We stayed here as a home base when visiting Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks. The charming building was renovated beautifully in 2007. Our room was lovely with the high ceilings and very comfortable bed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating (we had trouble getting our tv to work), and the complimentary coffee and pastry were much appreciated (so many choices!). I highly recommend the Trinity Hotel for your stay in Carlsbad.

We stayed here for two nights as a family while we were visiting Carlsbad Caverns. The restaurant itself was excellent with incredibly friendly staff and really delish food, wine, and beer (we had two dinners and two breakfasts). The room itself was quite lovely with many historic details. Our only complaint is that the pull out sofa for our children was positioned in a way that it was very difficult to enter and exit the room when opened and the mattress and foam padding had seen much better days. Our young kids had no complaints but I doubt that would be the case for anyone older than 12. Overall I would highly recommend this unique stay and restaurant if you are heading to Carlsbad.

The atmosphere is more like a big room in an old house. We had calamari as an appetizer which was delicious. My first dish was pork chop with mashed potatoes. It was too salty to eat, so I had lobster ravioli instead. It was perfect! The server was sympathetic and helpful about sending back the over salty dish. My husband had the chicken parmigiana and it was great. At the end of the meal we weren’t charged for the pork dish OR the ravioli. She also gave us a free dessert to go. It was a fabulous piece of cake with berries! The ambience was interesting since the restaurant is part of the original bank building where Sheriff Pat Garret had his office in the 1800’s. We love the history of the old west, and if you do too, you will enjoy eating in this restaurant. On the way out, the manager/host told us a little history about the building and Sheriff Pat Garrett. We would absolutely go back!

What a neat hotel. Check in was a little troublesome as it told us if we were checking in on a Sunday the front desk wouldn’t be staffed and to use the back entrance. Tried to do this, but code in email didn’t work. Had to call the supplied numbers. They gave me a new code. But the key wasn’t on the table for our room. Had to go around and found the front desk staffed. Got checked in. Went to our room (206) and was pleasantly surprised. Huge, tall ceilings. Huge comfortable king size bed. In room jacuzzi tub. And a “safe room” with a tv and sofa sleeper. Our son thought it was cool that the safe doors were still on and the main door was in the room. The history was interesting and we tried to find out more information about the hotels history right away. The room was WARM. There were no a/c controls in room and the windows didn’t open. Found out the next morning that every 2 rooms are controlled by one thermostat. Our room didn’t have a control so it was hot. Free pastry and coffee for each guest in the morning in the downstairs restaurant. Had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant and free wine tasting. Sent us to our room with a free cheese treat as well. Very hospitable and friendly server in the restaurant. Highly recommend you eat at the restaurant.

Someone’s been sleeping in my bed… We arrived after 1:30 AM, exhausted from a long day of driving. We received a call from the owners, checking in on us, around 9 PM and let us know where to park when we arrived and how to get in. I really appreciated that. Upon arrival, my boys and I were charmed by the appearance, interior decor, and charm or the old building details. We were staying in the safe room and excited upon arrival. The safe room was so much fun to check out and really added a fun, historical aspect. As we got set up and ready to climb in bed, I pulled down the bedding and noticed the closest side was wrinkled. I pulled the bedding down even more and was disappointed to see that it had been slept in already; bed had been quickly made, but clearly slept in on one side. There was remainder body hair and also had dirt/crumbs at the foot of the bed. I immediately started trying to get ahold of the owner, knowing it was late, but figuring they would have someone available for their hotel guests. It rang, eventually getting to the voicemail and that being full. I continued calling, attempted 7 times, but after that, I decided to contact the Marriott, down the street, to see if they had any rooms available. My youngest was completely exhausted and just wanted to sleep, but none of us wanted to sleep in a used bed. Off to Marriott we went and now, checked in and happy to be in fresh, clean linens and beds. We were so excited and loved how charming it was, but the bedding is unacceptable and then, not being able to reach anyone in the middle of the night was hard. I get people are sleeping and it’s more of a boutique like hotel, but the bedding issue is absolutely disgusting and a no go. Not sure if this is a housekeeping issue and not a regular occurrence, but something needs to be addressed and rectified. I will be contacting them in the morning to reimburse our room. I don’t normally review places or things, due to being busy and not taking time, but I couldn’t sleep without leaving a review. I’m disappointed and disgusted at the lack of cleanliness with the bedding. The number one, most important piece, when staying in a hotel. This could’ve been great!

To be fair, I would place the Trinity between 3 and 4 stars if allowed. Carlsbad had mostly rundown-looking motels, and the Trinity Hotel definitely offered something more unique. The room was large with high ceilings. Bed was comfortable. But room was very loud and had not been cleaned well (visible dust on most surfaces). No soap in bathroom. Front desk was friendly but lacking in providing necessary information. No one told us about included breakfast at checkin (only pastry/coffee, not particularly good but serviceable).

We loved our stay here!! They have done an amazing job restoring this hotel. There are so many beautiful historic details that add that extra touch. We stayed in room 201 and it was perfectly wonderful and spacious. We had dinner and breakfast there and all of their food was delicious. And the owner and all of the staff that we met were so friendly, providing the best customer service. It was hard to leave!!

We stayed here for 2 nights in December in room 201. The room was spacious, with lots of windows and a huge tub. We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner both nights. We really enjoyed sitting at the bar tasting the wine (surprisingly good!) and having delicious Italian food. In a town full of chain hotels and restaurants, we felt lucky to find this place. It is in a cool, historic building. The rooms were probably the best in town, and the food was quite good. Plus the staff were all super nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel and restaurant.

Probably the best hotel in town. All other hotels are cookie cutter boxes. Trinity hotel is a historic building with a soul. Renovated rooms are excellent. We stayed in the last room available, room 202 facing the road. We initially worried about the road noise, but it was just fine. Slept like a baby. The bed was so comfortable. I liked the huge square footage and tall ceilings. The staff was amazing.
