|0.95km from city centerI will pick up on several themes from previous reviewers, but cannot be as generous in my score. The room we had was comfortable and bright, but that is pretty much where the positives end. There is a severe shortage of experienced staff. This impacts the check in experience, the cleanliness of the rooms and the availability of services like the bar. We had a note presented with some fresh towels which apologised for the lack of room servicing due to staff shortages. I had to take the rubbish from our bins down to reception! The surrounding area has many middle of the road eating/drinking establishments, with a few gems within walking distance, although walking round the area is not a pleasant experience. There is high homelessness and you are regularly hassled by beggars. The adjacent construction site starts at 0700 with constant jackhammering until 1630. Not the hotel’s fault, but very invasive noise pollution! We submitted some laundry to be attended to with the promise of a 24 hour turnaround - essential for us as we were on a tight schedule. The laundry was not returned and following a stressful 90 minutes while the hotel tried to locate the laundry which it claimed had been sent to an external provider, it was eventually returned unwashed, having been left in a corner in “housekeeping “. The lady who found it graciously took it away and laundered it herself, for which we were very grateful. I would not stay in this hotel or neighbourhood again.

HOWEVER, we get our room and we go to check it out and the hallways smells like nothing but rotten trash, ****, and cigarette smoke. This is supposed to be a smoke free hotel. I ask for a refund as I am pregnant and feel extremely nauseous due to the smell and they deny me of it because we were here for two hours. An hour of that I was outside trying to get a breathe of fresh air with beer cans and cigarette buds on the ground around their picnic table. Not to only mention we find a roach in the hallway. Lovely place.

It's evident the hotel is aging but our accommodations were nice & one could see that updates to decor, shower, etc. were somewhat recent. The shower area was huge (perhaps they got rid of the bathtub & just extended the shower area???) Must use room key card to access the elevator to guest room floors. Appreciate the extra security! The staff was responsive when we asked for additional supplies. The breakfast area was very nice, with great views. But the buffet is quite pricey as are individual menu selections. Better to grab breakfast in one of the many options in the neighborhood. There is also a restaurant on-site, again, very pricey. With so many options nearby, why not experience the city? We found the area to be quite walkable & were able to take in quite a few sites in our brief visit. Our experience at the Westin was positive; we understand the minor inconveniences of escalator repairs, etc. are part of general maintenance and didn't let that influence this review.

This hotel is perfectly located for a stay in Ottawa, being a short 800 metre stroll to the Parliament Buildings, War Memorial, National Arts Centre, Rideau Mall, and very close to the National Garllery of Art and Byward Market . We stayed in Room 2223 which afforded a breath taking view of the entire Ottawa Skyline - treat yourself to this Executive King Corner Room. Breakfast at Spin in the Hotel was very good, and priced fair. In/Out Parking on site is also fair and convenient. The hotel was built in 1972 but is well maintained and kept super clean. BIG shout out to MARK at the Front Desk who is absolutely so Personable and went above and beyond the call of duty for us. And of course...CARSON, what can I say, he is the Manager that all Managers should strive to be, very very accomodating! Thanks Ottawa Marriott...we'll be back soon!!!

|3.14km from city centerCame to Ottawa to watch a CFL game and would like to add our Argonauts won. Arrived on Sept. 23 and we were not disappointed from the moment we arrived at Hampton Inn. Check in was handled very professionally by Sam. Answered any and all our questions. Not 10 minutes after check in we were about to get on the elevator and the power went out. The staff went into immediate safety protocols. I think the lady in charge was Carol. Checked all floors, placed flashlights and so on. Impressive. Our room was large, nicely decorated and my wife loved the size of the shower. We stayed for 3nights and each morning we enjoyed our breakfast. The two ladies that handle the breakfast…Hilary and Elaine did a great job in keeping the breakfast hot and stocked. As well, they both have a great personality and made our stay even better. We would recommend this hotel to everyone and will be back next time we come to Ottawa.

Fiest time ppl we’re afraid , we had to go outside… NO STAFF explain nothing to us for too much time. I asked at the front desk and the woman there just ignore me. The other woman that was there didnt either explain I had to asked what’s going on is it a practice or not ? Ppl were actually afraid… She told yeah in the most nonchalant way. Also when we arrived, there was still hair and stuff in the bathroom that I had to remove. Ive check in early I must say but they told it was ok that the room was ready. Clearly it was not 100% clean. Breakfast is very VERY basic. I had to told front desk that coffee was empty… Plus, the first guy that welcome me at the front desk was not sympathetic. If you have the budget to go elsewhere just do it.

Very lovely owner, personable, and polite and very accommodating. Room was great, very clean and served our purpose for a few nights stay while attending University graduation event. Nice patio outside in the back to sit and relax. The complimentary coffee in the room was nice, but fancy coffees at the front desk area even better, a nice touch in the morning. I did like the double security at the front door. Oh, and homeless in the area has nothing to do with the hotel. We witness homeless in every city. A hotel I would return to without hesitation. This review is from a new traveler to Ottawa.

Also, a five minute walk to the St. Laurent public transit hub which is served by busses & light rail that takes you into downtown Ottawa & only one stop from VIA Rail station @ Tremblay Station. Front Desk Staff was very accommodating. The daily cleaning of my room ( I stayed for ten days ) was not good. I did not get clean bed sheets, no vacuuming done & wiping down surfaces was not done at all. I did get clean towels on a daily basis. First day I stayed I found lots of long black human hair on the bathroom floor ( yuck! ). Room itself was renovated with a modern look, not bad at all. I found the bed was very firm. TV channels do not display in HD. Breakfast was included with my room. Food quality for breakfast is very processed & lots of carbs. Even the hard boiled & peeled eggs come in plastic pouch! The only raw & fresh food I found was an apple. Dining area for breakfast is in the basement of the Hotel in a small windowless room with a TV broadcasting Canadian news. I did find the nightly price was a lot more than it should be for a 2.5 star place but it was the only cheaper option out of the other Hotels in downtown Ottawa at the time of booking.

It is no problem for the 4-year-old children to go by themselves. We originally planned to watch the light show, but the baby was not so late. If you don't watch the light show, it is best to live near the market, convenient to eat and drink. Spit the so-called garden view room, through a window of ordinary size, you can see two walls on the left and right (somewhat like a patio), and a narrow street in the distance. I feel that the garden view room is useless. Finally, spit and stop, the hotel does not have self parking, can only give the keys to their people, let them stop. The keys are always in their hands, they want to use the car or take things from the car through them (you can call or go to the lobby to find them, about 10-15 minutes to get the car, depending on how busy they are). Of course, this kind of ”high-end service” is to pay the money (30 knives)... After the spit is finished, the parking service varies from person to person, I don't like it. I wish you a happy trip!

There are too many Ottawa homeless, and the Youth Hostel is lined up.
The Youth Hostel is very clean, and the younger brother is hygienic. I am also the first time I am mixed with men and women. It is good to sit in a hard sleep. Every day, bed in the morning, wake up late and late, basically no embarrassment.
Impressed was the rainy day after visiting the National Gallery and sitting in the cafe drinking coffee. The years were quiet, and the domestic chickens and dogs jumped, thinking when they would return to normal, couldn't help but cry.

There was a fridge in the room, which is a bonus. The bed was so comfy to my liking. The toilet was also huge and the shower was powerful. The cleanliness of the hotel and room was also good. The hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. Although, during check in there was some mistake from the receptionist, we requested few months ago a connecting room as were travelling with the family, but then she give the connecting room to other guest just 3 minutes upon we arrive. I think thats the only downside. There was a swimming pool in the hotel, but it's also under renovation that time. We were told we can use the neighboring hotels pool as complimentary, which few blocks away to walk. So we didnt use it. For the breakfast its not included on the prize, but you can purchase it in the hotel. It was actually a good breakfast and tastes good. There was a bar in the hotel which I recommend you try the Canadian beer its so refreshing and tastes good. The bar men even advise us places to visit on our next stop. I recommend this hotel, its so close to to parliament and tourist spots in Ottawa. Will definitely go back here in our next visit.

I've visited twice now and will be sure to book again when needed.
Pros: Rooms are a very decent size, and the hotel just opened recently as of this review, so everything is gleaming clean and new.
The beds are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are lovely.
Cons: The TV could be a little larger, and I'm sad that despite marketing materials to the contrary, we weren't able to connect the TV through my YouTube account as I have been able to do at other hotels, but it was a small disappointment compared to the pros.
My largest concern is how quickly the right-hand elevator door closes without warning; it bashed me a good one as I was walking in , and while I can take it.and brush that off, had that been a small child they could have been seriously hurt. Please get that checked out.
In summary, I will recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a clean, quiet, recently priced place to stay while visiting Kanata 😁

I redeemed from my Aeroplan for the 2 nights stay, and I paid $25/night for parking. Room - The room itself is clean with quite spacious bathroom. It is equipped with small fridge and there’s a microwave over the counter which is good. Amenities - it has a swimming pool and it’s clean with the adjacent patio and you can go outside which is good. It served complimentary breakfast with good selection of food. Plenty of seatings within the dinning area. Parking - OK but a bit tight in the parking stall however even it’s quite fully booked we are able to find parking. While we stayed I’ve found it interesting cleaning wasn’t done during the first night. The attendant made a mistake to our room and we ended up knocking the wrong room but it was an honest mistake I believed. What I’ve found it interesting though is right across diagonally across is a homeless shelter so just be prepared across the corner of the stress diagonally there’s a homeless shelter and be prepared for that. It didn’t bother me but you may end up having the room view of that depending on where your room is located. I’m sad to see so many of them and especially during the pandemic still seeing them on the street is a hit heartbreaking for me. This is a relatively new hotel and suitable for family and I’d recommend.
