Two stars because it is a nice hotel with comfortable beds. Thats about it. It is certainly not a five star hotel, which it purports to be. We arrived around 8pm and advised reception that we needed to leave for the airport at five am. At some point reception advises that the booking was for one person and they had to charge us for the second. I have never heard of this! So for the extra person for our 8 hour stay, they wanted €100! What the hell for? I looked on a booking sight and showed the receptionist that I could still book a room (which would come with a free bottle of wine) for two people for exactly what I paid. Receptionist kept saying that it would be more if i booked through the hotel. Lets follow the logic here. Why would i book directly through the hotel if the same room is less on a booking sight? The most irritating part is that she kept laughing inappropriately for some unknown reason. The male receptionist kept insisting that the € 100 was for the ”free” hot breakfast. We reminded him that we had to leave before breakfast was served. He assured us that there would be a cart full of food in the morning before we left. Long story short, that did not happen. There was a cart with coffee and a few pastries. But wait, there's more! The man at the reception in the morning told us that if we had asked, they would have made us breakfast. That would have been nice if it was ever suggested by reception at check in! A real five star hotel would have just taken the initiative to prepare the bagged breakfast for us given the conversation had the night before. I also enjoyed how the staff talked down to us insisting that a €100 per person euro fee is totally normal. Because I've never stayed in a hotel before! Thats sarcasm btw. Again, this certainly was not a five star experience. And just to compare apples to apples, we stayed at a four star hotel when we arrived in bologna 10 days earlier. It was 1/5 the cost, the staff much more accommodating and was just as comfortable and nice. So do yourself a favor and ignore the alleged five star rating and save your money and nerves by staying anywhere else.

The NH Bologna de la Gare hotel is in the heart of the city and only steps away from Bologna train station. Many of the city’s top attractions, such as the Piazza Maggiore, San Petronio, and Torri degli Asinelli, as well as the many delicious restaurants, trendy shops, and bars are easily accessible by foot. One of the city’s main business venues, the Bologna Fair Center, is only 3km away. You can easily reach the airport, which is 9km away. NH Bologna de la Gare has 156 cozy rooms. While they feature a traditional decor, each is equipped with modern comforts such as free Wi-Fi, a TV, and a mini-bar. For stunning views of Bologna, check in to one of our top floor suites. We serve a delicious daily breakfast that features a varied spread of options, including classic continental staples and local favorites such as Italian mortadella. The Amarcord Restaurant is a great place for lunch or dinner. The menu features both international dishes and local specialties, with a focus on delicacies from the Emilia Romagna region. There is a lobby bar, where you can taste local grappa or sip on your favorite cocktail. The hotel also has 7 meeting rooms for up 220 people.

Perfect stay, few steps away from the train station and the historical center, right in front of the Montagnola Park. The room was perfect, ready despite my early arrival. A huge thanks to Tommaso and the whole front desk team for the kindness and the professionality, you really made the difference! See you on my next visit!

The lobby and room was very nice as it’s newly renovated. Location was also great, just opposite the train station and about 20-30 minutes walk into the centre. Staff were all very nice and friendly. The only bad thing was the shower water pressure was too low and the hot water took quite long to come on. The room lighting can also be a bit dim. Breakfast isn’t great so I would recommend to eat outside if you can.

On our round trip through northern Italy, we stopped in Bologna from 24.7.-25.7.22. We had booked a Classic double room at UNAHotels Bologna Centro via an online platform. Likewise, we already know UNAHotels from previous stays in other cities. The hotel is located outside the old town. It's a comfortable 20-minute walk. Unfortunately, the check-in did not work smoothly. The room was not ready at 13.15. The reception could not even check us in. They could only do that when the room was ready. I have never experienced anything like this and it has never happened in any other UNA hotel. Fortunately, we were able to drop off the luggage. A garage is also an advantage in Bologna. The reservation worked without a problem here, cost 22 euros per night. The room was very good. Size, comfort and cleanliness were perfect. The bathroom is also good. Everything necessary is available. Modern furnishings. Our request for a room on the upper floors was met. Wifi is good. The breakfast has everything you could want. Despite the discrepancies at check in, we can recommend the UNAHotels Bologna Centro.

A very nice hotel with good amenities. Very friendly staff. The breakfast was decent. Bring a hairdryer as the hairdryer supplied is ok for short hair, but not great for long hair. There was only 2 plug sockets in the room and one in the bathroom. This makes charging modern day phones, watches and other equipment very difficult. Especially if one of the plugs is located behind a cupboard. The kettle was balanced on the air con unit which isn’t ideal. A shelf would be a good idea. There aren’t any draws to put away underwear or tee shirts so be prepared to live from your case, however there is a clothes rail. The beds are made everyday and fresh towels if required. We used the spa which was lovely, although the pool probably was a clean. We will definitely return as the location is excellent, about 8 minute walk to the station.

Everything but the internet was great. The internet on the 4th floor was extremely poor. The signal strength was good, but the bandwidth was very bad. I used my 4G in roaming to create a hotspot. All seven days. As long as you don't plan to stream movies on your computer or stay online, everything is excellent.

Consigliato.

Outstanding
GGuest UserThe Starhotel Excelsior is located directly across the street from the central train station, thus is very convenient for those arriving to Bologna by rail. It is also very easy to come in by car without having to battle the traffic of central Bologna and parking is very easy. The hotel is a 15 minute walk to the central square. The walk is pleasant day or night on streets lined with shops and restaurants. The area around central station is lively at any time and feels reasonably safe. The hotel itself is quite modern. Rooms are large and quiet despite its proximity to the bustle of the train station. The quality of the rooms and service is extremely good for the price.
Combo Hostel, Bologna Approx 15 min walk from train station. Utilitarian in a cool, funky way. VERY bright colours in the corridors. Very friendly helpful staff. Nice, reasonably priced bar with indoor and outdoor garden seating areas. Excellent breakfast. Rooms clean and spacious. Laundry with two washing machines, two dryers, two airers and iron/ironing board. Would definitely stay again
MMatt78This is a homestay, not a hotel. The reception was open from 9 to 19 in the same building and the staff was corteous and super professional. We got a lovely apartment with a huge fridge, kitchen, living areas, a single room, a master bedroom, and two bathrooms. The flat was reovated and all clean. Very satisfied. Ideal for extended staying and for a family with a tenage kid. The apartment was on three levels. Location outstanding, in the very heart of the city. Highly recommended.
AAquarius_the oneI have stayed in this hotel before, so I booked it again this time, but the experience was not as good as the last time!
The room was small and a bit crowded.
I stayed for two nights and when it was cleaned the next day, tea bags and toiletry bags were not added. Not friendly enough.
The location of the hotel is very good, just a few minutes' walk from the train station and within walking distance to the city center square. The people on the hotel are very friendly! However, the price of the hotel is not cheap, especially on weekends.
GGuest UserOn first approach, it was clear to see that this hotel is quite far out from the city centre however explains why the prices are a lot cheaper. My partner and I stayed here in July 2022 for 4 nights and I must admit, we loved the room and overall feel of the hotel. Rooms were very clean and beds were very comfortable. We slept amazingly!! If it was just based on rooms alone, we would give this hotel five stars. However… We booked this hotel mainly because it had a pool. When we asked about the pool, we were informed we needed to book a 1 hour slot if we wanted to use it during that day. This was due to covid measures which were still in place at the hotel. So we did. Booked a 1 hour slot for the pool the following evening. When we arrived at the pool on the lower level, we noticed that the changing rooms were locked and the showers were turned off…due to Covid. Now I would typically understand some reasoning for certain covid rules but this just seemed ridiculous. A couple who were using the pool in the hour slot before us informed us to use the small shower cubicle to get changed as this had a frosted glass door on it and is the only bit of privacy you get down there. So we did! We ended up booking the pool out another two times on our stay but as reception advised following our first pool visit, get changed in your rooms then head down to the pool (assuming you don’t need to get the key from reception to unlock the pool). Towels were provided by poolside although on the first day, there was only one towel left for the two of us. On my final visit to the pool on the morning before we left, I had to go to reception in my swimming trunks because the pool was locked. Something I felt uncomfortable doing in the first place but as there was no changing facilities and the towels were locked by poolside, I reluctantly went to reception where the man behind the desk got angry at me being there in my swimming trunks. Simple solution would be to open up the changing facilities down by poolside to prevent this but hey, that was too obvious. Upon pointing out the fact that the changing facilities in his hotel were locked because they won’t open them due to Covid (which he should have known), he eventually calmed down and mentioned he understood. On our visit we also used the electric bikes which were at reception for a full day at the cost of €25 per bike per day. The system is far to complicated for what it needs to be and should be made simpler by just having reception deal with the booking. Once eventually booked, we were given the keys to the 2 bike locks, helmets and some netting for our hair (another odd covid measure which doesn’t make much sense as you will sweat through the netting anyway). As I was away to take the bikes out, I noticed that all four tyres were flat. Surely this should be inspected by the staff before the bikes are taken out?! Unfortunately staff appeared clueless on what PSI the tires had to be at and as he pumped up the first
Cchiara maselliL’hotel è in centro e quindi in posizione estremamente strategica.
We selected this hotel based on the TA reviews. It does come at a price and you need to select your room carefully to fully enjoy your experience here. Here are our opinions on some of the essentials from any hotel. Location: - Everywhere in Bologna itself is within fairly easy touch of the airport with Hotel Touring being no exception. It’s a taxi ride away or a hop on the ‘Aerobus’ and then walking (more on that later). The hotel is tucked away in a side street just far enough away to be quiet but it’s only a 10-minute stroll into the central areas. Just down the road is a Coop minimart. We stayed in a ‘standard’ room and this will be the subject of this review. Quiet room: - Our standard room was quiet. Very quiet. It can also best be described as compact meaning that some items were stored on the floor. Our particular room also was also sadly lacking in daylight. Thankfully we were out a lot so it wasn’t too big an issue. There are slightly larger rooms available judging by pictures I saw within reviews but you will pay significantly more for these. Air-conditioning/Room temperature: - Yes but not required in November where it was often fairly cool/cold outside. There was a radiator in the bedroom with a responsive thermostatic valve to just keep the room at the correct temperature. There was also a heated towel rail in the bathroom which appeared to be always on but that was not set too high. Wi-Fi: - We had free included Wi-Fi. The password was supplied to us in the room. Annoyingly you had to keep re-connecting every time you came back to your room. The Wi-Fi signal was good. Comfortable bed / pillows. A simple yet very comfortable bed and pillows. We had some good sleeps here. Hairdryer: - Yes. On the wall in the shower room. No complaints from my wife so it must have been ok. Plastic Shower Cap: - Yes. One happy wife. Toiletries provided: - Small bottles of shampoo and a bar of soap. That was it. No shower gel supplied in the standard room. It may be different in the superior rooms. Shower: - Good plentiful hot water. Nothing special but did everything you could want from a shower. Ours had a curtain around it which was a bit of a faff and resulted in some water occasionally getting onto the floor. Safe: - Yes. Tea/Coffee making facilities: - None supplied in the standard room. Bring your own kettle. We asked at reception to loan a kettle but they could not do this for whatever reason. However, they were happy to supply hot water from reception which just meant you had to go get it yourself. Breakfasts: - Very nice breakfasts and much better than I have experienced in some other places in Italy. Coffee was from a machine and on my one experience it was a bit ropey tasting. However, I asked the attentive staff who were more than glad to knock up an expresso, a pot of hot water and some milk to make a delicious Americano. Really nice and a breakfast to look forward to. Eateries Nearby: - Nothing is too far away from Hotel
GGuest UserThe hotel had a lot of students who studies and spent their time. The room was very comfortable and clean. Everything was excellent. Totally recommend! You can spend time in to the facilities like gym, pool, ping pong and chill areas and you don’t get bored!
孙孙Hotel location is a bit biased, not on the main road, but the hotel environment is good, the facilities are very new, the room is normal size, breakfast is good, there are bars and restaurants around, cost-effective, if you do not care about the city distance or work around it is recommended.
SSeowHotel Maxim is about 10 minutes to the Bologna airport and about 15 minutes bus journey to city centre.Location very convenient, bus stop number 25 just in front of the hotel Will us direct to train station and city centre.room is small but comfort.Wi-Fi provided and is good connection.Loved the buffet breakfast, delicious and lots of dishes,Price is reasonable too. Will stay again if come to Bologna again
