Lovely hotel & friendly staff. Really excellent service, very much enjoyed my two night stay with a group of friends. The hotel is in an ideal location close to the town centre, only a few minutes walk from shops, restaurants, attractions & the Lake front. Wonderful to have on site parking too. Would highly recommend & definitely return when in Keswick.

Had an overnight stay while visiting the theatre & what a great place. Recently changed from the Hazeldene & refurbished to a very high standard. Our room No 6 overlooked the fells & the pitch & putt. Breakfast was delicious & plenty of choice. Small car park at the side & a minutes walk into the town & theatre. Definitely will be returning.

Traditional Lake District hotel. Location was perfect for wandering around Keswick. My room was warm and had a lovely view of snow capped hills. Tea and coffee making facilities were available. Bed was very comfortable and facilities in the room were clean. Decor in the hotel is traditional country style. Check in was quick, a few stairs to climb to my room. The lady who served breakfast was very cheerful and friendly, despite us arriving very close to service closing. An excellent breakfast was served. The car park is small but managed to park my car and was allowed to leave it there for a few hours after check out so I could explore Keswick. A comfortable one night stay. Thank you.

I ordered a German beer, because although I am an Englishman, I have spent years living in Germany and know that nothing beats German quality control. As I sat down to enjoy the beer I noticed The I’ll-quality of the furniture! See images. I have lived in two continents (Europe and Australasia), and three countries: England, Germany and Australia. My empirical findings deduces the fact that it is only the Indigenous English native English speaking folk (Caucasian) that seem to accept such sub-standard ambience (furnishings), and expect other’s to tolerate such unacceptable standards.

We used The Grange as a base for our week in The Lakes. What a super find. Sally and her team are excellent. I had had a small procedure on my knee the week before so they found us a room with easier access. All the rooms are lovely though nicely decorated, clean and fresh. The breakfast set us for the day and we skipped lunch most days because of that. It is quite a hill to walk up from town but well worth it. The views are wonderful.

This is an amazing hotel, fantastic bed and great bath to relax in after walking all day. Staff were fantastic, very friendly, helpful and informative of the area. We had to order room service (additional charge) as we had 2 dogs with us, it would have been nice to eat in the restaurant.

Its always a slight concern when you return to a much loved and frequently visited hotel.. Will it be the same, will they have had to cut corners, reduce the service, be more officious and less friendly?.. Well we have Just returned from another splendid break at this exceptional small hotel. It oozes peace and calm, yet is in noway stuffy and formal. The staff are still friendly and professional, the food is exceptionally good, with the menu small , but well balanced and changed each evening. Breakfasts are excellent too. Our room was warm (Autumn in the Lakes .. this is important ) , comfortable and blissfully quiet. with a lovely view over the garden, great for red squirrel spotting. So again.. nothing to worry about.. all was superb, it was another great stay.. we will be going back .. definitely..

We are a party of six and pre-booked a table for late Sunday afternoon food and drinks. The food was very good, the Sunday Dinner in particular was worthy of mention, generous portions of Roast Beef/ Turkey/ Ham, a very good selection of fresh vegetables and Yorkshire puddings. We found the gravy could have been thicker but it didn't spoil the meal...a very generous plate of food for a good price. The staff, young lady and man were both professional and the beer selection was adequate. Nothing at all to complain about and good value for money in the Lake District. It's well worth a try, especially for Sunday dinner.

A beautiful B&B with lots of character and many positives: central location, clean, beautiful character-ful house, delicious breakfast, friendly waiter at breakfast, facilities in room, and warm shower with toilletries. However a few drawbacks: - Like many B&Bs the sound insulation is poor meaning you'll be woken up by the first person who decides to get up and turn on the tap/shower. - The owner was very grumpy when I arrived. Check-in is until 7pm so I notified them that I would arrive late due to work and was told my keys would be left in the porch. On arrival at 8.45pm the front door was closed so I had to ring the bell. The lady who opened the door was visibly unhappy and despite apologising again for arriving late was just passed the keys with a stern face and told me to close the door behind me before she disappeared. It wasn't the warmest of welcomes. - Room cleaning: I left my room at 11.30am whilst cleaning was ongoing and came back to it having not been cleaned - it seems you have to be out earlier or it will not be cleaned at all. If you book you'll have a lovely and fine stay in a beautiful house. I however probably won't return due mainly to the unfriendly welcome and poor sound insulation.

What a fabulous hotel. Paid extra for a Premier Double which didn't disappoint. A lovely bay window seating area overlooking the hills and lake. So peaceful and a beautiful backdrop. The hotel was sumptuous, breakfast was delicious and lots of choice. The staff were very friendly. Took one of the walks the hotel had suggested, written onto paper which you could take with you. Wow... stunning. Even saw a deer on our pathway. Our bedroom was beautifully done with a very comfortable bed and a super fan which was very much appreciated as we had the most amazing hot weather during our stay. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

After entering with some in trepidation I was pleasantly greeted by a professional friendly gentleman who took my order and booking for dinner that night. I found a lovely corner to pitch up and settle down to enjoy my pint. Some times when you just try you are rewarded. And this is one such time. Feel very comfortable in the friendly, bright, clean and well run establishment. Fully recommend a visit. And if you can stay in the hotel or camp site next door then so much the better 👍🎊👍 Foods good too 😋

We were visiting Cumbria for the Egremont Crab Fair and decided to venture further into the Lakes - we’re so glad that we found YHA Borrowdale. We had a group of 7 - split over a private room, a person in a dorm and a couple in a camping pod. The accommodation was what we all expected and we were all incredibly cosy. The only note that we had was the private room was incredibly warm in the evening - and, the window had to remain open. On the first morning, we had a full English breakfast - it was fab. Incredibly tasty and plenty of it. The continental options were great too. It really did set us up for the day. On both evenings, we stayed in the hostel for our teas. We all ordered a variety of foods and all were most happy. It was tasty, incredibly affordable and the portions were really good. The bar was great: decent, local ales. In the evenings, we retired to the common room to read and play board games. We had a blast. But, it would be great to see more comfy chairs around the place. In short: absolutely fab. Central for decent walks, lovely food, decent ale and pleasant company. What the YHA is for - and, we love it.

We decided to hold our elopement wedding at Armathwaite in early September. We chose the venue due to its stunning views and interiors and, being cat lovers, the fact it had its own cat! We fell in love with the view of the lake as soon as we saw it for the first time last year. Our wedding day was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our day/stay. Thankyou to our wedding coordinator Lynsey who ensured things ran smoothly on the day. Our wedding dinner was delicious and we enjoyed breakfast in our room on the morning of the wedding, an unexpected luxury which we were not expecting to be an option! There were thoughtful touches from the staff throughout the wedding day including the housekeeping staff leaving us swan shapes on the bed, rose petals on the table and a dessert plate with congratulations written in chocolate at dinner. The venue were kind enough to allow us to incorporate a barn owl for the ring delivery during our ceremony which was magical and much appreciated. The Boustead Suite we stayed in was spacious, beautifully furnished and had wonderful views from the balcony which was useful for wedding photos! The day before the wedding we enjoyed a relaxing spa visit and then we visited the animal park the morning of check out. Both were great to incorporate into our stay. Shout out to the staff who were all so friendly, kind and helpful throughout. We would thoroughly recommend staying here/ the 'secret wedding' package here and very much look forward to celebrating our anniversary here in the future.

From the minute we pulled up to the minute we left, couldn't fault a single thing. Lovely welcome on arrival, showed to a fantastic room and breakfast arrangements explained. Room was more than adequate with a really comfortable bed, good shower and tea/coffee facilities at hand,and breakfast was amazing, with really good selection and quality produce. Host couldnt do enough for you, even when he was flying solo on this particular weekend. Great location and close to town but just far enough out not to get any noise( 2- 3 mins walk). Managed to get a parking space in the street opposite, so car never moved all weekend. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again when next up there. Thanks for a great stay Noel & Lisa (Room 3)

The hotel is in a good location, just in the small town on Devon Lake. The room standard is 16 square meters, but it feels like it should be more than 20 square meters. Clean and hygienic. The service attitude is good, we arrived early, and the front desk gave the room without saying a word. The restaurant in the hotel is also very good and the dishes are delicious. Some local elderly people say that they have been eating in the restaurant for more than 20 years.
