The breakfast was average, although not bad. Sponge uttappa and Wada sambar, and omelette made to order. Lonavala & Khandala have always seemed over crowded on weekends, and not being a fan of exotic sprawling typical Indian resorts like The Duke's & Fariyas, our visit to this popular Mumbai hill stn has been just in passing with stopovers for lunch at some nice eateries of hotels/resorts. This time in Feb, after a lovely glamping stay in Pawna, as we stopped by for lunch, we decided to stay back. On a Saturday it's difficult to get rooms in any descent place & luckily The Bark had one. I v always been curious about this place calling itself an art hotel, so it was an added bonus for me. Far away from the popular hotel zones, down a road, this hotel cum house is by a river/stream and immaculately maintained by its owner who is a friendly charming lady & an avid traveler and collector of art. And a dog lover too. The place is littered with arty objects & paintings. Is spacious, airy with a laid back attitude, polite staff and a library. The pool table unfortunately is no good, thanx to non-players trying to have fun with the balls all day. The pool & lawn & gazebo are the highlight here. One can just sit and watch numerous birds come and go. Being off the touristy zones, its unusually quiet and in the midst of old residential areas of Lonavala, which are quaint and peaceful. They have a nice buffet spread for breakfast, and their ala-carte menu is also quite good, although a bit pricey i thought. The owner has plans to start an Art Cafe soon, and that wud b lovely. Their basic rooms are quiet small but beautifully done and very well maintained. The rooms with balconies are very nice & given a choice i wud definitely stay in those. The suites are also spacious. And i personally felt it was great value for money, unlike the Dukes and Fariyas which have countless rooms and charge top dollar. If you are fond of Lonavala, stay here once atleast to know the difference from other hotels there.

Unfortunately this tired old hotel is now not an ideal place for a business traveller. I booked for location thinking the photos looked good. I was upgraded to the executive suite but it is really not nice. The room in the bathroom is tiny because they have a massive bath which is placed so you have to step in and walk to the far side to put the water on (see photos) and if you want a shower at night you have to tell them because they turn the hot water off. I didn’t know that and no one said anything. The breakfast room looks great on entry and then you look at the tablecloths. All disgusting. I had to flip one layer over on three tables before I found a clean section. One of the housekeeping staff was sneezing without covering their face, then wiped their nose and headed into the kitchen. They touched the door as they went into the back. I asked that he wasn’t going to make my food and they explained he was one of the housekeeping staff. I decided to check out and move to another hotel. The Ramee Grand on the same road. I first asked to see the room as I was there before booking as I didn’t want to make the same mistake twice. I understand that hotels need refurbishment and are old but they don’t have to be clean. I have the same expectation for my hotel room that I have at home.

City Inn is a very nice hotel in Baramati. It is a little away from the main road, so a little away from the city buzz. The hotel has a good parking area, with nice lounge. People in City Inn are very courteous and service-oriented. I spoke to Somnath ji at the reception. He has booked 2 rooms for us without any hassles. There are 2 restaurants - out of which Street cafe is an open air restaurant, especially great for dinner. They serve delicious sandwiches, chat, Mastani, south Indian dishes, pizzas, etc. The service is really good and quick. One more speciality of the hotel is that they have a bake and cake shop. All the bakery items served and sold are prepared by home chef at City Inn. It is great to have fresh breads and cakes for breakfast. Overall, this is a great place to stay when in Baramati.

House keeping is horrible no room cleaning properly, room electric switch condition is terrible, not provided daily towels and water bottle we need to ask for everything, they have not added coffee and tea in room only on first day they have added but once it is over i think as no house keeping coming to refill it, to clean room and your bed. We should not expect such a service from hotel will not prefer to stay again here, for early check-in also they charged me half day price. Not recommended at all.
