio Executive, and it's clean enough. The air-conditioning system utilized a touch panel for you to easily adjust to your liking. There are no drinking bottles inside the room but a water dispenser is just in the hallway, both environment-friendly and convenient. One of the things worthy of notice is the tap water system, where hot and cold water may be installed conversely. The hotel itself is located around minutes walk from Komtar neighborhood, and you can easily take buses to the airport or to other areas of Penang via the Komtar terminal. Several malls are also in this area to give you the convenience of shopping. The well-known hawker food centre at Lebuh Presgrave crossroad is also close by, where you can easily grab most of the famous and delicious local dishes here. CAT bus station is also not far from the hotel, and you can tour the UNESCO sites with it for a day trip. Overall, it's an excellent choice to stay here for its brand-new facilities, and its convenience regarding transportation, shopping, and dining.

It started off rough. Got into the hotel early to leave our luggage and the guy manning the check in was cold, standoffish, and didn’t even bother replying to our pleasantries. When we returned, a misunderstanding ensured. Cos of my earlier encounter, I was just unreasonable. But thank goodness for Suhaila (I think) and her manager - they deescalated the situation with grace and aplomb. That bump aside, I had a lovely time. Was in room 213. Initially I was worried because I have read about noise issues coming from the club next door. But either the club was closed or the soundproofing worked, there were no disturbances. We slept like babies. The room was beautiful, and the location is amazing. This hotel is highly Recommended. Just don’t bother to pay extra for the breakfast. That was just too sad. We tried it on our last day in the hotel as we were leaving early for the airport. It was dismal.

Overall, my stay was good, but there were a few areas for improvement. Room cleaning was a bit slow—by around 3 PM, it still wasn’t done. The air conditioner had a minor water leakage issue, though it was manageable. Despite being on the 4th floor, the room had ants, which was unexpected. The breakfast menu could use more variety as it was almost the same every day.
The location is convenient, being near Chulia Street and KOMTAR, but I recommend avoiding walking alone at night as there are some homeless individuals sleeping along the walkways nearby.

DISGUSTING HOTEL. This hotel has BED BUGS. We stayed in room 308 for one night and discovered bed bugs (pictured) and we were moved to room 305 where we immediately found another bug in the bed. We took photos and videos and showed the reception and we checked out 2 nights early. They said they understand, gave us free coffee, and said they’d get us a refund by Monday. We have now been told we are not getting refunded for 2 nights we didn’t stay. This is appalling behaviour and has cost us over £200 in extra hotels. I would never ever recommend Lyf to anyone. We were covered in bites and now are worried we’ve got bed bugs in our luggage. DO NOT STAY HERE. SAVE YOUR MONEY.

The hotel staff are so friendly, attentive and helpful. I was constantly greeted with a smile and everyone offered their help when I looked confused. The room was clean, spacious for 2 people with 2 big luggage bags. The complimentary snacks in the room were a pleasant surprise. The pool is breathtaking and lastly I appreciated the 24/7 manned reception it made checking in and out so efficient. I will definitely stay at the Prestige when I visit Penang.

My elderly parents stayed at The Gurney during their medical checkup in Penang and accidentally left behind some documents. We emailed the hotel and left a message through booking.com to no avail. Then through a phone call, we got connected to Danesh at the Concierge Department, who then went the extra mile to coordinate among various departments within the hotel, and mailed the document through express courier service. His attentive service is highly appreciated.

Stayed 2N at Gurney Bay to explore Gurney area. Location wise, it is walking distance (1km) to the malls and close to the Sleeping Buddha Temple (800m). However, under the hot sun with little shade along the route, it is better to take Grab around. If you want to explore the Central area of Georgetown, it is far.
The lobby is grand like a 5☆ hotel, amenities are good and the room is big. However, the furniture and fittings look rather dated, IMO, they need some refurbishment. The water pressure of the shower could be higher. The bed and pillows have good support. Overall cleanliness is very good.
The cafe's breakfast spread offers a mix of local and international, more on the local side, which is good. The Char Kuay Teow and Roti Canai are particularly very good. Also, it offered Teh Tarik. We also had a 3-course set lunch, and it was nice, too.
Service wise, the front desk staff is polite, and the concerige is courteous when responding to enquiries. But I would say we don't feel the warmth that I experienced in most 5☆ hotels, even some 4☆ hotels.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay.
The location of the hotel is very good and the landlord is very nice. The room is simple in design, but the facilities are very new and clean. The quilt, bed and pillow are very comfortable. The electrical appliances in the room are very complete, even the unexpected dryer is available. The living room is very large and the children play together. There is also a swimming pool in the hotel, which is really very beautiful. We will book this hotel again next time!

Parking is a headache. 9 floors spiralling really not good design. Toilet bowl not separated from.shower so entire bathroom gets really wet. Bed with plastic over mattress still, not so comfortable and can't sleep soundly...

Outstanding
AAngelynnWe had a relaxing and memorable stay at E&O. Our room offers a sea view which is great and feel peaceful. Although the hotel is a bit old, it’s generally well maintained. Staff are always smiling and willing to help. They provide new towels and bottled water every day. Staff service at the breakfast buffet are excellent. Sunset was beautiful.
KKK247It’s our maiden trip to Penang and I honestly did not have much expectations but our holiday was off to a GREAT start right from arrival. while we looked at photos and write-ups prior, the room was so much larger than we thought. the King bed is 3m wide which is much more spacious than what we’re used to back home—wonderful for us cos we were travelling with a 4yo.
We also hadn’t realised that our room came with lounge access for evening drinks + snacks so that was a nice surprise. The view on the rooftop was breathtaking and we had some really nice photos taken.
Guests also get to access the sister hotel’s facilities, which is a short buggy ride (or walk) away, so that was another pleasant surprise. the pool at G hotel Gurney was more varied and fun for the child, so that was another plus. breakfast spread is also really good. If we were to come back to Penang, i would not hesitate to stay with them again.
EEsraa AttamimiSleepbox Penang offers a unique and budget-friendly experience right in the heart of George Town. I loved the modern, capsule-style concept that provides privacy and comfort without breaking the bank. Despite being compact, the rooms were clean and equipped with essentials like good Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
The location is fantastic, within walking distance of many heritage sites and local eateries. The staff was friendly and helpful, offering great recommendations for things to do in the area.
GGuest UserStayed here one night in family suites with 2 rooms with my 2 kids, the hotel is not far from Komtar penang. Parking is not an issue even for our MPV, their rotating car park with escalator can move the car into empty slot. Check-in is fast and we stayed at level 19th with nice city and some ocean view. Room is very big with a living room, master room with big washroom and changing cabinet, and another connecting room. Wifi is fast and there are 19 tv channels to choose from. Next morning we went for their gym at level 22, not very big but good enough with 5-6 workout machines. Breakfast is at level 21 buffet styles, choice is just nice, not many but food is ok with reasonable price, only RM21 per pax.
GGuest UserOverall, the hotel is great. The only area of improvement is the services that provided by the reception counter, especially the guy wearing specs. He is very unfriendly.
BBz_BktNew hotel less than a week after opening. The room is high in value and the design is fashionable. The hotel has limited parking spaces and cars can be parked on the street. Once you get to the hotel floor, you need to take the elevator to the second floor to check in. Because of the early arrival of the hotel, there was no sign of the front desk when I arrived, and I waited for the front desk staff to return soon. The kind smile and service attitude made up for the previous shortcomings. The most need to improve is the sound insulation of the room. When there is a vehicle passing, I feel like I am sleeping on the roadside and I am noisy all night. This hotel is really good if I am not afraid of being disturbed by the sound.
SSuet lingThanks to the friendly staff especially Adeline respond fast and fulfilled my request on birthday decorations. Things need to improve is the room musty smell, gym room out of order and limited parking. Pleasant stay due to room is big and friendly staff.
GGuest UserService is very good from checking in to check out especially at the concierge However, the rooms are abit run down, and there is a damp smell makes it not very comfortable. The power plug location is not practical, it should be at the side table not otherwise.
Breakfast was okay nice spread.
GGuest UserI have stayed in many hotels and even I'm also a hotelier. Requested for early check in at least 15 minutes earlier but the reception strictly allowed to check in after 3pm only. There must be some give and take with guest, then only we can thoroughly enjoy the hotel and service. If the room is ready, please allow the guest to check in abit early. It's not compulsory but it will help to make the guest happy with customer service.
Loved this unassuming little hotel residence! Location: Along Chulia Street, next door to two great Nyonya cafes: Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Koay & Canteen known for its Nyonya kuihs, and Yee Keng Cafe, known for its combination of Nyonya and Hainanese food. Family Mart and other convenience stores are just a walk away, as are the famous bars and restaurants along Love Lane and Chulia Street. Hawker food choices are also all within walking distance. Rooms / Facilities: The modern and beautifully designed rooms are very comfortable, snug, and functional. The bed was very comfortable and as I was upgraded to a king room it felt super luxurious and decadent. It's the first time I have been in rooms fully kitted with Samsung curved screens so my viewing experience was very enjoyable. The 3rd floor was incredibly peaceful. Sometimes, I could hear the music from the nearby bars, but once I switched on the TV, I was in my world. I liked that the TVs were smart and you could access the internet or your networks such as Netflix or even wetv in addition to the local TV and radio channels available. The room was also fitted with a hairdryer and ample sockets for electrical items. Tien provided unlimited brewed coffee and tea at their pantry on the second floor. There is also a huge fridge on the second floor where I was able to store some food and drinks and cutlery and plates for your use. I did not get a chance to try out the mini-plunge pool which together with the rest of the rooftop is accessible 24 hrs. Every now and then I loved being able to pop out and take in the fresh air, and check the weather and temperature before I decided to step out. I enjoyed having my lunch in the dining area on the 2nd floor just before checking out. Redho, the manager, was very hospitable, made me a welcome drink, and showed me to my room, helping me with my luggage, even though I arrived after 11 pm. He also reached out to me to check if everything was ok and on my checkout times. Parking: For those with their cars, the premise does not have parking. Nevertheless, there is an alley just next door where public parking can be arranged for RM8/day and someone is watching over the cars throughout the day and the night. Something to note: the residence is a two-floor premise, with rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. If you do not like to walk upstairs or if you have a lot of luggage, then this may be a challenge or you should pick rooms on the 2nd floor. As hot water, coffee, tea, and fridge facilities are in the pantry, these are not provided in the rooms so you would need to pop down for refills or pack a thermos with you (which I did). Cups, plates, and cutlery are provided which I could bring back to the room to use.
