Visited last night for "Fondue Evening" A very enjoyable experience!! enhanced by the lovely lady who served us. Cheese Fondue was delicious as was the Tarte Tatin. As usual, a high quality experience from The Angel. The Christmas decorations are very elegant.

The hotel is lovely but what makes it special is the care and attention the staff show the customers. We had parked in the hotel car park and were unsure where to go, a gentleman appeared and showed us to the reception saying he had only worked in the hotel for 2 days, he was friendly and helpful. All the staff go beyond to make your stay enjoyable. Our evening meal and breakfast were extremely good. Our hotel room was upgraded, it was clean and very comfortable, well appointed and some nice homemade treats. We will definitely return.

An enjoyable stay in a very pleasant hotel, with great service and professional staff. The place is furnished and decorated to a high standard and has a good atmosphere and ambience. Our room was excellent and while we did not have an evening meal, the breakfast was really first class.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner last week. £20 for two courses of fantastic food has to be some of the best value in the UK. Service was spot on, lovely dining room, wish I'd had time to hang out in the bar. Also wish we lived nearer so could visit regularly.

Visited the Angel Hotel for afternoon tea with my best friend. She had been before but first time for myself . From the moment we walked through the door you feel welcomed from the lovely lady on reception to staff waiting the bar We were greeted by Nick who took us into a beautiful room with a roaring fire Tables were laid out beautifully Nick chatted asked if we had been before thanked my friend for returning and explained he hoped I would enjoy but if we didn’t then to please let him know You get to choose from a huge selection of hot beverages can add on fizz or other alcohol should you wish The food was beautifully presented it’s clear the chef loves their job and takes pride in their craft Unlike most afternoon tea there was a selection of warm savouries as well as a selection of sandwiches and cake The lovely young lady told us what each item was and ensured we had enough tea to accompany the food The selection is amazing and it tastes as good as it looks This was a birthday treat for me with my wonderful friend and did not disappoint We have had afternoon tea but this was the best by far Nick asked if it was a special occasion and when I said it was my birthday he produced a cake on a plate with Happy Birthday written in chocolate The service was first class attentive without being intrusive If you are looking for a first class afternoon tea then this is the place to go Would highly recommend

An afternoon tea gift from the family was an excellent idea! We visited on Thursday 7th November. The staff were most welcoming and helpful. The setting was delightful in a busy dining area where a number of other guests were enjoying their afternoon tea also. The options for the tea were extensive and the staff explained all the possible combinations. The flavours and choices were very good with top ups of drinks provided. Needless to say we didn’t manage to eat all of the items and so staff readily boxed up the remains in nicely prepared boxes. The parking was possibly an issue but using the nearby council car park it cost £2 for 2 hours. You could possibly park in a near by supermarket with free parking for 90 minutes. The hotel does have its own car park to the rear but we didn’t bother asking about using that. Overall this was a super experience compared to lots of similar occasions we have taken afternoon tea.The family run hotel has recently been taken over by a corporate brand so I’m not sure if the same attention to detail will prevail.

Called in for breakfast, which was lovely. Hubby had eggs benedictine. The eggs were perfectly cooked. I had the veggie option which was lovely. Clean cutlery, lovely staff, wonderful atmosphere beautiful log fire burning. Pot of tea made 5 cups well worth the money. Would definitely recommend and definitely go again.

Our room was very spacious, with beautiful period furniture and decor. The bed was very comfortable, and the tea tray included a good variety coupled with delicious house made biscuits. Our room was out the back of the main hotel in an adjacent building. It was very quiet, definitely recommend. Not too far from the train station, and just outside the main town. Also right across from the angel bakery - which is also a must visit.
