If you’re visiting the Ticonderoga area and are looking for an alternative to sketchy-looking chain motels or even sketchier-looking motels, this is a nice alternative. The property is a large working farm about 15 minutes outside of Ticonderoga, which is in the process of being remodeled by the owners. It is obvious that the owners are putting a large amount of sweat equity into the location, and when finished, it will be fabulous. Even as a work in progress, the rooms are quaint, pretty, and nicely decorated. It’s also quiet—at night, the only noise is the sounds of the crickets chirping outside. Several people have mentioned the breakfasts, and they’re right—fresh eggs, fresh baked bread, quality bacon—truly excellent. You can also sit on the porch in the evening as you watch the sun set and pet the friendly farm dogs and cats. A few things to know: 1). It’s an old farmhouse, so the stairs to the rooms are steep—that might be an issue if you have mobility issues. 2. WiFi connections were very spotty; great if you want to decompress, but not if you need to get work done in the evening. 3. There are a variety of things you can add to your stay (prices on the website) such as afternoon tea, eggs for purchase, pony rides, etc. We didn’t do any of them, but we saw others doing so, and they looked fun. 4. Agin, it’s a working farm with a family living there. It isn’t a “lounge in bed until late in the morning” kind of place, and besides, you wouldn’t want to miss the breakfast!
