Angkor Wat is the common name for the Angkor complex of temples. It is one of Cambodia's landmarks as well as a representative symbol of the country. It is located 6km north of Siem Reap. Angkor Wat combines the two basic elements of Cambodia temple architecture—altars and corridors—in a highly regimented and symmetrical complex of buildings. There are more than 600 extant structures. Some of the most famous include the Angkor Temple, Angkor Thom, Bakheng, Ta Prohm and Banteay Srei.
Reviews from Real Guests:
Trip.com User: Then most important place should visit is the Angkor wat. The Angkor wat contains many ancient temples with the religion of Buddhism. The fist time when I saw one of the temples, t was shocked. I have never seen a construction like this. But after visiting some temples, I felt very boring, and because of the hot weather, I wasn’t interested in the beautiful view. In ancient, people believe the gods in heaven, so there are a lot of steps which made me so tired! For supper, we went to the Pub street, it took 2 dollars t take a Tutu car to get there. Because mu mom wanted to try some local food, we had something very special to eat. I think it was disgusting. You’d better try the European food. But it is ok for your to have a try of the local food. In a word,Everything is OK except the hot weather!
Plum9195: Do not go to the early morning sunrise viewing of this Temple, frankly, it is not worth the hype. Much too crowded and really not that impressive of a Sunrise. Instead get a good guide and go after lunch. I will be much less crowded and you can enjoy it more. You can ask your guide to take you in from the rear side of the park and not walk across the most to enter. This will give you a view that most people never see. If you enter from the other direction it is a short walk through nice tree lined paths and you pass some of the lesser known temples. I have wanted to visit this sight since I was in High School and it lived up to my expectations.

There is Bakken Temple built on the mountain, which is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva. There is nothing more attractive about Bakken Mountain than the magnificent sunset here. There are two ways to get to the top of Bakken Mountain, one is walking, the other is elephant riding. To enter the Bakken Temple on the top of the mountain, you need to climb steep steps. When you come to the top of the mountain, you will find the Bakken Temple. In addition to the central tower, there are several smaller towers below, which are symmetrically arranged according to strict geometric patterns, but many pagodas are now incomplete. Although the Bakken Temple has long been dilapidated, the view here is very broad. To the west is the vast West Pond, to the southeast there is the Angkor Temple in the jungle, and to the south you can overlook the Tonle Sap Lake. When the sun sets in the west, the beauty of Angkor under the golden halo is romantic and unforgettable.

The Zodiac Pagoda, also called the Twelve Pagoda Temple, is located in Tongwang City, with a total of twelve small pagodas. The reason why it is called the Zodiac Pagoda is because each pagoda is carved with different animals, similar to the Chinese zodiac. Enter from the Victory Gate north of the east gate of Tongwang City, follow the road straight to the front of the War Elephant Steps, and in the bushes directly opposite is the Zodiac Pagoda. For many tourists, this place is often a pass. You can stop by after visiting the War Elephant Steps. The twelve ancient red clay pagodas lined up in a row are abstract in shape, and after years of wind and rain, it is impossible to see what the animal carvings on them look like. In fact, the use of the Zodiac Tower has always been controversial. Some say it is used to imprison and judge prisoners (use poisonous snakes to identify criminals), some say it is to guard the central square of Tongwang City, and some say it is a tower and a tower. In between, wire or rope bridges were pulled, and artists were put on it to perform shows for the king, and so on. You might as well go into the tower to see, study, and guess. Today's Zodiac Tower is extremely desolate, and it depends on the regular maintenance of the Cambodian government to prevent it from collapsing. These towers are dotted with dilapidated war elephant steps under the shadow of the woods, forming a vicissitudes of life that is worth recording with a camera.
