First time staying in this hotel so was unsure what to think however the room is so comfortable and clean. Neli, the member of staff at the front desk, was so helpful and checked us in quickly and answered all the questions we had. It was nice to be greeted with a smile when checking in. The rooms are on the small side but the layout worked very well and makes the most of the space. The bathroom is clean and provides shampoo, body wash etc for people who are travelling light. Luckily the rooms have air conditioning which is perfect for these hot summer nights. Definitely recommend, amazing deal for the price!

It wasn't our first visit to a hotel from a Malmaison chain and safe to say the experience didn't disappoint. The hotel is positioned very centrally and everything you need is at most 10 minutes walk away. Unlike other Malmaison hotels we have visited this one also offers spa and gym facilities which are open for the hotel guests and although we haven't had a chance to make use of them they did look nice and we will make sure to book a much longer stay to enjoy these facilities in the future. Breakfast as always didn't disappoint and is highly recommended. Same goes to the bar area which is very nicely design allowing the guests to enjoy a nice drink in the evening.

01. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting downtown (L). 02. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early at like 10am. We got to hotel super early and I didn’t wanna wait. So this was a big plus. The sevice was exceptional as well. Would definitely send a friend there. 03. I had a wonderful experience at the (HN). Every staff member I encountered, from the valet to the check- in to the cleaning staff were delightful and eager to help! Thank you! Will recommend to my colleagues!

Very friendly professional reception staff. No problem checking in. Room was ready at 13.00. 6th floor room facing train station. Very very clean spacious room. Only thing was noisy loud rowdy people along corridor early hours. Was able to store bags upon checkout n collect later. This is my 3rd stay at this hotel. Will stay again next January.

I will not hold it against the hotel if other guests are making noises outside my door. The location is great, rooms are clean, well stocked with tea/coffee, staff is friendly and professional so what else can I ask for. It is not a spanking new hotel so do expect some inevitable wear and tear. As the weather turned hot the room was starting to get stuffy and I had to open the windows which looked out to a quiet alley. If I need to, I would stay here again as it is a pleasant place.

I arrived past the check-in time, and reception was not around to receive me. Nonetheless, there was a number on the door to call, and I was talked through the process of getting in with the code, and to collect my keys. The gentleman was incredibly patient with me, which was appreciated as it was late, and I was exhausted from a long work day and it was my first time in Birmingham so I got lost finding my way from the train station to the accommodation. The apartment was incredibly spacious. The living room and kitchen made me feel right at home, and the kitchen was well equipped. There were two bedrooms and two bathrooms - I was a single traveller so I didn't need to use all that space at all. The bed I slept in was marvellously comfortable. The bathroom was spacious, the water pressure was strong, and I really have zero complains about it. Location wise, there is a mall next door, although by the time I arrived it was closed, and when I left for my work meeting at 7am the next morning it wasn't opened yet. There were also some restaurants by the waterfront around the corner. I think this is a great accommodation for families or friends travelling together.

Located in New Street which is just around the corner of New Street Station. Very good location which is very convenient for shopping, watching movies and eating. Close to Grand Central and Bull Ring. The hotel is quite old but clean. My room is on the second floor and face New Street which is quite noisy but can enjoy many street performances. Delicious and comfortable Buffet breakfast. Most of the Front Desk staffs are not friendly enough.

Going on a business trip, really not looking forward to it at all..booked the closest hotel to the venue not realising it’s actually connected..expected to be in a travel lodge-esque box…this hotel was so nice, I’d happily go back! Everything about it, polite helpful check-in staff, excellent room with everything I needed. Lovely staff in the restaurant, even allowed me to grab a pastry for breakfast even though I’d not paid for breakfast ( surgery precludes me chomping down on piled high buffet plates)….uber comfortable bed, fab shower, tea coffee facilities, iron and board, usb sockets in the room…in spite of what others may have experienced, the entire hotel was immaculately clean and tidy..with a somewhat unusual but really nice orange smell in the reception…would not hesitate to stay here again!!

The staff were polite and friendly, the location was great as right near the arena. We were given a disabled room which was large and on the 4th floor as I requested a low floor. However, I had no sleep as net curtains up and blind didn’t pull down. Also, breakfast was fairly chaotic the next morning. You literally have to do everything yourself eg make your own hot drinks, roast your bread. I personally prefer it cooked to order or at least for them to bring you toast and coffee, which is what I’d expect for nearly £150 for the night. Overall, I think it’s overpriced and I would not stay here again!

Every member of the Hilton Team we met during our stay were fabulous- receptionist, bar staff, executive lounge team, Brightsmith Restaurant, house keeping, breakfast, concierge - all keen to help, have a pleasant chat and a laugh- yet continue to work and remain professional - very tuned in to guests and the guest experience. A credit to themselves and the hotel. Our room was exceptionally clean and I have to say the bed and pillows were the best I have ever slept in, amazing. The hotel was busy which added to the atmosphere and buzz. Yet the bedrooms were really quiet. In my opinion The Metropole has the edge over other hotels. We stayed here a few years ago and it still has that 'plush' appeal, it is a treat to stay here - it was like coming home and we intend not leave it so long before we return again. Thank you all.

Fabulous hotel in the heart of Birmingham. Walk is not too far to Broad street which is where we were headed. The decor is tastefully done and the pool table on the 1st floor was greatly enjoyed for a little bit of relaxation and competitiveness. Stayed in a Penter plus room on the 7rh floor and despite the lack of bath robe and slippers which it stated on trip, the room was modern, fresh, clean and comfortable.

The nicest part of the hotel is the bar. Other than that I see no reason to stay here. The check-in desks are informal islands, the size of a dinner table where they check two guests in at the same time. So you are shoulder to shoulder with another guest and trying to make out your portion of two simultaneous conversations. When I got to my room, it was warm and stinky. I tried turning on the ventilation system, but it would not work. Called reception, they said they’d send somebody up to look at it. I waited over half an hour, nobody showed, so I called reception again. No answer. Over the next 15 minutes I tried a few more times, still no answer. So I figured I’d go downstairs to see what’s going on. The three reception clerks were just standing there chatting amongst themselves, no guests waiting. I guess they couldn’t be bothered to answer the phone. Anyway, now that I was at reception and explained the situation again, they gave me another room. That room had some really old, worn furniture and was actually a bit smaller than my original room. My punishment for requesting a decent room I guess. We had booked two rooms and the other room was very cold throughout the stay, with the air conditioner running hard all the time. Changing the settings on the thermostat has no effect. Breakfast was mediocre in offering. For a big room, there was only one coffee machine working. The queue was about 20 people deep at one point. Some of the warm food on the buffet was clearly not being warmed and had cooled to room temp, which is probably a food safety issue. We had requested a late checkout, were told 2pm, but keycards stopped working at 1pm. If you are looking to stay here because you want to be next to the shopping mall, be sure to check out the mall’s website first, it is quite small, and does not offer women’s apparel. There is also not much else to do in the area. I feel that this hotel is very expensive for what it has to offer. The rooms are worn out and uncomfortable and the staff that can’t be bothered to put in the slightest effort to make things right. They are probably just as frustrated working in this place as the guests are that stay here.

I stopped here one night with friends for my birthday. The hotel is easy to get to, and the location is excellent as it’s located on Broad Street, near Brindley Place which hosts a wide range of bars and pubs. So if you’re visiting Birmingham to have a drunken, night out or a special occasion then this hotel is perfect. There’s also parking on site behind the hotel which is very handy, unfortunately the car park isn’t discounted for guests stopping in the hotel. After waiting in a small queue, we attempted to check in at 14:30 (half hour earlier than check in ‘opens’) we were told the room wasn’t ready. Which wasn’t an issue as they had luggage storage available. We can back to check in at 16:00 and the queue was horrendous. I’ve never seen a queue as big as this to check in for a hotel before. We waited for 20 minutes until we checked in. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. Although there were coffee cups left behind the curtains upon entry. The bathroom was very modern and had a walk in shower. The beds were unbelievably comfy and had plug sockets by the side of the bed which is a massive plus as not every hotel has this. Luckily, it was a quicker process checking out as you can just pop your keys in the ‘express checkout box’. Overall, a comfortable night stay in the heart of Birmingham, unfortunately the check in was horrific.

We stayed here as a family during the Commonwealth games and were more than happy with the hotel. We stayed in a family room with a sofa bed made up for the children - perfect size for two toddlers but might be a squeeze for two older children. The room was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. The location is perfect and within walking distance to the City centre. Lovely walk along the canal to Brindley Place and Sealife Centre. The hotel has its own underground car park which is a real bonus priced at £13 per night. Follow the one way system round to the rear of the hotel and you'll see the entrance. The hotel was full to capacity but still plenty of spaces. Tea and coffee facilities in the room, but we used the free drinks vending machine in reception instead. Good selection of drinks and available 24 hours. We added breakfast on the last morning and it was £9 per adult, children free. Good selection of cooked breakfast, cereals, continental. Overall a great stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we came to Birmingham again.

Premier Suites Birmingham offered a comfortable and affordable night's accomodation. Right near the Bullring in the Chinatown district, we were able to rent two single-bedroom suites for ourselves and our teenage children for less than a single room in London. Each room was appropriately appointed with separate bed and living/dining areas, hot showers and full security. There was no after hours service and the very limited parking spaces need to be booked in advance, but there is parking available at a nearby facility for a discounted rate. Overall it was a pleasant night's stay for a very good rate.

I came with some friends, this was a special occasion, a celebration and final get together for one of the group who is expecting a baby. We were all really looking forward to it, but I was really disappointed with the quality of the food and, at £30, thought it was incredibly bad value. I would have felt this way even if it hadn't been an important event for the group, but this really added to the disappointment.  I was particularly looking forward to the savouries, but there were two tiny sandwiches and a tiny pastry with some chickpeas on it. One of the sandwiches was cheese, which honestly had a piece of cheese in it that was about 1cm squared and the size of a biscotti and the other, smoked salmon, had barely anything else in it. Also, the bread was not fresh. In terms of the sweets, the biggest cake, the lemon drizzle, was genuinely stale and the use of what can only be perceived as pre-packaged puddings in clear plastic containers seemed cheap and chinsy (not to mention wasteful).  Sadly, the warm, tasty scones are all I can reflect positively on with regards to the food.  Having looked at the Time Out website and seeing The Edgbaston was number one, the picture and description differed a lot from what we experienced.  I love eating out and feel that both the quality and value here was really below par; especially when I consider what I could get elsewhere for £30. I have had afternoon teas in many other places and this has been the worst, and the most expensive. Two of the party had the veggie option and they had a slightly bigger sandwich, which seems an unnecessary inconsistency. Finally, the service was also a bit slow and we often had to go and look for staff. I appreciate there are some circumstances in the current climate which means these things are perhaps outside of their control, but the quality of the food was inexcusable in relation to the high cost. I have emailed the Edgbaston regarding this (basically this review) and have not received a response, even after chasing it.

Been twice in a matter of months. Located a short 3 minute walk to the terminal best location! We stay in the short run carpark as always cheaper on holiday extras for us, the bus stop is literally outside terminal and a short 15 min trans. However a number of car parks are so close. Car Park 1 is the closest and I think 4 and 5 across the road. Bar and food is expensive although a good quality, very trust worthy and friendly staff and as with all Hiltons a good standard of linens and a great night sleep

The 5th floor room was quite an experience to behold! Upon entering the wedge-shaped cave, we were met by a strange smell, which receded a little after 24 hours of opening the tiny window onto the concrete central courtyard (the only source of natural light). Cleanliness was a problem, as it was apparent that lamps and switches had not been cleaned for some time. Skirting boards had accumulated considerable amounts of dust. The brownish carpet next to the bed was threadbare and looked dirty. Decor was reminiscent of early 1970s. The beige wallpaper was falling off in places. Wood furniture was of a type that could easily have been picked up from a house clearance after the occupants had died. Ceiling stains from previous water leaks were apparent. Bathroom was that of a poorly installed 1980s design. Of course, shower bracket broken (shower head hassle to be held by hand) and there were brown stains within the bath and tiling. I swear upon using the shower for the first time that the water ran brown, but I could not replicate this later. I hope it was just rust. The toilet paper holder was at least quite humorous - pull the screw out to release the black electrical-taped holder to insert a new roll. This really is a joke. A hotel chain simply shouldn’t regard this as acceptable in 2022. We were offered free drink vouchers as compensation, but the room could not be changed as it was fully booked, due to a health conference - I hope the delegates did not leave more unwell than when they arrived. Positives - staff friendly (and apologetic), nice food, decent Wi-Fi, nice reception and clean bedding and towels.

At check in I was advised by staff member Connor that breakfast was only paid for one room of the 2 rooms we had booked. I asked if we can add the breakfast on to the family room for 3 and he confirmed it was still possible and I paid. So far so good, service was friendly and helpful from Connor. The next morning when my family went down for breakfast we had the misfortune of receiving the worst service I have ever had in any hotel, let alone Premier Inn who I have used dozens of times over the years. We were very condescendingly told by Kerry the lady behind the desk that only 2 people can eat breakfast as we had only paid for one person in one room and 1 person for the family room of 3! She confirmed the payment made the night before was only for 1 person for a room of 3! The 3 people were my elderly parents who both suffer from diabetes and a 10 year old child. When I said why was only one persons breakfast booked when the room is for 3, without being questioned before payment - her response was ‘I don’t know but we can’t do anything any longer’. Even though I paid for breakfast for the room of 3 at of check in, I offered to pay for the rest of the people in the SAME ROOM, Kerry bluntly said “well it’s clearly something that you don’t pay for so you won’t get it”. I explained my parents were diabetic and there’s a 10 year old child and they all need to eat breakfast - Kerry just did not give a damn about the circumstances or their health issues. Or even the fact that I was willing to pay for the extra people but mainly the fact that it was accepted by Kerry that only one persons meal should not have been booked at the desk and still being rude and obnoxious with her responses. When I challenged her attitude and tone of voice (used no profanity or derogatory words), she simply said if you carry on I will go into the office and not come back out. Which she then did as Kerry completely got angry and stormed off. When I asked to speak to the manager, lied by saying she is the manager and she will not try to get breakfast. I was completely shocked by the manner of her behaviour and tone of voice. Another employee who cleans the rooms had been watching and when Kerry stormed off refusing to help us any further, the cleaning lady spoke to us in a more understanding and competent manner than Kerry attempted for the full 50 minutes my family waited at the desk to not be fed breakfast. I finally gave up asi couldn’t risk my parents not eating for longer due to their health issues I asked for a refund on the breakfasts I had paid for. Kerry then went back into the office for a further 20 minutes before coming out to say it’s been refunded. My family had to go to the Coop down the road to eat sandwiches for breakfast as Premier Inn simply couldn’t care less about customer service, customer health risks or even fixing mistakes made by their team members. What an embarrassment for the company that I honestly had no bad experiences with from t

At short notice I needed to find accommodation in the middle of Birmingham City Centre. The location and access to parking was a key factor in finding the right hotel. I had never looked at private apartments before, but when I came across 8 Waterloo St, I was very surprised. Also the SnowHill Train Station car park is only 5 min walk away. I was a bit concerned about having a £350 security hold placed on my debit card, but upon arrival I understood why. No.8 Waterloo St and the apartments are amazing and fitted out to the highest of standards. Just after my arrival my business partner joined me for a meeting in my apartments' own kitchen/dinner. Fully fitted kitchen including dishwasher, settee, table and chairs. Also within the apartment was a large bedroom and a very well appointed bathroom. My business partner was amazed at the high quality and very good price to stay. Tea/coffee etc is provided, but you need to source your own food. I am a complete convert and will use No.8 Waterloo St whenever I am in Birmingham or the NEC. Thank you to the staff and the manager who greeted me upon arrival. 10 out of 10 for apartment and staff. I stayed here for one night during a work trip. On arrival, the car park says 'pay and display', but for the first day you can get a refund in the hotel with a purchase. However, when I went to check in, I questioned this and the receptionist said that you did not have to pay if you were staying there, it was just for people visiting the restaurant. There is no where that states this on the signage so I'm sure that many customers using the hotel end up paying for parking without needing to! The receptionist was really lovely on arrival, but stated that the card reader to get upstairs to access the rooms was temperamental so we may need her help getting through. She was very friendly and willing to help us. When I arrived in my room I was pleasantly surprised as it was nicely laid out, with a decent size bathroom including a bath. Plenty of tea and coffee provided with two packets of biscuits and lots of lovely shower/bath soaps to use. However, as I went into the bathroom there was a large step that I obviously did not expect! So I tripped over that, and then saw the sign saying 'mind the step!'. The sign for this was on the bathroom door, which was open, so was not in my eye line until after I'd already fallen down it! After a long day I wanted to shower and make use of the lovely soap provided. I saw the temperature was on the lowest setting (less than 20c) which I thought was odd, I usually have it on at least 38c, so the thought of 20c would be very chilly to most! However, I soon realised that despite how much you turned the temperature down, it made no difference and the water was so scalding that I could not physically stand under it. To overcome this, I ran a bath with the scalding water and left it for over half an hour to cool down! There were several marks in the bath but I had no other option at this point. Whilst I waited, I thought I'd make a cup of tea. I noticed that the kettle was still half full from the previous customers, so I poured it down the sink and noticed several pieces of black limescale come out with the old water! No matter how much I tried to rinse it out with water, it would not come off so I was not even able to have a hot drink as I did not feel comfortable drinking water from that kettle. After my (very late) bath I headed to bed but the room was incredibly cold. The window was wide open when I arrived in my room, which wasn't an issue in itself but after I closed it there was still a cold draft coming through it. I ended up sleeping in my t-shirt and jumper with the duvet wrapped around me as much as possible! So I can't say it was a great sleep either. I went down to check out and perhaps ask about breakfast. There was a different receptionist that morning who was less friendly than the one from the previous day, she gave the impression she was too busy to answer my questions, and didn't even ask how my stay was. I found out the breakfast was £12 which I thought was steep anyway, and by the point I did not

Good location near station and shopping mall but a bit messy. The rooms are large and there are plenty of milk tea bags. There will be no other facilities. The breakfast at the hotel is buffet style and tastes average.

The location of the hotel was okay, good nearby links to the train station and attractions. There's no food or drink other than vending machines in the hotel but there is a Sainsbury's local opposite. Bed was comfy and the temperature of the room was controlled. TV was very small and in an awkward position to watch from laying in bed. No hand soap in the dispenser and there was also a leak from the toilet/sink area.
