There were flies in the bathroom and the carpets were worn … But the service and the Manager Dev was very very rude - at breakfast I was told to use the same tea cup even though I was having a coffee and then a tea - on checkout he was very rude Good location and can be a brilliant place - but terrible - really disappointed

Pros. Fantastic staff. Check in, bar and table service in the restaurant was ace Food was fantastic. The best burger I've had in a long time. Location is good. 4 EV charging points but would be better if upgraded to tap and go. Cons. The rooms are so dated. Peeling paint. Tatty furniture and blinds. Apparently the hotel is under new ownership and is being renovated. So much potential. Gym and spa would be a welcome addition.

We stayed at the Hotel Wrexham last night as we were visiting a local attraction. The room we stayed in was a double and was quite basic. The hotel is going through a re-brand currently, and it seems a lot of the hotel has been updated (could even smell the new carpets in the hallways), but the rooms need to be done also. However, it was clean, and we had everything we needed (no toiletries). The room above (we were room 103) has very squeaky, loud floorboards, and you can hear every step taken. I feel this needed to be looked at. We ate in the restaurant and the food was lovely. We are both vegetarian, and there were a few options available. The desserts were delicious, and the serving staff very friendly and accommodating. I have to mention the manager, as I called the day before our stay to ask if he could put something in our room as a surprise for my husband as it was his birthday. I didn't know what they could offer, but he suggested a set of 4 bottles of beer as my husband enjoys trying new breweries, so I said yes. When we arrived, he had the bottles in an ice bucket and had put up birthday banners and confetti on the dressing table. I felt this was really lovely. To top it off, when we ordered dessert in the restaurant, they wrote Happy Birthday in chocolate sauce on his dessert plate, which was a surprise for me too. I felt he really tried hard to ensure we enjoyed the stay. The breakfast was nice, there was a cooked breakfast, toast, cereals, yoghurt, juices, pastries and hot drinks, however an option of a vegetarian sausage would have been nice too. Thank you for an overall great stay.

We were seated by the bar - too close to the bar and asked to be moved to a proper dining area. Food was terrible it was a birthday meal very disappointing- my son had a cheese burger and the cheese was dry it was slapped together no nice decoration. Service was slow and waitress wasn't dressed properly- she looked like she worked in a factory. The lettuce was dry not fresh no dressing. Prawn Cocktail was poor prawns were on the bottom and sauce was tipped on top of dry lettuce sauce not on prawns. Curry was tasteless like a ready meal which you could buy in a supermarket. Lasagne had not much sauce very dry. Not good value for money we paid 90 pounds and it appalling - very poor. It has put us off from going back.

During the morning after our stay, we witnessed who I assume is the manager (male) speak to 2 of his young colleagues in an impolite manner and demanding them to do tasks in the breakfast area in a very angry way in front of hotel guests, which comes across as extremely unprofessional and also demoralising for those members of staff. Other members of staff were lovely and were happy to help where needed.

Visited for a family meal on a Sunday. A few things on the menu were unavailable and we were offered alternatives. We opted for the Sunday carvery. Plates were small. Food was ok but nothing special. It was just about warm enough. It’s been a while since we’ve been here and honestly won’t go back. Personally would have a better Sunday dinner in a pub.

This is a solid hotel. The room was comfortable and clean and the bathroom was also clean. However, the shower screen needs replacing as there was a puddle on the bathroom floor after my shower. The staff were nice and helpful - no complaints there. The breakfast was ok, and in fairness, it only cost £10, but I was disappointed by my dinner the night before. I ordered a burger and it was clear that the patties were really cheap meat and weren't enjoyable at all. McDonalds would have been better. Overall, if I'm in the area again, I'll probably stay at this hotel again, but I didn't love it.
