Stayed for three nights while attending Comic Con at the royal highland centre which is conveniently just next door. Check in and out was no problem. The room was nice and clean and housekeeping refreshed it daily. As a housekeeper for a hotel myself i definitely appreciate the good job they did so thank you to them it's nice not having to be the one cleaning it for once. If i had one small complaint it would be that the water in the shower doesn't go very hot and i definitely like a hot shower. Apart from that it was lovely. Food wise i only had breakfast each day as i was away during the day but the breakfast was a good selection and everything was fresh. Overall it was a good stay and i would stay again if an event is held near there that i'm going to. Hopefully the housekeeping got the cakes that i left in the room, i didn't want to squash them in my bag and they were too expensive and fancy just to throw away (bought them at the event). Thanks for the comfortable stay!

First time I’ve stayed here in a while and have to say it was a much better stay. Rooms had been modernised and mind had a walk in shower rather than a tiny bath , not sure if all rooms are updated but if you ask for walk in shower you will get a new room Location. Is good aside from a tricky junction outside where if travelling east it’s more awkward, nearly had a taxi come into the side of me. Retail park across the road Nice bar with some food options

Edinburgh Old Town
The hotel is decent and a good place to stay. Short walk to the Royal Mile using the alley just beside the hotel and using the same alley to cut down the distance to Waverley Station. I have only 2 things to put as a downside which didn’t really affect us much but it would’ve been better if these has to be improved or altered in the future so that guests would really enjoy a hundred percent staying in this hotel. No 1. The breakfast: it’s all the same every single day. It would have been nicer if at least they change every other day, like menu 1 and menu 2. No 2, they charge 1 pound per luggage if you will leave (as a guest) your luggage. Guests who have stayed should at least be given this little thing as a perk. I know it’s just a pound for a luggage, why not just give it for free since I stayed at the hotel for 6 days right? Nevertheless, it’s a decent place to stay at but I would probably try other hotels when I go back to Edinburgh.

Before you arrive, make sure you sort your parking at QPark at Omni nearby if you are driving. You have to book it in advance online and use the discount code. The procedure changed in April (apparently) between the time of us booking and the date of arrival, nobody told us, and QPark point blank refused to honour the discount code when we drove out, whilst the hotel receptionist just shrugged his shoulders when we told him at check out. That cost me 14 pounds extra, which was just annoying - and not really how you treat a Platinum member and at 24 pounds a day full price per day or part of day, the parking is not cheap. We had a bigger room with a sofa bed (318), which was fine and the bathroom was big. But again when the shower gel dispenser ran out we asked for it to be replaced in the morning at the check in desk, but returned that evening and it was still empty. The towels were changed every day, the double bed was small, but the room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was often crowded, a basic buffet, but the bar staff were friendly the lobby is a haven of peace in which to sip a cider. There is no fitness room or gym, and the property is expensive in peak season for an Holiday Inn Express. At the end of the stay, I did not feel I had received value for money especially when hit by QPark's larceny. But the internet worked fine and the location is very convenient...

The hotel was conveniently situated for the tram into Edinburgh. Unfortunately the TV didn’t work when got into the room nor did the extraction fan in the bathroom. I called reception and the man got the TV working but he didn’t get the fan working properly. He said do you want some room spray and I said no I want it working. He offered to see if we could change rooms but no one got back to me. The breakfast was average.
