Arrived to be greeted by a smiling receptionist called Fran, our room wasn't ready so left our bags in a room close to reception, trotted around Harrogate, The room was ready by 3.30pm,we asked for room 116,first floor, right next to the stairs(never hear the door opening or closing)as we have stayed in this room before . Great sized room, super king sized bed, great size TV,plenty Yorkshire tea bags and coffee, lovely powerful shower.Showers could use a small shelf inside so not bending up and down for shower gel/shampoo. Small comfy nap before dinner, dinner enjoyed in the on site Fat Badger restaurant. Delicious meal, good choice, not a huge menu but enough to satisfy everyone.great huge choice of wines,we settled on a lovely pino grigio, and even a cocktail in the hotel bar. Comfy nights sleep and an ample breakfast but journeying home.We will be returning for sure, its our favorite in Harrogate.Huge thanks to Fran on reception (and part time waitress) and also Dan on reception. Thanks for an excellent stay.

Wow! Booked last minute for 3 of us, didn’t see any photos of the room so were very surprised. I just booked as it said 3 beds, included breakfast and was in the town itself. The room was huge. There was 1 room with a four poster bed and a second room with a double and a single with really high ceilings. There was even a hallway when entering the room and the bathroom had a bath and separate shower. Everything was clean, beds really comfortable. Tea and nespresso coffee machine with a nice selection of biscuits. One of the rooms was slightly cold but they had provided plug in heaters. We overlooked the pump room museum. It was so close to town, the valley gardens and Betty’s tea room. It was a tad expensive but to be expected as booked last minute. Parking if you could get a space is £12 and has to be vacated by 12 noon, unfortunately I had to park elsewhere but it was not too far (jubilee car park for about £14). Breakfast was good but the room was even more impressive with lovely ornate ceilings, pillars and atmospheric lighting. There was a hot and cold selection, not huge but sufficient. Would have been nice to have more veg options such as veg sausages and I noticed that the same spoon was being used to serve the black pudding as the fried eggs so I stayed away and had scrambled instead. All in all a very pleasant stay.

We had been looking forward to staying in an up-market four-star hotel in up-market Harrogate; we were sorely disappointed. Things started to go wrong before we checked-in; we enquired about secure parking; we were told that the secure parking was directly in front of the hotel, not our idea of secure. We were, somewhat curtly, informed that it was full and that we would have to park on the street. No mention was made of use of the off-street parking availability at the sister hotel a few hundred meters down the hill, which we later understood could be used at the residents’ rate (£15 per night). We checked in to our “Deluxe Double Room”, our idea of “deluxe” is at complete variance to what we found; there was absolutely nothing deluxe about the room. The heating was off and the room cold. It was sp****ly furnished with, furniture that at best was Ikea, but more likely MFI. The windows were ill-fitting and had large gaps at the sides and bottom, allowing cold air in. The bathroom was sp****ly equipped with taps that are more style than functionality, it was impossible to turn the shower tap off with wet hands. The toilet seat was loose. The towel rail barely took the chill off the room. The room was not serviced on day two, for no apparent reason. We were later informed that the room was deluxe as it has a view to the front. The breakfast facilities are grossly inadequate, such that guests are required to request an allocated time. The self-service area is cramped and congested. There was only one toasting machine that required the bread to be put in twice to achieve acceptable results, increasing the congestion. We were allocated a slot towards the end of the breakfast period, some of the cooked food was not available and we were told that because it was the end of breakfast, no more would be cooked. Very far divorced from four-star service. To my mind, an English breakfast requires marmalade, the little pots of orange coloured jelly are what I might expect in a cheap boarding-house, not a four-star hotel. This hotel is one to avoid, it lets Harrogate and Yorkshire down in a big way. p.s I sent a copy of this to the duty managers for their comment before I posted it; they did not bother to reply.

Perfect Hotel with amazing staff. We have stayed at the hotel for one night in a dinner, bed and breakfast. We have been welcomed by Rebecca and Honor. Both of them helped us with the check in and parking. The room was very well equipped. The menu options for dinner and breakfast were very tasty. On check out we had the pleasure to speak to Taylor and Gerry. Again the check out prices went very smooth. We will be definitely coming back again.

We stayed at the Studley Hotel for two nights and found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. The cleaners we have to say provided a first class service and our room was immaculate when it was made up during our stay. The Orchid restaurant food was delicious and the service very good. We would have given more stars but for the check out experience whereby the receptionist told us she had been advised by the barman that “our friends had left the hotel and said we were to pay a £58.00 bar bill” ; we were absolutely astonished as we hadn’t had any friends staying with us at the hotel. After some discussion she agreed and we didn’t pay “our friends” £58.00 bar bill. However, the receptionist then produced two further bar bills for £19.50 and £10.50 which again was confusing as I always paid the bar bill immediately when I ordered drinks. However; I showed her the deductions on my bank statement account on my phone for the £19.50 but couldn’t find the £10.50 which I then paid her because we had intended to leave £10.00 tip for the room service cleaners who did a fantastic job. Hence the £10.50 we paid for the bar bill we didn’t recognise was this money we had for the cleaners tip. We tipped the Orchid restaurant staff £20 for very good service and we tipped the barman £5.00 which considering the barman’s comments to the reception staff giving us “our friend’s” bar bill we wondered whether we should have tipped the barman. Apart from the financial confusion above we found the hotel very good but a tip on future trips to keep all bar drink receipts. Special mention to the room cleaning staff and the Orchid restaurant staff.

Brilliant location , right in town but with the double glazing you cant hear any traffic. car parking just behind building and locked at night. Was very reasonable price to leave car for 24 hours. Very clean apartment. Everything you needed inside , beds made. towels. bin bags, dish washer tablets. We was on the 3rd floor so got to see over the convention centre which was next door. Lift came in very handy with lots of gift shopping. Spoke to Sarah on last day who was lovely to meet. We stay for 4 nights. Well informed on where to eat and visit. Better then staying in hotel as everything was so close. There are steps outside building which would not be suitable for a wheelchair user, and i couldnt see another entrance so might need to check this before hand. Front door is very quick to shut, so dont stand in front of it with a lot of bags. Felt very secure with code to main front door and then key to your room. We would defo stay here again.

This charming hotel was in the ideal spot, in the heart of Harrogate. The staff make the initial great impression, very welcoming, helpful and approachable. The reception, drawing room, dining areas are beautifully decorated and well presented. Soon as you hit the bedroom floors you start to see that it's a little run down, specifically the carpets could do with a replacement and walls could have a refreshed lick of paint. My room on the 1st floor definitely seen better days and the walls are very thin and the lights are on all night in hallway which isn't great and you will be guaranteed a sleepless night unless you're a deep sleeper. They do provide you with ear plugs and cover set for your eyes but it wasn't much helpful in my case unfortunately. The room itself is well equipped with a fan which I appreciated as the rooms get very warm at night and there was no hope in opening the windows. Please clean the bins thoroughly as the limescale on the bathroom bin in room 126 was bit gross. I do hope that there are future plans to redecorate the bedrooms and hallway as this would really lift the hotel to a better standard. Breakfast was great and the menu throughout the day must change regularly as you can only view once you arrive. There is a bar menu and 3 course dining menu. The bar menu is recommended as it has a variety of choice for all types of taste buds. I would come back as overall it did meet my needs, just don't expect that this is a 4star hotel, it's the service and location that make this hotel a good stay.

We were so excited for our luxury afternoon tea with champagne……………. (65 pound!!!) What a disappointment. Bar staff friendly but all guests had to shout them as they stand behind the door chatting. After shouting the lady she led us to our ‘sofa’ with a table cloth on the coffee table. Very disappointing, no1 else having afternoon tea. Just guests checking into the hotel. A dog on the next table, drunk guests very loud. Felt like we were in the middle of a waiting room…. Felt abit stupid. Champagne was ok- staff didn’t make it feel very special. Afternoon tea came, yes the food was nice. But we just felt uncomfortable on the sofa eating off a coffee table. No music, just background noise of people checking into the hotel. My partner asked for no pickle on the sandwiches which was ignored. I think it all was pre made as the sandwiches were a little hard on the edges. 6 cakes each, which was a lot! And only 4 small fingers of sandwich each, no other savoury. No offer of other drinks. We left and mentioned to the staff at reception that it was very poor. And he said sorry but there’s nothing he can do…… very rubbish services from main reception. I will defiantly not be returning as it was the worst afternoon tea I’ve had - and extremely over priced. It wasn’t even worth 20 pound!

Greeted with a friendly face and directed to reception. It’s a massive hotel old but clean and interesting. Our room 333 over looking the back of the hotel green lawn. The only thing I wasn’t keen on was the tea making facilities, which were polostrine cups like takeaway ones. Maybe from Covid, and the tea milk and sugar in a tied up bag, no tray. But later on we ordered sandwiches from the bar and he said that he could get them to our room if we wanted to rather than wait in the bar for them. That’s when I asked for a real cup and he said that he would send two up with our sandwiches. Nothing is to much trouble, I would and will be staying here again.

Lovely clean room, nice and quiet, plenty off hot water. Restaurant first night was fully booked, second night got table Stood for a good 5mins before someone came to show me to a table, although there was at least 3 members off staff there. The gentleman that seemed to be incharge, walked straight passed me to get another member of staff to serve me, the other member of staff was the only one that looked like he was working. Restaurant wasn't very warm was gladni had put my cardigan on. Gentleman that took my order was very nice Got my dinner, but had to put it back steak was cold, mushroom too, but chips were warm. We stayed here for 2 nights recently, as we were attending Ripon Races. We were 2 couples - 1 of whom stayed in 1 of the garden lodges and 1 of whom stayed in 1 of the classic doubles. The garden lodge room was a lovely size, opening out onto a verandah within the garden/grounds, a very peaceful location. It was a lovely and comfortable room. The classic double room, whilst smaller, was well-appointed and had everything we needed. The breakfast had plenty of choice and was really tasty. The staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful, a credit to the hotel. Onsite parking was free of charge for guests. Next time we're coming for Ripon Races we will definitely stay here, it was a lovely hotel and we're very glad we booked to stay here!

The cost of the accomodation didn’t quite match the level of service we would expect. The location is grand and the facilities are really good, as is the breakfast. However, the pool is limited to strange times for families such as during breakfast and dinner, when the middle of the day is would be more suitable. Also someone chased after us when leaving the spa to return the towels, which two children were using, rather than allowing us to leave them in our room for housekeeping to collect. The house keeping took two turns to send shampoo to our room, after a polite call, they sent shower gel instead. In summary, great food and facilities, but it’s bit awkward with children to be there and the service in the spa and housekeeping is lacking.
