We visited for our honeymoon in July. Pre arrival we had great communication with the hotel - setting us up with a private transfer and letting them know we were on our honeymoon. We arrived just before dinner ended and we were shown to a table so we could get something to eat before the kitchen closed. We were then shown to our room via a golf buggy (the guys who drove these are amazingly friendly, efficient and always stop for you if there’s space on a buggy and you’re walking up the hills to the main building). We had paid for a room with a private pool which we were initially amazed by, but quickly realised we had an ant infestation due to a hole in our front door! To be fair to the hotel, we raised this issue that night and in the morning reception had arranged a new room for us, and this was much cleaner and I couldn’t fault how they handled the situation. The rooms were dated but the private pool was incredible and we used this instead of the main pool. The beach was a steep walk up/down, or you can get the lift, which was slow but an option. The beach had comfy loungers and a great bar. The staff here were very attentive and the lady at the bar quickly learnt our drink orders and would come and deliver them as soon as we’d sat down. The food here was much nicer than the options at the main restaurant so we ate here for lunch daily. The main restaurant still needed reservation bookings for dinner which was annoying and the options were limited outside of the salads (of which there was a great choice). I’m usually a fan of all inclusives and I know the limitations, but it was suprisingly limited for a 5* hotel. There were also hours inbetween lunch and dinner where there were no ‘all inclusive’ food options available - any food needed to be paid for which I’ve never experienced before. The outside dining area was lovely. We spent most of our evenings at the bar in the far corner overlooking the sea rather than the main bar with the entertainment. The barman at this bar was amazing - we went above and beyond and remembered our room number and drinks orders each evening. When it wasn’t busy we would chat and he was such an asset to the hotel. He was working alone and sometimes it was so busy I was amazed how calm he stayed making multiple drinks orders. Overall the staff made this hotel. the hotel itself is very dated and desperately needs an update. Pros - friendly staff (servers, reception, golf buggies, barman) - private pool - beach bar food - beautiful location and grounds Cons - dated decor - holes in doors that let ants in - lack of food options - no all inclusive food options between lunch and dinner
