I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Farmington Hills - Detroit. I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

I had a poor experience at the Sheraton in Novi while staying with a family member to celebrate a belated Christmas as we weren't able to get together around Christmas proper. While I was upgraded to a room on the club lounge floor, the guest room I received was not clean by any definition of clean. There was hair on the desk and desk chair, hair on the toilet, hair under the toilet seat, hair on the wrapped bar of soap and soap dish, stains on the desk, and stains on the face tissue container. The single bathrobe hanging in the closet appeared to have been previously worn and didn't have a cincture. On my reservation I specifically requested only 100% feather pillows. My reservation also requested a bathrobe, slippers, extra pillows and extra towels. I didn't receive any of those things. The four pillows were four polyester down-alternative pillows. Those pillows are horrible. They always feel like someone stuffed cotton balls in a pillowcase. During check-in I noticed a sign at the front desk saying daily housekeeping is not provided, unless specially requested. The major cleanliness issues that I experienced are a direct result of what happens when hotels don't clean rooms and other spaces each and every day. I received zero Marriott Bonvoy elite status recognition. Specifically, I was not offered the choice at check-in of breakfast in the restaurant, an amenity or points. I complained to the general manager, who to his credit acknowledged the lack of cleanliness was unacceptable, fully apologized and took responsibility. To resolve the issue, he offered to comp my stay and ensure that the room was thoroughly cleaned while we were out of the room and off-property at a nearby shopping mall. He also apologized for the lack of Bonvoy recognition and provided the $100 cash compensation that is required by Marriott for not offering guest with platinum or higher Bonvoy status the choice at check-in of breakfast in the restaurant, an amenity or points. When we returned, the room was properly cleaned. The pillows were replaced with feather pillows, although none of the feather pillows had pillow protectors or pillowcase liners. Two clean bathrobes and two pairs of slippers were placed in the closet. The general manager was also kind enough to leave a bottle of wine in the room. My family member was really appreciative of that gesture. Despite the issues, the staff that I encountered throughout the stay were polite, welcoming and hospitable. That aside, there was zero excuse for the cleanliness issues or the lack of attention to what was specified on the reservation The club lounge was open with an average evening offering that included a selection of assorted cheeses, crackers, grapes, fruit and some basic canapés. Besides free nonalcoholic drinks, an honor bar featured cheap house wine ($5 retail bottles of wine) selling for $5 a glass. The club lounge is a nice smaller space. The service in the hotel is very good. They can also help with printing. There is 24-hour free hot water and coffee and other small drinks. It is very suitable for Asians on business trips. The breakfast is also delicious and there are many choices. The waffles are great. The hotel is also newly opened. The environment Very good. The only drawback is that it is very close to the road and it will be a little noisy, but overall it is still very good and the service is very good!

We were there for a quick holiday. Fast check in with very pleasant staff. Was given complimentary breakfast and coffee-I assume as an Elite Bonvoy member. Room was large , clean and great view from the 12th floor was beautiful. Easy to get everywhere from this location.

The outside of this hotel makes it look quite clean and accommodating however, looks are deceiving. I was booked a room for 2 nights, (not cheap) and was assigned a room at the back of the hotel. The room was not as clean as it should be. The lamp in the corner was broken, there is a distinct lack of accessible plugs for laptops and cell phone. The carpet looked like it needed a good shampoo and the chair by the bed definitely needed an upholstery clean. The bathroom was far from clean with a dirty tissue dispenser, a portable mirror on the vanity was absolutely filthy underneath and the tile calking on the floor was brown with heavy staines. Even the room number on the telephone did not match the actual room number. The room safe was unable to be opened as the previous guest had locked it and left it with their own combination. Don't waste your hard earned money on this place. I decided to only stay the one night.

Upon walking into this hotel, we liked what we saw. The lobby area was nice and inviting.The room was nice and clean. We Loved having a fridge and a microwave. The ammenities were nice. The bed was very comfortable. We didn't use the pool or exercise area. We arrived later in the evening and checked out before breakfast even began. Can I just say tho......AMBER! She was absolutely amazing. She greeted us with a smile and a great attitude which we needed after what we had gone thru at our previous hotel. What a breath of fresh air. We chatted on and on while we checked in. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she was. When we had come down to the lobby shortly after checking in she was mopping the floor and I must say she was happily doing it. She always had a smile on her face. Hotels need more GSA like her. You have a real gem on your hands there. We just loved her.

I this was a business trip and it is one of go to hotels because it has a pool which is heated to a reasonable temperature. Very nice hotel, good breakfast. People very friendly. Front desk efficient and attentive. I find the staff very accommodating.

Very nice Staff & helpful ! Nice rooms , clean & beds are comfy ! Rooms have where if you want you can cook if needed ＞ Rooms have a kichen area in the room for you to use . Very nice thing to have when you are staying for few days or more ! Only no dishes , but they have some in lobby you can buy or rent like I think . I didn't use any so not sure what they are . Rooms are very nice . The breakfast you have to buy each day , wasn't to bad , it always nice to have hot stuff & other things to get . At least they offer something but you have to pay for it , that the bad part too! The other I enjoy the rooms & staff !

We chose this hotel over a different less expensive hotel down the street because of the highly reviewed restaurant and the beautiful interior photos on the website. We paid around $400 for this room. When we arrived, we discovered that the hotel was hosting a Classic Cars event. All of the parking spaces at the front entrance and along the sides were taken up by Classic Cars and parade tents filled with partying people. There was a very loud band blocking the hotel entrance as well, and it was raining. This all might have been fun if we were Classic Car enthusiasts, but we are not. We're just regular family people and we were there for a baptism at the church down the road. The hotel bar and restaurant were completely filled with event guests. We discovered we had been booked into an Accessible room, meaning that it was outfitted for wheelchairs, but we are young(ish) and not disabled. Other than that, the room was pretty......until we opened the curtains and were staring at what must have been the entire HVAC system for the hotel. Possibly worst of all, there was a piped-in scent throughout the hotel - even in our room - that reminded me of cheap 1980's men's musk cologne. It was awful. It permeated our clothes, and my hair. All night, cars were revving their engines. However, the front desk staff was very nice. What we experienced was definitely not what was advertised by this hotel.

Breakfast is general, bread, cereal, milk and the like. The location is on the roadside, there are no commercial outlets around, but this is not a problem. Within a few kilometers of driving, there are more shopping malls. There is a parking lot. The hotel is relatively simple and has no place for children to play.
