We had a one night stay here on a 10-day Midwest road trip. Our room was very comfortable and spacious, the breakfast, which was in the connected Old Chicago, was delicious, and the staff was very helpful and courteous. We didn't get to use any of the amenities, but they looked nice as well. The extra charge for our dog was $20/night, which was very reasonable. Since we arrived late after a long drive and some hiking, it was very convenient to have the Old Chicago connected to the hotel, and their patio is also dog friendly.

Horrible! Stay away from this hotel!! Stayed 6/9/2022 through 6/13/2022. GM Kimberly Paxton and Operations Mgr Derek Autobee refused to address noise issues (I got zero response from either of them on the messages and 2 emails I sent during our stay) even though I asked daily to speak to a manager and to be moved. Why would they leave their business cards on the counter if they don’t want to be contacted? Tia at the front desk was not helpful when I asked to be moved to another Holiday Inn Express (she offered to give me the phone number so I could call them myself claiming they are not the same company). Owen repeatedly told us stories and did not follow through on one single thing he promised (new room, points, etc.). On Sunday he was completely confused and kept telling us how tired he was (join the club, we were exhausted!!). There was some kind of kids baseball tournament over the weekend with hundreds of screaming kids at all hours in the hallways. Plus we were situated next to the elevator even though our profile asks to be away from the elevator. One of the vending machines was extremely noisy. Our room key had to be replaced 5 times. The breakfast buffet was ravaged and packed with kids. We saw the kids handling the muffins and danish; touching them and putting them back… ick!! We tried to no avail to find another hotel. Had we been made aware a few months ago that they were hosting an event we would have had plenty of time to find a different hotel but we didn’t know until we walked in and experienced the zoo. The lack of hospitality and courtesy by this staff was a huge disappointment. We traveled a long way for a wedding and our stay was completely ruined. I have recorded some of the noises, any single one of them would be unbearable, imagine the yelling, elevator and vending machine all screaming in symphony…

It wasn’t a bad hotel but when I went to check in I had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to come to the desk. I work at a hotel if you are going to be away from it that long have a way for them to get ahold of you. Also we got kicked out of breakfast area because we were finishing our breakfast and it was after 9 when they stop having it. I believe we could have been allowed to finish. Otherwise not a bad place to stay.

GGuest UserOur stay was wonderful! The staff were outstanding and very responsive. We always got a “see you later, enjoy” and “welcome back” which is something you don’t often hear at a front desk. The breakfast was good, with two waffle makers, one making 4 small waffles, great for families. They had eggs, sausage and potatoes as the hot items and were better than those we’ve had elsewhere. There is a good selection of breakfast items such as bagels, muffins, cereal and oatmeal. Our room was very comfortable, with a large shower. During this age of COVID, there is not daily housekeeping, but you can ask for it and also ask for other things, such as extra towels, coffee, etc. The property itself is very clean and well maintained. We will definitely stay here again. We would like to give special commendation to Carolyn and Tootie (best front desk dog ever!) She was the best, always asking if there was anything we needed and just bringing a great personality to the front desk. She is such a people person who really cares that you have a great stay.
GGuest UserWe travel a lot and stay at many places. We wanted a sample of a bed and breakfast and a more traditional stay while going to our Godchild's wedding. It is an older Victorian house with about 15 rooms, which does give breakfast. Here are a few items that need to be attended to to bring this facility up to par. The wallpaper in our room and the hallways were starting to peel away and instead of gluing, they put matching tape to hold it together, there were stains on the rugs in our room and holes in the carpet in the halls. On each floor, the fixtures, old as they be, did'nt have matching bulbs, or many bulbs were missing. So the lighting was off. The shower caulk in our bathtub was moldy. The left handle on the sink was loose and came off. The ceiling above our bed was patched and not repainted so there were two different colors. The chairs were antique, for the ambiance, but they could not be sat on. The owner needs to put more money into restoring this location. Also, communication with the bed and breakfast was different. Every time I would call, the owner would just text me. I had to get all the info, and codes to get into the place by text. It would have been nice to get this info ahead of time and maybe have a copy in the room as well as how to use the TV, because it was apple tv. Also, there is no AC in this old house, which we understood, but there were portable AC units in halls and rooms, we were hoping that the electric panels could take all of these plug ins, along with microwave and refrigerators in the rooms. No one is ever at the front desk, you can only text him to talk. Not personable, I understand because of covid, but we felt that we were let alone in the house with no one at the desk. He just told us that we can text if we need anything. I had to text and ask for my receipt after I got home. I probably would not stay here again. Needs work and better communication.
