Amazing décor, quaint en-suite double bedroom, comfy and warm in Winter. Owners Rick & Sue fantastic hosts and constantly present. Lamb cutlets the best ever - Cuisine varied and every dish tasty . Cocktails in bar with world famous pianist(Richard Wilson) playing any and every request with aplomb. Dedicated staff with Candice phoning me minutes after our departure to say I'd left my gown and a bag behind. Attended an exceptional writing retreat at Karoo Art Hotel which was beautifully backed by hotel's attentive staff. Well worth the trip there.

We had a delightful dining experience at The Karoo Art Hotel in Barrydale. The ambience was beautifully set with a cozy and artistic vibe that added to the overall enjoyment of our evening. Reservations are essential to secure a spot, so be sure to book in advance. My husband and I savored the must-have Karoo lamb curry dish, accompanied by sambals and extra chili for those who enjoy a bit of heat. The lamb was succulent and flavorful, making it a memorable meal. The service was excellent, and the staff ensured we had a pleasant dining experience. Attached are some photos capturing the elegant dining area and the delicious lamb curry dish we enjoyed.

We absolutely loved this charming old hotel that has been beautifully refurbished by owners, Rick and Sue. We stayed 3 nights and were glad to have had this time to visit Barrydale Hand Weavers for a tour and shopping, Joubert Tradauw for wine tasting and platter lunch, Metanoia Distillery for tour and tasting, and the Warm Baths. There is also great hiking in the region. We did a short, easy morning hike and swim in the rock pools. We had most of our meals at the hotel which has excellent food from Chef Derek and an excellent menu. I loved the Chef’s Vegetarian breakfast and the Lentil Bobotie. I am looking forward to my next visit to this beautiful hotel and town.

We stayed at the Karoo Art Hotel as part of a trip through the Karoo while visiting my sister in South Africa. The owners, Rick and Sue, treated us royally, ensuring our three-night stay would be a memorable one. They are passionate about the area and ensuring their guests experience it to its full potential. Their staff are equally attentive. An all-round amazing experience. We’ll be back!

We went out of season, so there were not many people around; I think that if there had been more people there, it would have produced a better 'buzz'. But that is not the fault of the hotel, who did everything you can expect of them. The menu, though, was a bit limited, but perhaps in high season that would change. It is a magnificent venue.

What a fantastic hotel to take over by a gang of us for a splendid festive weekend celebrating a birthday. Laced with colourful, creative our- there activities - wild river swimming, a cool hall to dance the night away, elegant, sumptuous communal meals and a wonderful activity involving the local second hand bookshop. Each room unique with its own flavour and artwork, it’s the perfect gathering place for friends to escape together and share a unique experience. A perfect venue for a ‘hotel takeover’.

Hats off to the Karoo Art Hotel for providing the canvass for a truly memorable weekend of celebration. To have been able to book out the hotel in celebration of family, fun and family meant those that close to you were able to share so intimately in the festivities! Dinner on Friday, Birridale swim, Bubbles and Books, Harvest Table on Saturdat, Klein Karoo Klassics in the Belanti ... a wonderful celebration of the Art of Life!
