This business needs a huge overhaul. It is unacceptable to rob guests with such terrible accommodation. I had booked 10 days in this place. Upon my arrival after a long trip with my heavy backpack, the receptionist ignored me as I waited for her to greet me. What a greeting! 'You will need to bring your rubbish in the bin before you leave; you will be given fresh linen in four days; you need to sign in to the internet every time you use it; you will need to do the dishes before you leave' etc...No welcome words, only orders. I felt I was signing in to jail! I have been in hostels in the past, am well travelled and I manage my expectations, but this was far worse than any hostel, airbnb, hotel, or residence I have ever been to. Upon entering my studio - I would not call it an apartment, I found the shower head dirty, the wastebasket dirty, the walls bare of any decor except for a cheap frame. There was only ONE plastic hanger in the closet, with all the others broken. In the kitchen, there was a 2oz bottle of washing detergent and not much at all, not even a coffee maker, just a kettle. There was only one roll of toilet paper for my 10 day stay. No one was ever at the reception except early in the mornings. You could not reach anyone in the afternoon or evening. When I ran out of toilet paper, I asked on my way out to have a few rolls dropped in my room. Upon my return that night, nothing. Luckily I met some guests who were sitting outside (equally unhappy with the residence), who saved me and were most kind, bringing me a roll. When the next morning I asked for toilet paper again, after having left a note at the unstaffed reception desk, I was finally given some. But fresh towels after 4 days? The response was ”well, I don't know, I have to ask my colleague...” I could not believe the staff's attitude. I was happily able to find a place 8 days later and could not leave soon enough. (Unfortunately, in high season and at the last minute, accommodations are nearly impossible to find in Aix.)

We stayed for three nights. Overall, we don’t feel that Le Pigonnet should currently be open. It is our impression that the staff agree. The hotel is currently communicating to guests that the late arrival of building materials accounts for the extent of current building works. We find this hard to believe- months after re-opening, the ongoing works are very extensive. The hotel seems many many months away from finishing building works as of July 2024. Esprit de France is a large hospitality company, and this hotel is one of their flagship properties. We feel they are showing disregard for their guests (and employees) by remaining open. We feel this decision was likely made by a corporate entity with little empathy for the guests, or employees. I want to paint a picture of the state of the hotel: - The main hotel building and restaurant are empty shells- there is literally no floor, plumbing, or electricity. There are no windows or doors (though these were being installed in front of breakfasting guests during our stay) - There is nowhere indoors for breakfast. When we enquired where breakfast would be moved if it rained during service (and it did, though only lightly), we were met with a shrug. We imagine it is the same for lunch and dinner. - There are no indoor spaces/lounges/bar areas for anyone arriving early prior to check-in or for someone who simply wants to sit - The hotel “office/reception” has a single toilet and vanity for staff and guests - To hide the building works the hotel has invested in what would be tens of thousands of dollars of potted plants. They are still in plastic tubs, and blow over in inclement weather (literally onto guests during our first breakfast). Some have died and not been moved. - During outdoor breakfast service, there were multiple tradespeople visible literally feet from guests. There was drilling and hammering. This was on a Saturday and Sunday (after being told no building works would take place on the weekend). Breakfast was (in spite of earnest staff) such a comedy that we were entertained. - Guest Wifi regularly drops out entirely (why renovation would effect this is a mystery) We were initially accommodated in a room in a separate villa from the main hotel. This was thehe worst rooms we have ever stayed in (arriving at 1am we felt unable to complain to the pleasant night porter). We could hear when the person staying in the room above us was going to the toilet. This was not only because every shoeless footstep was clearly audible, but also because the unclad drainage pipe ran straight through our dressing room. Every drop of liquid from the room above could be heard tinkling through the pipes. The floor was so dusty that our feet were brown from stepping to the toilet. The bath and shower area stank (and there was no toilet in this space). This space, which does not seem to be under renovation (comical really given the rest of the property is) should be closed. Thank goodness the hotel

It is not a hotel but an aparthotel-type residence and there was no room cleaning service. When I went to ask they told me that cleaning was only done every 4 days and since we were 3, no one did the room or the bathroom during our stay. They offered me cleaning products so I could clean it myself. I was stunned. They didn't even have a bottle of cold water and it was very hot. The receptionists are very unprofessional. The breakfast was very complete but there was no toaster. I do not recommend at all. And they say they have 4 stars.

We have spent one night in this hotel a few kilometers from the center of Aix en Provence. The check in was quick and smooth and our room spacious and fairly clean. It was a pleasure to enjoy the swimming pool on a hot day like the one we had. It was a good stay and very good value for money considering the high prices in high season.

The hotel itself was ok. And the breakfast spread was quite nice. But a couple of problems: when we got to the room there was no toilet paper (or facial tissues). We picked some TP up from the front desk. Then when we went out, we put the “do not disturb” sign out. They came in anyway and remade the bed, but still didn’t bring any facial tissues. But the worst thing is we scheduled a shuttle to the nearby Vitrolles train station for 8:40. The train on Sat comes once an hour, so should have been plenty of time to catch the 9am train. Well the shuttle didn’t show up until about 8:54, and we missed the train. Tue annoying thing is I asked the front desk lady when the shuttle would arrive and she told me two minutes. If it had really been two minutes we would have made it. Or if she told me it would be late we could have walked (it’s like a 10- minute walk). Instead I’m sitting here waiting for an hour for the next train, so I figured I would write a review with all this extra time…

Excellent
Just a short 12 minute walk into town. Extremely safe. Hotel offers continental breakfast for an extra charge. I did pass because there are so many cafes to people watch while enjoying your meal or cappuccino. Rooms, although small, are very clean, hot shower and comfortable bed and pillows. Staff is so nice and friendly as well as the people of Aix-De-Provance. Weather was perfect in September, 65-75 degrees daily. Most importantly, the big crowds left and no lines. Food is more than Fabulous. Will return. :)
GGuest User4-night stay Upside: (1) Space - limited-service apartment concept. Separate bedroom, bathroom, toilet, kitchenette, living room & balcony (within dining table) (2) Location - nearby supermarket & gym (not affiliated with Adagio); walking distance to the old town (3) Laundry room - located near reception; takes credit card payments; but there's only 1 washer and 1 dryer, so plan ahead (4) Quiet - inward facing apartments don't get street noise and face a pleasant internal courtyard Downside: (1) Air-conditioning issue - apparently, there was an ongoing air-conditioning fault affecting some apartments, including the first apartment we were assigned at check-in. Also, apparently, guests were supposed to have been informed about this, but we weren't. None of the correspondence we received prior to check-in mentioned it, neither did anyone mention it at check-in. Initial response when we queried why the apartment wasn't getting cool was the offer of a standing fan. This was completely unacceptable given the high summer temperatures (>30C) in a west-facing (afternoon sun) apartment. It would have been too uncomfortable to sleep, even with a standing fan. Not to mention the lack of transparency. After further enquiries, including regarding repair timing (several days!), suddenly another apartment, with functioning air-conditioning, became available. As Adagio is part of a major international hotel brand, issue could've been better handled by offering affected guests, whether in advance or at check-in, the option of (a) transfer to a similar-class property (in-network or otherwise) at no cost; (b) full refund; or (c) fully-transparent ”informed” acceptance of apartment with faulty air-conditioning.
GGuest UserPros: Friendly staff, comfortable bed, great shower, good breakfast, secure parking, short walk from many of the most important points of interest in town. Cons: Unsecured internet, no USB plugs in room. Suggestion: try and book a room overlooking the central courtyard/pool area. Probabaly quieter than those on the outside of the building facing roads.
MMaoxiaomi2020The hotel is good, the cost of Ctrip is too high, the domestic departure time set more than 2100 hotels, to the hotel will become more than 1800. The difference between the hotel in Geneva has reached more than 400 RMB. It is recommended that you can cancel it. Go to the hotel in advance and buy it at the front desk after refunding.
Really enjoyed our 3 night stay here. We had a room opening onto the lovely garden with our own terrace space. The room was spacious and stylishly decorated. An interesting broken plan layout which worked well The bed was very comfortable and there was a large shower with monsoon head with plenty of hot water. Mini fridge in the room was a nice touch The whole place had a considered, design conscious boutique feel to it - the staff were also really friendly and helpful. Short stroll to the old town so nice to pop back and enjoy the peace and quiet of the garden sometimes. We sorted our own breakfast as there's a good bakery nearby and it was nice to choose things and eat outside our room. Wish there were more hotels like this at this price point.
JJINGThe hotel is very good and I like it very much. There is a swimming pool, breakfast outdoors and sunny, good meals, large and comfortable rooms, and free parking. There is a young lady at the front desk who can speak a little Chinese and is very enthusiastic.

GGuest UserOld hotel to be renovated quickly, used moquettes, defect lighting, narrow beds, changed litter, ......, but good location and well suited parking. No call, long waiting time, waiting s1ns din and even forgotten, re-recalling obligation, ..... Finally, too many points to re-review for a 4-star that doesn't honour the Accor/Novotel group. We'll be looking elsewhere at the next passage to Aix.
