The location in IJburg is not, of course, the city centre. With the train 26, the Central Station is well reachable in about 20 minutes. A supermarket is located between the end station (there is also a ticket machine) and the hotel. Availability with the PPNV is a train or car arrival that you can leave in the parking house (there are cheaper parking places than in the hotel itself). Breakfast is very good. We can also express wishes that are then freshly prepared (e.g. mirror, omelet). Heat drinks are available by self-service from the full-automat. There is also a delicious hot chocolate here. The room looks a little unfinished. Gray walls without color. There is no closet, but only a cord with clothing bar. A small treasury, a TV with, among others, German broadcasters (ARD, ZDF, RTL) there is also. The bathroom separates a milk glass slide door, but it leaves a gap open that should be taken into account when you do not pin the room alone. The bathroom is wet when you do it, because the shower is only half closed and there is no door. The hotel is recommended if you can make a little bit at the price, 200 euros per night would be too much.

Not quite sure why there are so many negative reviews calling this place unacceptable, for the price you pay you’re definitely getting your moneys worth and some. The male young receptionist was friendly at check in and guided us to our room (although he didn’t know some answers about basic questions about the area, such as he incorrectly told us the wrong time for the last trams, he was very kind but maybe the staff could be told some answers to the most common questions). The junior suite was extremely spacious, had a lovely bathroom, lots of mirrors which was nice, large bed and lots of light windows overlooking the dock. The room was fab, however like some other reviews state sometimes there was a mysterious odour, particularly on the last day, but it wasn’t unbearable. Could definitely do with some harder mattresses which would definitely improve everyone’s experience but I still slept perfectly. Location is perfect for the price, only a 14min tram away from Amsterdam Centraal. The coffee pods and machine in the room were nice but could also put some biscuits there too which would be amazing. Maybe needs a repaint of the room but it’s safe to say i’d definitely stay again

A nice holiday house, but no staff at night.

We chose to stay in Edam because it was central to all of the towns we wanted to visit in the Netherlands. We wanted somewhere charming, quiet, and less overwhelming than Amsterdam. This hotel gave us exactly what we wanted. Edam has a very peaceful vibe and so does this hotel. We stayed in a Junior Suite on the ground floor that was right on the canal. It felt very private and had a great view. The room was clean and decorated very uniquely with lots of colors. I really appreciated this! The free breakfast was in their lovely dining room. The croissants were especially good! We told them we needed parking in advance of our stay, and we were given a parking pass for a nearby parking lot. Which was free for us and worked out perfectly. This hotel is also very close to the bus station. It was a very easy 5-10 minute walk there so we could take a bus to Amsterdam for the day. We highly recommend this hotel and town!

I had to say for a month stay at the Yays Docklands in March 2024. There were some positives and not so positives about my stay, so let's get started: Positives Apartments are spacious (I stayed in a 2 bedroom one), you'll find kitchen utensils, microwave, fridge, coffee maker (Nespresso) so this will help save on restaurant bills. Rooms are comfy enough with a full bathroom and you'll find shampoo and shower gel upon arrival so no need to bring along unless your skin type requires a specific one. I found the shower temperature to be fine yet it would suddenly get slightly colder during the course of a shower for no particular reason. Wifi does work (my Zoom calls went uninterrupted except for a day where wifi did not work for over 24 hours, no apologies nor previous advice from Yays), you can connect your phone to the TV, which you'll find one wall-mounted one in the main bedroom in addition to the living room. Yays is mostly used by tourists or, as me, people staying for weeks at a time, so it's very quiet during the day, I worked from the apartment a few days and I was perfectly able to enjoy the silence. There's a nearby street (Borneostraat) which is multiethnic and where you'll find great Turkish coffee, authentic baklava and many interesting restaurants. I encourage you to explore this street. Not so positives Location is a bit removed from downtown, however that's a matter of perspective. You can get to Central Amsterdam in about 15 to 20 minutes so it all depends on your particular preference. You can go there by tram, bus or even train (this one I'd discourage as it takes some walking or bus/tram). If you need some grocery shopping done, your closest supermarket is about 1 km away so be prepared to walk and carry your groceries with you. Staff at Yays is not responsive, cleaning arrangements are modified which is rather inconvenient and the cleaning crew don't bother to check if you're running low on gel or shampoo. All in all, I think the positives outweigh the not so positives, mostly if you're only staying for a few days as you'll most surely spend most of the time exploring Amsterdam and surrouding areas. Would I stay at the Yays again?: if I can find a better located alternative then no, I would not just for the convenience factor. Tip: Ask for a room located on a high floor, views will be better and you'll be more removed from the street noise (nothing to be concerned about, just one club located next to the Yays which operates Friday and Saturday evenings but the noise coming from it is very light). Stayed at the amazing Via Amsterdam recently. First impressions were great a lady helped us massively before arrival answering all our queries in reservations and was very helpful with tips of places to visit and getting tickets etc even very helpful travel tips from the airport. We came to check in and loved the place it’s about a 10 minute walk from the local station could be done quicker once you know the route. The whole reception lay out is huge, lots of seating, games area, even it’s own cinema area. We had a very nice gentleman on check in called Bart who was lovely, he helped us with directions, booking breakfast and dining tips. We dined in the Bar called the dude and had a couple of drinks. Bar is quite expensive but nice vibe only fault we found was a very limited restaurant menu choice, we did eat the burgers (no other choice) and they are recommended but you don’t want to eat the same thing every night. Rooms are spacious but quite sparse could do with a table and a couple of chairs to be fair so you can sit and chat. Very clean and comfy beds. Showers only and a bit small but offer free shampoo and shower gel, no towels so bring your own. Breakfast was a bit of a poor show and could do with improvements. For the amount you pay it’s not worth it. You could go into Amsterdam and buy something better for cheaper. We had seen online people complaining about not being central but honestly it’s no issue there is a metro within walking distance and takes you directly into Amsterdam central in about 15 minutes and run regularly. Overall had an fantastic stay and would highly recommend to anyone. You cannot fault the place. I did have a nightmare after checkout tho and was my only complaint as I was overcharged and tried for nearly a month to get a refund from the manager jonannes who wouldn’t speak to me because apparently he was too busy (not the best customer service from a manager) I tried calling and emailing but he just wouldn’t reply or sort the problem and other poor staff tried to make excuses for it not being sorted sooner, it was eventually sorted by someone else but after such a good stay it did leave me feeling slightly disappointed. Hopefully he has improved his customer service by now as this does not reflect on how good this place actually is.

I travel for work and frequent hotels on a weekly basis for the last 16 years, usually Hampton inns or holiday inns. I have never had a breakfast remotely as good as what this hotel serves! There was such a variety of different foods, and we would get a great start to our day with a full belly! Was nice as we could skip lunch as prices were so high at the restaurants. Room was nice and otherwise typical of a Hampton Inn.
