SBH Monica Beach Resort

Very bad experience with cockroaches in our room. We brought them also home in out suitcases and had to call an expert to exterminate them. Awful!!! You do not expect this from 4 star hotel and from your holiday. And they at hotel consider this as normal.

Certainly not recommended. I give one star for the location on a wonderful beach. Other elements such as food, animations, service are less than average. The most serious problem of this hotel is the condition and cleanliness of the family rooms. Musty smell, damp, mold on the walls and insects. The hotel manager is dishonest and will lie to you with a smile. The service behind the bar is incompetent and rude. I advise against, vacation with TUI travel agency.

Definitely NOT a 4* hotel, at best 3*. Shower didn’t work, hairdryer broken.WiFi awful. Pool was dirty with scum and bird pooh. Food was always cold and not appealing. Room definitely needs a revamp, looks old and tatty. At best the entertainment in the evening was good. Definitely would not recommend or stay again

The hotel is ok. Nice location, good all inclusive, friendly stuff. I am giving one star because of the lunapark next to the hotel. The street in front of the hotel is closed and they start playing loud music already in the afternoon. Then there is a party with very loud music and stage just next to the hotel. On Friday bass was so loud that the building structure was shaking and the windows were vibrating. The party ended at 3am and only then we were able to get some sleep. On Thursday there was another party but this one ended at 2am (again: no sleep until then).

I'm just back from a weeks stay at The Monica Beach Resort and thought I would write my review to counteract some of the negative reviews posted recently. I have therefore given it a, fairly generous 4 stars. I booked directly with the hotel and was allocated a very nice room,30, in the main building. The room was large with a very comfortable bed and just as important great pillows. I slept very well throughout my stay. There was a good sized settee, small table and chars and a large balcony overlooking the pool again with two chairs and a table. I would often bring drinks up here in the evening as the seating was more relaxing than around the bar. The shower was excellent, plenty of hot water and it heated up very quickly. Daily cleaning was carried out to a high standard. There are 2 bars open during the day, pool bar and Africa bar next to the beach. I had no trouble getting served in either of them, table clearing etc. could be a bit more efficient and the Africa bar could do with some miner refurbishment but no major grumbles. Now I am afraid a few negatives. The food in the restaurant was not great, a lack of variety and often some items not hot enough. The exception was on one day when customer review forms were left on the tables, and that night everything was much better. Try to keep that standard up all the time! On the drinks side. Unlike a previous review I enjoyed the coffee from the machines. The alcoholic drinks were much as most AI hotels, I was happy with the beer and Spanish spirits but thought the red wine was particularly poor. One issue which should be addressed urgently is the situation of the hand dryers in the toilets, practically all of them don't work, but instead of providing paper towels as an alternative loads of toilet rolls have been supplied. Now, management, have you tried drying your hands on this toilet roll, firstly you need metres of the stuff but then if your hands are properly wet the paper just disintegrates into soggy bits. Customer hand washing in places with a buffet style restaurant is very important and this lack of hand drying facilities does not encourage thorough washing. I would also suggest hand sanitiser be made available around the hotel. I joined the All Inclusive by SBH scheme which allows guests to use the AI facilities in another 3 SBH hotels in Costa Calma. I had lunch and used the bars quite regularly so thought the extra cost well worth it.

I arrived at SBH Monica on 02/09/24 as stated in my booking confirmation, fully paid for and booked 6 months prior to the date. The receptionist checked the passports, then she looked at us and said "sorry, we are fully booked". I asked her what she meant by that ... I was puzzled. She said "you need to go to Taro Beach, otherwise contact your provider because we don't have a room for you". THAT'S AN ABSURD!!!!!!!!!!! Terrible customer service, terrible management. Everything happened so quickly, that SBH had already planned this in advance. Because besides moving to Taro Beach they offered us golden bracelets as if they think I would be coming back and forth from one hotel to the other. Room upgrade which for me is useless, I go in holidays to stay on the beach/pool/outside not in my room. We were travelling as a couple, we did not need extra space. And offered us a safe which we refused. So SBH do not comply with their part of the "booking agreement" and to make customers "shut up" they offer them something "extra". Disgusting.... Unprofessional
