Initially, we thought we would be selfish and not share our thoughts on Ashen’s Beach house because we wanted to keep it all for ourself, but that wouldn’t be fair for the owners! We had 10 wonderful days and nights there. We were looking for an authentic beachside house away from the main tourist area, and this was truly it. The location is outstanding. A beach 100 yards from the door with very few people There. Sujana and her son Ashen could not have been more kind or helpful. Sujana cooked for us most nights and every meal was delicious. My husband needed a dentist and her son accompanied us to make sure we were ok. They have two beautiful dogs, generally I’m afraid of dogs but these 2 were so gentle (but also great guard dogs) it added to the feeling of security. Our room was spacious and bed super comfortable. We also booked an overnight safari trip which they organised for us. They agreed a very reasonable price (many people offering tours) and the trip was excellent. Dev the driver they recommend was safe, kind and helpful, he also did our airport transfers. If you’re looking for a western style hotel experience then don’t bother, but If you want to experience real Sri Lankan hospitality then Ashen’s is 10/10. We can’t wait for more holiday time to return.

I can only surf the Internet in the lobby, and the scenery in the lobby is also very beautiful. Watching the sunset, coconut grove, beach... Breakfast is also very good, it is ordered, not buffet, the first day I ordered banana pancake, the second day I ordered yogurt mixed grains (that is, yogurt is mixed with various grains, melon seeds and the like. I call a car from the hotel to Colombo for 11,000 rupees, which is a little bit more expensive than the 10,000 rupees listed on the roadside of the ancient city of Galle. I can understand this. The location is a bit biased, but on the beach side, we only had our guests when we stayed, it was a homestay, but the service was good and there was a hearty breakfast. The waiter will advise you on how to travel the best and be satisfied throughout the stay.
