I had a poor experience at the Sheraton in Novi while staying with a family member to celebrate a belated Christmas as we weren't able to get together around Christmas proper. While I was upgraded to a room on the club lounge floor, the guest room I received was not clean by any definition of clean. There was hair on the desk and desk chair, hair on the toilet, hair under the toilet seat, hair on the wrapped bar of soap and soap dish, stains on the desk, and stains on the face tissue container. The single bathrobe hanging in the closet appeared to have been previously worn and didn't have a cincture. On my reservation I specifically requested only 100% feather pillows. My reservation also requested a bathrobe, slippers, extra pillows and extra towels. I didn't receive any of those things. The four pillows were four polyester down-alternative pillows. Those pillows are horrible. They always feel like someone stuffed cotton balls in a pillowcase. During check-in I noticed a sign at the front desk saying daily housekeeping is not provided, unless specially requested. The major cleanliness issues that I experienced are a direct result of what happens when hotels don't clean rooms and other spaces each and every day. I received zero Marriott Bonvoy elite status recognition. Specifically, I was not offered the choice at check-in of breakfast in the restaurant, an amenity or points. I complained to the general manager, who to his credit acknowledged the lack of cleanliness was unacceptable, fully apologized and took responsibility. To resolve the issue, he offered to comp my stay and ensure that the room was thoroughly cleaned while we were out of the room and off-property at a nearby shopping mall. He also apologized for the lack of Bonvoy recognition and provided the $100 cash compensation that is required by Marriott for not offering guest with platinum or higher Bonvoy status the choice at check-in of breakfast in the restaurant, an amenity or points. When we returned, the room was properly cleaned. The pillows were replaced with feather pillows, although none of the feather pillows had pillow protectors or pillowcase liners. Two clean bathrobes and two pairs of slippers were placed in the closet. The general manager was also kind enough to leave a bottle of wine in the room. My family member was really appreciative of that gesture. Despite the issues, the staff that I encountered throughout the stay were polite, welcoming and hospitable. That aside, there was zero excuse for the cleanliness issues or the lack of attention to what was specified on the reservation The club lounge was open with an average evening offering that included a selection of assorted cheeses, crackers, grapes, fruit and some basic canapés. Besides free nonalcoholic drinks, an honor bar featured cheap house wine ($5 retail bottles of wine) selling for $5 a glass. The club lounge is a nice smaller space. My family and I chose to spend a night in a hotel due to our air conditioner breaking. We chose to stay in this hotel vs others that we are rewards members because their website stated that both their indoor pool and their hot breakfast buffet were open (both basically a must when you have 2 kids and was LITERALLY my search criteria). Upon checking in, I'm met with a SIGN stating that the pool is closed. The breakfast buffet is closed and that they are offering bagged Togo breakfasts in mornings. I told the clerk I didn't want to stay because their website didn't reflect this and was told he had already completed my check in and would not be able to do a refund, so we decided to stay after paying the money. Through the night we had a neighbor on the floor that kept playing music loudly and was in and out of the room slamming doors and would wake our youngest up. I went downstairs to complain after the 3rd time and it was 2am. The night clerk was nice and apologetic, but just wrote down the problem and said she would give it to the manager the following day (did me no good that night). The beds werent equipped with the right amount of pillows and werent very comfortable. Needless to say I slept all of maybe an hour. I was so upset by it all I got my family up at 6am, packed our things and went to check out. Upon checkout (which was about 7:30am), the night clerk from before was having an issue with the person in front of me and I formed me that if I had a deposit I had to wait. We waited 20 min while she had the miscommunication with the person in front of me trying to stay another night. When I got up there to check out, she said oh, you paid with a card you are good. I asked about the bagged breakfast and she said oh yeah those, and didn't have them ready as it stated they should be on the signage.

Bertha ( Front Dek Manager) was my first contact and she is WONDERFUL!! A little later I met the two Owners who made me feel right at home. Rooms very clean, Wonderful bed, everything just right. Definitely will be back.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Farmington Hills - Detroit. I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

I come to this area every year for a classic car cruise and visit family. This is the closest hotel to my family. I have stayed here in years past and its been average. Nothing special but I don't spend a lot of time there to begin with. This visit the room was overcome with a musty odor. The only way to combat it was to run the A/C very high and keep the bathroom fanning running. After a day in the sun we would come back to this ice box. Without doing that the room smelled and none of the linens would dry. And it was't really that humid out. The Wifi was also very glitchy. These are enough factors that when I return next year I won't be coming back to this Hampton Inn.

Upon walking into this hotel, we liked what we saw. The lobby area was nice and inviting.The room was nice and clean. We Loved having a fridge and a microwave. The ammenities were nice. The bed was very comfortable. We didn't use the pool or exercise area. We arrived later in the evening and checked out before breakfast even began. Can I just say tho......AMBER! She was absolutely amazing. She greeted us with a smile and a great attitude which we needed after what we had gone thru at our previous hotel. What a breath of fresh air. We chatted on and on while we checked in. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she was. When we had come down to the lobby shortly after checking in she was mopping the floor and I must say she was happily doing it. She always had a smile on her face. Hotels need more GSA like her. You have a real gem on your hands there. We just loved her.

Very nice Staff & helpful ! Nice rooms , clean & beds are comfy ! Rooms have where if you want you can cook if needed ＞ Rooms have a kichen area in the room for you to use . Very nice thing to have when you are staying for few days or more ! Only no dishes , but they have some in lobby you can buy or rent like I think . I didn't use any so not sure what they are . Rooms are very nice . The breakfast you have to buy each day , wasn't to bad , it always nice to have hot stuff & other things to get . At least they offer something but you have to pay for it , that the bad part too! The other I enjoy the rooms & staff !

We chose this hotel over a different less expensive hotel down the street because of the highly reviewed restaurant and the beautiful interior photos on the website. We paid around $400 for this room. When we arrived, we discovered that the hotel was hosting a Classic Cars event. All of the parking spaces at the front entrance and along the sides were taken up by Classic Cars and parade tents filled with partying people. There was a very loud band blocking the hotel entrance as well, and it was raining. This all might have been fun if we were Classic Car enthusiasts, but we are not. We're just regular family people and we were there for a baptism at the church down the road. The hotel bar and restaurant were completely filled with event guests. We discovered we had been booked into an Accessible room, meaning that it was outfitted for wheelchairs, but we are young(ish) and not disabled. Other than that, the room was pretty......until we opened the curtains and were staring at what must have been the entire HVAC system for the hotel. Possibly worst of all, there was a piped-in scent throughout the hotel - even in our room - that reminded me of cheap 1980's men's musk cologne. It was awful. It permeated our clothes, and my hair. All night, cars were revving their engines. However, the front desk staff was very nice. What we experienced was definitely not what was advertised by this hotel.
