The best hotel in Germany. The western restaurant on the second floor is especially amazing. You need to make reservations in advance at night. The details of the service are great. The hotel is the official designated accommodation hotel for the European Cup. I was lucky enough to see the England and Belgium players.

The hotel is an easy walk (just a few minutes) from the railway station. It is about two minutes walk to the cathedral which you can see (and hear) from the hotel: the bells chime quite loudly at about 08:00 am and other times. Rooms are a decent size and the beds are very comfortable. It is clean and in the room there is a safe, tv, bathroom with a shower (that oddly has no shower curtain or screen - the floor gets quite wet). Breakfast is good and includes the normal range of hot and cold foods from croissants, toast, bacon, egg, sausage, buns, cereals, hams, salamis, cheeses, coffee, tea, hot water and some really very nice fruit juices (some of the nicest I have tasted in a hotel). The staff in the dining area were really pleasant and friendly. The reception staff were a little more varied but polite and efficient enough. Outside the hotel doesn't look that much but it is generally pleasant and a great base inside. Next door are some convenience store types of shops and a kebab house that I tried and it was exactly the same as back home. McDonalds is just across the road, if that is your thing. We walked to all of the Christmas markets (where we did most of our eating) and around the city centre and down to the Rhine. All are in easy walking distance. There is a bag room where you can leave your bags upon checkout and come back for them later. The security of that was a little lax as people just walked in from the street and took their bags. I went to the reception and told them I was taking mine and the lady looked as if to say, ”ok fine.” No checks. There is also little checking of people walking in from the street and just going upstairs but the doors on the rooms were pretty secure. The lighting is not great in the room and the lights around the hotel are seemingly hanging from their connections. Overall it was a great base from which to explore the city and get to and from. good night's sleep - despite the bells and a good breakfast. I would stay again for a short break in the city.

This is not an ideal hotel at all. I would not give it anymore than a poor rating. The outer front of the hotel is awful and actually looks like it's closed. Very uninviting! On walking in, I was ”met” (not greeted) by a female member of staff who was OK (she did offer some conversation).... but not the most welcoming of people. I was kept waiting initially while she fetched someone else. In the meantime, I filled in some forms and a rather grumpy and disheveled looking person arrived. He mentioned I had to pay a fee for something but it wasn''t really clear what it was for. I reluctantly paid as it was only 4 euros and I didn't really understand German - had it been anymore, I would might have been more inclined to argue. The room (I was in 107) was frankly reminiscent of something from the Bates Motel. Very old furniture. The room was hot (I had to open the window) and although there was a TV, adequate WIFI, cleans towels etc - the standard was just frankly horrendous. I saw a pube on the wall in the bathroom! For this next part (I take partial responsibility as I WAS warned) but after 10 there is no reception which means you have to take your two keys with you. Now I stupidly assumed it was because the front door would be locked after 10. The real reason is because the hotel room door itself locks behind you. I walked out of the hotel room as I went to see if I could find someone to lend me a fan and the door locked behind me. Without anyone in reception, I was stranded late at night in the corridor. I had to physically climb out of the window and LUCKILY I had left my own open due to the hot weather.... otherwise I don't know what I would have done. I did NOT have the breakfast. It was included in the price but frankly everything seemed so sub-standard that I didn't want to risk it. Honestly, I know you get what you pay for but this wasn't even worth that and I paid approximately £50.

The hotel is in a great location, right by the central station and in easy walking distance from many of the attractions around Köln. The front desk staff were very friendly and made check in a quick and easy process. The room smelt strongly of stale cigarettes when I checked in, even though it was marked a nonsmoking room. One of the duvets on the bed was dirty with caked on smudges that obviously hadn't been laundered since the previous guest. Fortunately the bed has two duvets so I could use the second one which was clean. Check out was listed as 12pm, but on the day of checkout a cleaner entered my room before 9am and rudely told me to leave immediately. I tried speaking to her in German and English to tell her I still had hours available in the room and she wouldn't respond so I felt forced to pack up and leave while she waited. This is a budget friendly hotel in a good location, and none of these issues are dealbreakers on their own. I probably wouldn't return to stay because the experience combined was quite negative.

Loved my stay at this hotel - Not super luxury, but perfect for a short stay. Excellent rooms, wifi and shower) all you need) and the boxed breakfast was exceeding expectations of everyone in our group. Would definitely recommend On a sidenote, only went to the roof Terras at night, but brilliant views

The room is big enough, clean and the transportation is convenient. I will stay there next time
Enjoy a relaxing and comfortable stay at ibis Koeln Centrum. In the heart of the city, you will be greeted by us with Cologne warmth 24 hours a day. This 2 star superior hotel is located between the Cologne Rings and the old town, close to the cathedral. Park in the underground parking garage and quickly reach many destinations in the city from the Barbarossaplatz metro stop.

Exactly what you’d expect from an ibis hotel. Rooms were very small but clean, and adequate for just showering and sleeping every night. Good location right near Barbarossaplatz station, lines 16 and 18 can take you straight into the city centre. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel but right next to the station was a ‘BackWerk’ which had all you’d need for a quick breakfast.

We had 5 rooms during Orgatec Exhibition. Hotel was new, employees were kind, breakfast was good and in general it was a clean hotel. It is not in city center but really easy to reach Rudofplatz or Heumarkt with 2 Tram Lines and it takes only 5 stops. Also there were some restaurant and supermarkets around for our needs. Therefore we enjoyed our stay in hotel. Only thing which was negative, you need to inform reception each morning for cleaning rooms. Otherwise it was not cleaned. (we are not informed about this during check-in so we learned that after first day) Despite we informed that for each day, second day of our stay 2/5 rooms are not cleaned. Except this, it was all well clean

Our honeymoon trip took us here for the first night. We wanted to stop in Cologne to see some sights the next morning, This was a perfect location just off the motorway, and only 20 minutes back in to Cologne. When we arrived, the staff member that saw us in was pleasant, satisfactory English, but seemed to lack any personality, like she was bored. The restaurant in the hotel was closed when we arrived, when we queried this, we were told its a breakfast only facility. I asked for some recommendations for the local area to get some dinner, I was handed an A4 sheet with multiple eateries. My Wife and I like to read some reviews before going, and found only a couple out of the whole list was on Google or Trip Advisor, so not the most helpful. OK if your not bothered though. Dimitri Grill up the road, about 20 minute walk, I highly recommend this place! (Reviewed separately) The room was pleasant, odd shape, clean and comfortable. It had a safe, sofa and chairs, bed was hard, which was nice. The shower was amazing, could have stayed in there all day. The room however was only made up for one person, we had to call down to get more bedding and towels. These turned out to be single duvets only. The hotel don't stock double or king, only singles. There was a coffee and tea facilities however the kettle is only useable under the wall mounted TV, so the steam and heat goes in to the TV, the coffee was not nice at all, and again was only made up to be enough for one. Car park was odd, its free to get in with a barrier that goes up automatically when you move towards it, however to get you need a token from reception to leave. The staff did remind us of this, however there was no check on if we were guests or not. If your a light sleeper due to light, take an eye mask as the curtains are as thin as cotton. If your looking for a pamper, or some fluffy stuff, this is not the hotel. This is purely a business hotel, or a bed and go kind of hotel.

Outstanding
GGuest UserWe had to check in very late (about 02:30), but that was not a problem at all. The service was very friendly and helpful. We had booked a room for 3 people over Booking.com that was unfortunately no longer available on site. We were fully unproblematic and without additional costs ”distributed” to two Comfort double rooms and received another drink from the house bar for free as an excuse. The rooms themselves are very well equipped and comfortable. The included breakfast was the “hammer” and very rich and varied. Of us absolutely recommended. A parking house is right next to and has not cost us anything.
GGuest UserThe Courtyard Marriott of Cologne was clean, beautiful and a great location. It was a short walk to the Central train Station and near all the sights of Cologne. I was only there for one night and did not get to experience the breakfast as we checked out before it was served, but they did provide me with a lunch box which included a ham and cheese sandwich, a banana and a water. There is coffee and boxed water 24 hours a day in the lobby. The beds were super comfortable and the temperature of the room was ideal, as we had control over the air conditioner, whereas other hotels we stayed in the same week, did not allow us control and we were very warm. The room we had was a nice size and the view was of the empty courtyard which was extrememly quiet and definitely highly desirable. Front staff upon checking in, was not friendly, however after check in everyone else we came in contact with was very friendly. I didn't get the ladies name at the front desk, but she definitely didn't give us a positive welcome. Glad her shift ended and everyone else we dealt with, and passed was extremely friendly and that is what the experience should be like.
CCHENSHUThe hotel is right next to the Cologne Cathedral, and there is a great restaurant downstairs, next to the train station, the traffic is very convenient. The room you stayed in was very spacious and you could spread out your suitcase at will. Drinks in the minibar are free and good value for money. The reception staff were friendly and happy to answer questions. The bellmen are also friendly. Parents stayed very satisfied.
GGuest UserThe (non-upgraded) room is relatively spacious, well designed and quiet. I'm glad I did not accept a higher cost upgrade option. It was great for a 4-day stay. There's a separate area for clothing and storage, and a small refrigerator. There was a wall of windows, good light and effective blackout curtains. The in-room coffee service is nice - I didn't find this in my other hotels. The breakfast buffet is worth the price, especially considering the quality, and that a single cup of coffee elsewhere can easily be 5 Euros. It's not a train station hotel (one mile away from the HBF and the Dom), but this hotel is in a very nice area, and is convenient to a great many dining and entertainment options for a Cologne tourist. It's not horrible to take the train here (with one connection) if you are reasonably mobile. Public transit options are many once you figure them out. The USB charging outlets are helpful -- and I did not find these in any other of my hotels. Overall, this chain is a significant step up from the likes of Ibis and Motel One. This hotel is very much worth the reasonable premium it charges. Desk staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my visit. I would happily return to this property.
GGuest UserJust an absolute great experience staying there easy to find from central station. The staff are very welcome in. Everything we requested before we arrived. Was there just the overall great day and a great great location. Definitely want to stay there again. Would recommend this to anybody.
JJoe the world citizenThe hotel is located beside the train station. There are many restaurants nearby and the cathedral is not too far away. The staffs were a little weird. They tried to be funny but maybe something was lost in translation and made us feeling uncomfortable. One of the staffs didn’t understand our question in English, but instead of trying to understand our question, she insisted her answer which left us more confused. Another staff completely ignored us when we were trying to talk to him because he was “busy” doing something else behind the desk although he made a lot of uncomfortable jokes at the beginning.
MMobile36521653348My wife and I disagree a bit on this. I felt let down and would score 3. She’s more forgiving so it gets a 4. The hotel is clearly a 5/5 if you’re scoring in style and service. Lovely breakfast but the queue for coffee was irritating. Whoever designed the rooms appears to have never had to stay in them! Our junior suite had 2 TVs and neither had anything worth watching and the bedroom one wasn’t even useable. It was at 90 degrees to the bed and not on a swivel. Therefore you could only see it if you were stood in the doorway. Similarly the rooms were massive. But the lovely bathroom was designed in such a way that I knocked my arms on the pointless panelling when doing my teeth. There was no room for washbags at all. Light fittings. Good luck figuring those out! If you want function - there’s other options. If you want style - enjoy this offering.
Jjerry=chenI saw that there is a Wyndham five-star hotel in Beijing before, so I thought it was good and booked it. The location is really good, just next to Cologne Station Square, just across the road. The service of the front desk girl is also very good and very enthusiastic. The room is pitifully small, and the bed is almost impossible to turn over. The hotel has been decorated for a long time, and the hygiene is average but not dirty. It may be because of the old facilities. The elevator is very small, and the elevator can only accommodate one person with a slightly larger suitcase. The hotel is next to the Cologne Cathedral, and next to the commercial area, which is convenient for shopping and dining. I didn't pay attention to not choosing breakfast when booking the room, so I bought it separately later. The breakfast category is okay.
The reason for the location of this select hotel in an area devoid of personality, tourist attractions or facilities is totally unknown to me. And to get to the hotel, from Koln central station you have to change several means of transport. The price is really indecent for what it offers. He tries to stand out but fails miserably. For a 4-star hotel, the rooms are small, with limited equipment. There is no minibar or mini-fridge, no safe for valuables. Even a wardrobe for clothes is not provided, instead you will find a sheath in the wall with several hangers. And the concept of the bathroom is totally impractical: open bathroom in the room, with all the steam that spreads in the room, without towel holders. There is no possibility of heating the room, or at least it didn't work, given that the outside temperature during the night was close to freezing. A big problem was serving breakfast: around 7 am it was impossible to find a single seat at the table. At check-out I was asked to pay for the room again, although I had paid at check-in and I also had the issued invoice. In short, there are much better places in this world to stay and feel welcome!
GGuest UserThis was my first time staying at a hostel as I wanted a bit of traveller experience and most importantly keep my trip to Cologne cheap and affordable for three days. I read tons of reviews before I opted to stay at a&o and I was convinced this was ideal place in terms of location, affordability and also getting the best experience as a traveller. On my arrival, I was greeted with a warm welcome by there friendly staff at reception, I quickly observed what they had to offer and in honesty not much, a small lounge area with a small bar but they did have a pool table...I didn't mind too much as I knew I would be out most of the day. I was told I be staying in a 6 bed room (mixed) which I was ok with as I wanted to meet people, I had to pay around 5 Euros for sheets and a towel as this is not included to my surprise. There was no locker but a secure cage under the bed and If I wanted to securely lock it I would had to pay a refundable 20 Euro deposit to get a padlock from reception. The room was ok, it was clean and had good lighting but space was limited. There was separate toilet and shower room which I felt was convenient and was kept in a good condition. During the night, I didn't really get the best of sleep as you can hear a lot of people talking and walking up and down the hall way. Also, it's a 24hr check in so therefore anyone could come stay in the room at anytime which sometime kept me restless. It's also worth mentioning, this hostel accommodates pretty much everyone, from couples, big groups, school trips and family which during my stay I saw plenty of. The hostel is in a good location, 10-20 mins walk and you will find yourself surrounded by restaurants, bars, shops and in the central part of Cologne. My overall thoughts of staying at a&o is, it's a good place, friendly staff and pretty much everything at your doorstep. Not the best of sleeps I've had and knowing anyone could come in at any time was not ideal. I didn't always feel that my personal stuff was safe and secured but that's just me and I was a bit let down with the lack of facilities the hostel had to offer. I defiantly would recommend staying there if you come in a group but if alone no more than one night. Would I stay there again or at any hostel for that matter...probably not! If you're a hotel person like me then I would suggest to keep it like that.
