Whitby
|0.16km from city centerIf you *love* loud house parties and drunk people—this is your place! The smell of fresh paint just *barely* covers up the reek of cigarette smoke wafting in the open windows. On the plus side, there’s a busy street right outside and no parking. If you simply have to stay in the heart of Whitby, you probably could do worse, but you’d pay a lot less than £125 night. The room is nice enough, clean and fairly well-appointed. But you’ll be trying to sleep over a very noisy bar that appears to be very popular with the gauntlet of smokers you’ll have drag your bags through to check-in. Caveat Emptor: I am a woman travelling alone and I really didn’t feel the access to guest rooms was sufficiently secure. The only reason I stayed after realising that guest security wasn’t a priority is that I’d pre-paid.

Goathland
|0.3km from city centerWe had another 2 night stay in Goathland again and it had to be The Inn on the Moor for our evening meals. As ever, the staff were polite, friendly and brilliant. Last night I had the Atlantic prawn salad and Pat, my wife, had the scampi. Both meals were with us pretty quickly and were great. Tonight, I had the Breaded Brie and Pat had the Beef Madras and again, the food was great. It's a lovely, dog friendly pub, and very clean and tidy. We'll be back next year when we return to Goathland for a break.

Whitby
|11.37km from city centerWe arrived quite late Saturday evening, we were bought this stay as a gift for Christmas through buy a gift, we did actually pay an extra £100 for a more luxury stay. The outside of the pub is lovely, beer garden and outdoor bar looks appealing (we didn’t actually eat or drink here due to just using it as a base as we spent most of our time in Whitby) The restaurant itself didn’t look overally appealing and wouldn’t of been somewhere we’d of chosen to eat. The room was slightly disappointing considering we did pay extra for something better. Lots of dust and cobwebs, mould on the window frame and on the cushions of the window seat. Bits of paint chipped off the walls, the whole room could just do with an uplift. No kettle just a coffee machine (I think you could get hot water from this however I didn’t use it) We had a shower in our bathroom which the shower tray that you stand on was all cracked and looked like it had been attempted to be repaired (not great) It was fine for what we needed, we slept well and the bed was clean but unfortunately it’s not somewhere we would return to.

|0.4km from city centerHave you ever been to a hotel that just gets you? That's how I feel about La Rosa. I treated myself to a solo weekend stay in the Little Red [Riding Hood] room for my birthday, and had probably the best hotel stay of my life. The room was amazing - thoughtfully decorated with gorgeous touches to match the theme, with a cosy vibe and the comfiest bed. I booked direct so got complimentary continental breakfast delivered to my room. The room and bathroom were clean, and homemade soap (smelled amazing) was included. The staff were wonderful - friendly and chatty, and really made me feel comfortable, welcome and at home, especially lovely for a solo woman. In short, I loved everything about this hotel, and I would love to come back and experience the other rooms!

Whitby
|0.89km from city centerVery rare do you give 5 point reviews. This place shows up a lot of 4 / 5 star hotels. All the good: Location - 2 minutes walk from the sea, 10 minutes walk to the centre. Staff - A courtesy call 24 hours prior to arrival to ensure everything was ok. They were spot on throughout. Parking - Available outside the hotel at a cost of under £5 for 24 hours. That is a bargain nowadays. Hotel & rooms - Everything was immaculate and everywhere within the hotel was clean, tidy and felt fresh. The room was a good size and it felt cosy. The dining room both appearance and the service from the staff was by fare above and beyond 3 star quality. The bar was available and the draft beers were of a good taste. Breakfast - Very good. Complemented by the service. 1 point minor point which doesn’t alter how good it was - If I was staying more than 1 night a small mini fridge in the room would of been ideal for keeping drinks cold on hot days. Verdict - If I returned to Whitby again I would not bother tying anywhere else. It had everything required and it was above the standard that I was expecting. I initially thought it was expensive for a 1 night stay, however I was not disappointed and it was value for money.

Whitby
|2.48km from city centerSpent a week here on business and generally everything perfect. Room very spacious and clean and food selection great and service of high quality. Slight downside is that an adjoining door into the new accommodation area was not fitted correctly and with prevailing wind opened and closed throughout the night. Was reported by a number of persons and actions were put in place to rectify. As was using for business it would also of been more beneficial if breakfast could of been served earlier (opens 07:30) but now realise that room only booking might of been better suited to this trip.

Whitby
|0.34km from city centerThey are all girls who love to be clean. It’s good, the world cannot exist without girls. It’s just that it’s hard to find it when it’s dark. The train was delayed for the first time and I couldn’t find the way late at night. Google Navigation sucked me and went around to the other side. There was also a little fox with green eyes. It was the only one at night. Just the green eyes are dazzling, and the hair on the hair is standing on end. The next day I discovered that the road next to it was a cemetery. It's quite scary. It's easy to find at dawn.

Whitby
|0.46km from city centerDate of stay 21/22nd September 2022…. Room 307. On first impressions nicely situated On approaching entrance dirty steps needs a good clean and the arms to velvet settees in reception shone with the dirt from hands. Booking in staff lovely BUT the lift was out of order and we were on third floor I have asthma my neighbour a walking problem ,we have a room with sea view, due to lift being out of order we were offered a 2nd floor room no view we took a look at room ,we declined due to smell in room so we struggle with original 3rd floor room, very large but unwelcoming. The view if we could have seen out of the window properly would have been nice also the window was nailed to the frame shut, No fire escape if needed then came the cobwebs not only in the corner of the ceiling but down the wall ,the wall lights were so dirty inside with dust it did not give the light it should have.head board thick with dust, bed side table thick dust on legs skirting board the same ,then came the shower mat you stand on for safety in the bath was so rank when I picked it up I drop it it was black with scum and black mould. I can’t even guess how long it’s been since it was cleaned. Obviously we called the manager ,he was very apologetic and offered another room, we had already seen another room and was not happy he offered to have our room cleaned while we were out which we agreed to unfortunately who ever he got to go to the room only changed the bath mat and sprayed what ever to make the room smell nice, but as I walked to the television I could see the cobwebs on the light still so again we checked and sure enough the room had not been cleaned, you cannot Blame the manager for this but the staff in housekeeping . The royal is a very prestigious building and is very lucrative for you business but you are letting the side down when you do not take care of the of its decor and clients, as we were not the only ones complaining in some bed rooms the plaster is coming off the wall through damp and smells ,the stairs and bannisters we filthy and I mean filthy,I would not be writing this review if I didn’t think I needed to ,Alex the manager was excellent ,but you won’t have him long if he has to put up with this many complaints, and on the good side, the bar and restaurant were good, again staff were great and we loved Anika who was in charge and she had time for the guests and their needs. The dining area would be at a loss with out her whilst in Whitby we got chatting with the locals and unfortunately the royal is know as a dive which is definitely not good for business. And on a closing point we were cheeky and worked how much you were making @£75 a person not a room a night so before this gold mind falls down around your ears do something get a cleaning team in there and do a deep clean and and builders to do repairs. Alex was kind enough to give us a discount on the first night charges. It’s a shame that the staff have to endure these complaints d

|0.53km from city centerI took my dad for a few days in Whitby ( we have been many times, from me being a child, it is probably my favourite holiday resort in England) This hotel is situated on the cliff tops, it had brilliant sea views, a great breakfast ( no to much, but enough) The owners were very accommodating, friendly, and professional. The bedrooms were clean, had all the amenities we required. It was a great place to stay, parking was just around the corner, and in my view value for money, over thee 3 day period that we stayed. If I had one criticism , the shower leaked, so I had to shut the door, but I'm sure that if I had reported it, it would have been dealt with. Overall it is a great, relaxing place to stop and I will definitely book here again in the near future

Whitby
|0.17km from city centerThe house on the photo is both a pub and a hotel. It is translated as ”White Horse and Lion Beast” and we stay here. When I left the store, I took this booklet at the bar, knowing that it was the place where Captain Cook recruited sailors more than 200 years ago. A few years ago, I went to Mount Cook, the highest peak in New Zealand. Now I fly over half of the earth to the hometown of the explorer who first landed in New Zealand. Unintentionally, history is connected at the foot.
