Valentin Star Menorca - Adults Only

I would have given the hotel 5* with the exception of a few small issues, Others have described the hotel experience in detail so I wont. One issue for us was that you have to listen to the entertainment if you have a pool view room, there is no alternative. Our room was in a position which made it very loud every night. I also had the most uncomfortable bed I have had in any hotel recently and I really should have complained but learned to live with it. The other, and main issue for me, was that the sunbeds are awfully uncomfortable for someone with a bad back. The backs do not go vertical and are at such an angle I couldn't use them meaning we had to get up early every morning to get one of the Bali beds....slightly compromising the holiday relaxation vibe. Oh and the price of drinks and bottled wine at the hotel are very high compared to even the nicest bars and restaurants outside. Those issues apart, the breakfasts were superb, the cleanliness of the whole hotel and area was lovely and the food at dinner was pretty good most nights. The location was why we chose the hotel and it did not disappoint. Be aware that the bars and restaurants around the Marina start closing down around 10th October though so if we return we will possibly go a week or two earlier.

This was first time we had visited the hotel and we could honestly say we could not fault it. Location wise was was really good, right in the heart of the marina. We has ground floor room with direct pool Access. Lovely big pool and plenty of loungers. No need to rush and reserve loungers but they did remove towels if anyone put them out before 8.30am, but you always get a few people like that. The room was very clean and comfortable, perhaps bathroom could do with updating a bit! Liked the music in the bathroom too. Food wise, we were only bed and breakfeast but the choice was amazimg. Entertainment was really good and watched a few shows. The staff were so pleasant nothing too much trouble. The snack bar did great pizzas which we had a lot of the for a change there was a good local beer avaiable. Would highly recomemd to anyone. Nice mix of people and very relaxing.

Our very good friends have been visiting this Adult Only hotel for the past four years & have always spoken highly of it. This year we joined them on a 10 day half board stay & were absolutely delighted with the Valentin Star. Our poolside room was clean, comfortable & spacious & contained everything you would expect of a quality hotel. Complimentary bottled water, toiletries, air con, dressing gowns, slippers & such like. All the staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast & Dinner were unhurried & the selection of food was very broad. For the more energetic there was daily water fun & games and good entertainment in the evenings. A few minutes walk away you can find plenty of restaurants, bars, shops & there are regular bus services nearby that can take you across the island. The sheltered beach is a short walk & it's worth taking a snorkel and mask if you are going to take a dip. One caution , a bottle of mosquito spray is must. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Excellent and very helpful staff in all areas. Rooms cleaned frequently to a high standard. We stayed B&B and the food was great and plenty of choice. The pool was safe, with a shallow end to walk in. Plenty sunbeds in the sun or shade Lots of activities in and around the pool if you wanted. Nice pool bar in the shade for drinks or lunch. The hotel is perfectly placed for bars and restaurants around the marina. I would definitely recommend a stay in the Valentin.

Fabulous adults only hotel in a quiet part of Menorca, nice walks around the marina and easy walk to the beach. The hotel is very well maintained and spotlessly clean, staff helpful and friendly. We were in a ground floor room with a small patio right by the pool. The evening entertainment was first class, every night we saw a different act and they were all excellent. We went bed and breakfast, which suited us as lots of bars and restaurants in the vicinity. Breakfast was exceptional with lots of choice. I really can't fault this hotel.

Our first time to this hotel & resort which we chose for 2 main reasons - adults only & the excellent food reviews. Our initial impressions weren’t great. We knew the bedrooms were dated from previous reviews & we always go for more modern, boutique style hotels, but the rooms are really crying out for a refurb. The furniture is very drab & dated & the bed creaked every time you moved. The fridge was barely cool & needed updating. The bathroom was equally old fashioned with a loose toilet seat & a flush which kept flushing unless you fiddled with it. The dressing gowns were very worn & tatty & there were no tissues supplied which is standard in a 4 star hotel. The biggest surprise was the daily charge of €3 to use the room safe which was absolutely tiny & belonged in a museum. That was in addition to a €10 refundable deposit. We only ventured to the entertainment on our first evening - a Bruno Mars & Miley Cirus act which wasn’t great & definitely not worth the 3 mosquito bites I collected!! Yes, even in October. Our biggest complaint about the entertainment was the enormous TV in bar which was screening Rugby matches very loudly & could be heard at the other end of the hotel. This made the bar a no go area for us & was hardly conducive to a relaxing evening drink ! There were some definite highlights staying at this hotel. The bedrooms & bathrooms were very large & the WiFi was excellent. The restaurant food was very good - great quality with plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly & worked incredibly hard & everywhere was very clean. Would we return? Not unless the bedrooms are brought up to date but you get the impression that the current owners aren’t willing to make that investment. Shame.

Having missed out on our regular holidays to Menorca for three years, and not having stayed at this hotel since 2017, it was like coming back to a comfy old armchair - much of what we love about the Valentin hasn't changed a bit. Personally I am happy that they try to enforce the no reservations of sunbeds, gentlemen to wear long trousers at dinner, although perhaps I would say they are a bit over the top with the "don't take food out of the dining room" notices!! So without rambling on we had a great holiday, it was wonderful to be back, and I think of all the hotels we have stayed at in Menorca this is the one that comes out tops, and all being well a return is on the cards for 2024.

Great location beside the Marina. All staff were very friendly and professional. Excellent choice of food at both breakfast and dinner. Large poolside room with kettle and brews. Daily maid service. Even music in the bathroom. If I was forced to find a negative it would be the toilet paper was a little thin.🤣

Once again an excellent holiday. Thank you all the staff for making us so welcome and chefs for really good meals. Best holiday in years. Looking forward to next year and seeing you again. Keep up the good work.
