Travel with a group of friends to Beppu but only 4 of us decided to stay at Amanek for 2 nights. This was the best decision ever as we were closed to the JR station, eateries, Tokiwa shopping mall, Donki and the beach were within walking distance. Only few staff could speak English. Those who speak Japanese only also try their best to serve the guest. I am impressed by how clean and new the whole hotel is. Best of all, I love the free flow of juices & beverages. You could also do take away in the UCC coffee disposible cup. Love the choice of either western or local breakfast with free flow of side dishes. I am surprised by how big the bedroom is and spacious bathroom. The gym equipment tho basic, are new & in good condition. The onsen is clean & modern & I love the warm rooftop pool with an awesome view! Amanek is thoughtful to provide guest with a basket to hold all your onsen needs. Upon check out, I was overcharged for my 2 days of breakfast. The staff was quick to rectify the problem & refunded me on the spot. Yes, would definitely stay in Amanek again in my next visit to Beppu! Thank you for the awesome stay!

The room was clean and comfortable with many storage areas, but for an elderly mother with poor knees, the following points were few 々 problems. In the hotel I used in the past, there were many places where the bus chair with high seats was installed. The Beppu Hotel I stayed at for the second time was very close to Kitahama and within 10 minutes of Beppu Station. There are also large supermarkets, bamboo tile hot springs and other facilities nearby. It is a relatively large old-fashioned hot spring hotel. The price is not expensive. The facilities are a bit old, but the service is very good. The front desk and hotel staff will smile and say hello every time. You will be very comfortable during your stay. In addition, if you need to take a bus to Jigoku Onsen or Yufuin, please note that the bus station number on Google Maps may be wrong, so be sure to confirm it at the station before getting on the bus.

This time I decided to stay at a slightly better hotel, so I used this one that opened last year and 4 people including 1 preschooler. I stayed in a triple room on the mountain side. I usually only stay in a room with a toilet and a bath immediately after entering, with two beds in the back, and a desk and a TV opposite (child talk). The two children were excited. There is a center partition on the road in front of the store, so the warehouse from the Beppu area will be a U-turn from where I went for a while. I checked in at 15:00, but I was distributing hell steaming and plum sake next to the front desk and had it immediately. It was delicious. Immediately after that, take a bath. Around the lobby on the 1st floor, there is a drink bar in the evening bathing space, and there is a coffee machine in the playroom, which is generous. There is also hell steaming, where you can enjoy plum wine or shochu, so even those who do not eat can enjoy it. Still, I think that eating can enjoy this place. Also, if you stay at peak time, you may be vacant and satisfied if you take early action (evening bath, morning bath, breakfast). I stayed with a lot of children. This time I stayed in combination with Harmony Land (if you go the next day, turn left and turn U). There are many rooms as it is, so it may not be suitable for those who want the quietness of adults. It may be good for a lively but OK group, a group that likes alcohol.

Because it was located in a quiet place, I felt a quiet rural atmosphere. It may feel far away because it is located at the end of an uphill road from the station, but it is located right in front of Kinrinko Lake, a famous spot in Yufuin. He even helped me bring my luggage to the room. I was impressed from the beginning thanks to the comfortable and considerate service. However, we wanted to reserve a place with a private bath on the first floor. They said it was already full..! Oh my gosh,, An open-air bath that can be reserved for 1 hour and used privately. I made a reservation at night and used it, so there was actually no inconvenience! Also, we all go to the shared public bath early in the morning. Since it was just my family, it was also unintentionally private. As expected from Yufuin, the hot spring water was very good and neat and clean. Even when checking out, the owner greeted me kindly. Even if Jim Carrey is carried to the first floor just like the first time... I'm really touched in many ways,,,🥹 There are many ryokans in Yufuin, but this is a really great ryokan for the price. Next time I visit again, I want to experience the first floor as well. I'm planning to re-book ㅜㅠㅠ It was such a friendly experience,, And there is a soba restaurant with the same name right next to the bathhouse. It looks like they only sell lunch, but this place is also really good and there is a long wait, which is a shame since it is located right next door. 🤭

We booked 2x Japanese rooms for 3 nights, over the rugby period. Obviously all hotels were charging a premium, but having booked 12 months in advance, at a cost of virtually £2,000 (excluding breakfast and dinner), I expected the hotel to be pretty good. The staff were very pleasant, but the communication was a problem - appreciate that this is our fault as much as theirs! The rooms were very shabby in our opinion, the furniture was badly marked and it didn't seem very clean. The worst problem was the smell in one of the rooms though, the staff told us it was from the tatami matting, but it clearly wasn't, as the other room had the same floorcovering and didn't smell. We ended up thinking it was the drains - but it was very unpleasant. The bathroom was pretty basic, and not well maintained - dirty grout around the tub etc. We stayed at 5 other hotels in Japan, and generally the standard was as expected - this was the only disappointment when considering cost vs. quality. The futons were more comfortable that I had expected - I slept really well.
