Reviews from Real Guests:

Sabhy: Amazing place and full with historical facts. We were staying in Yanta district of Xi’an and we book DiDi taxi for our travel to Qinshihuang museum. It took about an hour to reach at the museum site and we paid about 130 yuan. Due to current epidemic situation there is health code verification and foreigners need to fill up some informations at the desk while you enter. Ticket is 120 Yuan cash. Then we follow the map towards the main site of the museum. There are 3 pits with terracotta warriors in the site. We went to the museum with two chariots first. Then we went to pits 2, and 3 and then to 1, the largest one with thousands of warriors. It’s an amazing experience inside the museum. Note that there is no restaurant inside the museum. But there are quite a lot auto vending machines with snacks and drinks. Once you exit the museum, you end up with souvenir shops and lot of food stalls etc but those are all outside the museum site at the exit side. If you bargain when you buy souvenirs, price could reduce by factor 2 to 3. Think before you pay. Food stalls covers many local cuisines and around China and also western foods. After that we went to the car parking cite book DiDi and went back to our hotel.

Tella: Foreigners, for your information: There is a QR code to scan and buy tickets online. We asked at our hotel for help booking but it is relatively easy, just with your passport as ID you will receive a text message with a link the link shows your ticket information and a button for each ticket that pops up a QR code. this is the only thing you need to enter, no paper ticket is then needed. you just scan the QR code at the entrance turnstiles. tickets are sold in 2 hour sections starting from 8:30am we went at 8:30 to 10:30 as a foreigner they will require you to show them your passport at some point during the entry but it takes 2 minutes. although there were still a lot of people at 8:30 it was not crazy busy and we could see the pits easily. we started with pit 2,3 then 1 as suggested. at one stage we were the only people in pit 2 (besides security) and it was extremely peaceful.

Day 1 | Afternoon

Xi'an City Wall is a landmark of this ancient city. The city walls that we see now were built in the early years of the Ming dynasty and they are now more than 600 years old. The walls were built on the foundations of the imperial city of the Tang Dynasty and they are formed together with a series of defensive installments such as moats and turrets. At present, Xi’an City Wall can be accessed by many city gates. Visitors can choose the nearest one to them. The South Gate is the visitor entrance of Xi’an City and is also the city gate with more tourists. Cycling on the ancient walls is a good experience. Riding on the wall overlooking the ancient capital of the thirteenth dynasty, you will have a feeling of travelling through time.

Now we see the wall, built in the early Ming Dynasty, now more than 600 years old, it is built on the foundation of the Tang Dynasty Imperial City, including a series of facilities such as moat, turret. Biking on the ancient wall is a good experience. Riding on the walls of the city overlooking the 13th Dynasty, you will have a feeling of time travel.

Stevebeck: I walked all the way around the Xi'An city walls. It's certainly a long walk, but away from the most touristy sections it's quite a peaceful walk. If you haven't got 4-5 hours a bike is a good choice to make a circumnavigation. Rent a cycle (mountain bike or tandem) at various points and drop it off at any other station. There are a few crowded spots where bikes aren't allowed but you can drop one off on side and pick up another the same on the other side.

It is the highlight of the museum. In the Beilin Museum, you can admire inscriptions and epitaphs of different dynasties. The collection of inscriptions and epitaphs spans over 2,000 years.

Reviews from Real Guests:

Becky: Beilin Museum is easy to find - just follow the City Wall east on foot from Yongningmen Gate and you’ll get there. It’s ¥65 entry at the time of writing and if you can read Chinese characters it’s worth every penny! I cannot... but I still found it worth the visit. Also called the Stone Forest Museum, it houses a massive collection of calligraphy written on stone tablets, dating from the Tang Dynasty (and even earlier) right up to the more recent centuries! The calligraphy is beautiful and easily appreciable even if you can’t read it 😁 Moreover, there’s an exhibition hall that showcases beautiful statues and tombs that date back through the dynasties and I honestly found them beautiful and amazingly interesting. The museum store is also a great place to purchase unique gifts (or treat yourself!) with calligraphy items that I haven’t seen elsewhere in Xi’an. Beilin Museum in Xi’an is definitely worth visiting!

MaxS: Very impressive. There are many rare found artifacts depicted cultural heritage of passed epochs. The stellas impressed me a lot. I always remember my visiting this interesting and unusual museum.

Now, you can visit the royal pools of Tang Xuanzong and Yang Guifei, named Lotus Pool and Haitang Pool respectively. In 1936, the Xi'an Incident took place and changed China's destiny. In the southern part of the scenic spot, the “five halls” of Chiang Kai-shek’s old residential site were preserved intact, and the bullet marks of the fierce battle are still left on the walls.

Reviews from Real Guests:

MaxS: Pretty interesting location to spend time. What's there? Well, this place was an emperor summer residence. It is famous due to the unhappy love story happened there. Further, there was an HQ of rebels during earlier 20th century... Now it's the beautiful park with spa and spring water, a mountain and a temple at the top of mountain, and the stage for incredible performance show as well. pretty interesting

Today, the remaining park is divided into two parts: a free zone and a toll zone. The toll zone comprises the core area of the scenic spots, including the remains of the Hanyuan Hall and Xuanzheng Hall as well as the Daming Palace Relics Museum.

Reviews from Real Guests:

Allen: Although the palace is in ruins, it was still impressive and a very calming place. a huge park with few visitors and the tickets during off season were cheaper in the park. Despite only the foundation of the palace buildings remaining, I will felt a sense of wonder walking and standing where the empress once was.

Reviews from Real Guests:

K-TravelMuse: Strolling into the park, the first thing that catches your eyes is a group of wooden sculptures facing the gate. They have been made to resemble lifelike and dainty human beings, eagles, black bears, monkeys and other creatures, and tell different stories about 'man and animals' and 'man and nature'. And looking at these beautiful and unforgettable sculptures, you would hardly guess that they've been made from petrified wood. It is the wonderful skills of the gardeners that endow these deadwoods with life again.

Yulia Hasto: The appearance is very attractive, but it is a little expensive. I spent a lot of money without unnecessary money. Some people do not need to rent a car for 150 people. There are also amusement parks, which are charged separately. If you want to play well, you don't have 1,000. Not coming

Yulia Hasto: Perhaps it's a tourist trap but it would be a pretty well done tourist trap. It does a pretty good job of recreating ancient historical sites and the entire place lights up at night with absolutely beautiful lights. It's a 5A tourist attraction in china which means china regards this as one of the highest graded attractions in the country. Someone of something clearly spent a lot of money to make this a worthy place to visit.

Located in central China and at 400 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level, Xi'an is known for its cold, dry winters and hot, humid summers. There are four distinct seasons, with the coldest months being December and January (average high temperature: 5 °C / 41 °F) and the hottest months are June and July (average high temperature: 32 °C / 90 °F). There is a rainy season with frequent showers from July to September. The most pleasant seasons are Spring (March to May) and Fall (mid-September to early November). The cool breezes, mild temperature, and sunny days are most suitable for outdoor activities. As many people only visit Xi’an to see the Terracotta Army, it is worth noting the best time to view the site, not in terms of weather (indoor venues) but more for the crowd. If possible, avoid visiting on weekends and holidays, and get there early (8:30 am opening time) or go in the late afternoon when most tour groups have left.Other peak times for Xi’an, on the whole, are national holiday periods when millions of domestic tourists tend to descend on the city. To avoid extreme crowds, pick your dates carefully. Major Chinese holidays are the Chinese Spring Festival (late-January or early-February), Labor Day (beginning of May), National Holiday (first week of October), and Student Summer Holiday (July to August).
