|7.45km from city centerwent here on early Feb 2023. I thought it was just a normal shop lot/budget hotel. However when i step in the lobby, i got shock with the interior & ambience, feels like in a 4 star hotel. The housekeeping staff name Hidayah really did a great job for do some room tour with us. she show us a few room type and explained every details & facilites in the hotel. the reception (Indian guy, cant remember his name) was very polite & helpful upon check in. This hotel has a live band every evening, free parking area for guest (but have to walk a bit), a nice and cozy restaurant & a small gym. the bed & pillow was so cozy, it has aircond & fan too! They provided USB charger as well in the room. The shower room was spacious and very clean. i would love to recomended this hotel to all if you all want to have a trip at IPOH!

|4.41km from city centerThe look and feel of Sarang Paloh is lovely. It has an old world style which we loved. The location is also great, ten minutes from the station and close to lots of restaurants and spots in the old town.
The room has a nice style to it as does the garden you walk through. The room facilities were lacking, with no fridge and no safe which we would expect at this price point. Hot water in the shower doesn’t last long and they provide a 3 in 1 body wash, shampoo and conditioner, again something we wouldn’t expect at this price point. The hotel also doesn’t offer room cleaning. This may have been because we stayed for two nights only but this is not communicated on the website or at check in. This meant used cups or water bottles aren’t cleared nor is the rubbish bin emptied. We were also not made aware of locally available discounts for staying at the hotel.
All in all an ok stay but several small things made this not value for the money we paid.

|2.3km from city centerBefore checking in, the hotel sent us a guide in advance. The check-in rules stipulate that the mailbox pickup password and key box password will be sent before 3 pm. Check-in was relatively smooth, but there was no place to store luggage, so we had to wait with our luggage. I was not satisfied with the rooftop swimming pool. When I arrived at the hotel downstairs, I saw a notice saying that it was under maintenance. A large part of the reason for booking was that I saw this swimming pool. The treadmill in the gym was very old, there was no air conditioning in the gym, and the electric fan was not powered. It was basically useless... It was very hot and I couldn't stay there for a few minutes; the room facilities were quite warm, the table was fully equipped with dishes, knives, forks and spoons, and there were air conditioners and electric fans in each room; I was not satisfied with the shower in the bathroom. It was burned for a long time, but the bath water was still very warm, and it was even cold when washing hair. There was no toothbrush and toothpaste, and there was only an empty box for the hair dryer, but no hair dryer; the toilet was wiped several times with wet wipes, and it was black after wiping, and the hygiene and cleaning needs to be improved.

|0.92km from city centerI recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the location is great, and the hotel provides four EV charging bays, which is a fantastic convenience for electric vehicle users. This feature alone is a big plus.
However, I found the room situation less satisfying. I booked a Deluxe King Plus room, but it seemed no different in size or amenities from the regular Deluxe King room, which was a bit disappointing. The room had a noticeable odor, and unfortunately, the bedding and towels were not up to standard. The bedsheets looked worn and yellowed, and the towels were also discolored, appearing dark and yellow. This made the overall room feel less clean and comfortable than expected.
If the hotel can address the upkeep of its linens and improve the overall cleanliness, it could be a much more enjoyable stay, especially with the EV amenities in place.

There is a 7-11 just a few steps away from this property with many ammeneties and personal items jyst in case you need. Not to mention the convenience of drinks, smokes & snacks if you need it midnight. Parking is very convenient right in front of the Hotel but municiple attendents starts summoning cars after 8am if you forget to pay for the Parking fees... Other than that, i will definitely choose This Hotel again Whenever i visit Ipoh city... Ohhh btw, there is a Nanyang Village Restaurant just opposite Lotus Mall nearby the hotel...food is fabulous and lobing owners Jim & Amy are very good chefs preparing such GOOD Breakfast & lunch... |6.18km from city centerThis used to be my favorites hotel before MCO, but now after MCO, everything changed, I booked the room 1 week earlier, when I check in, 2 indian lady staff ask for my booking ID, I passed them my booking details and my IC(as my booking name is same as the IC) but they just said they can't find my booking,they didn't receive my booking! They don't even search for my name to check properly. After they confirmed with their manager, my booking has been transferred to Expedia, but actually booking name is still same, just the booking I'd changed, why they still can't find the booking? Then, this 2 staff speaking Tamil Infront of me for few minutes to discuss their check in thing, .. they asked for my phone number, when I'm telling them my phone number, don't even finish my number yet then they speak Tamil again, discuss for something else. Then I stop and wait them to finished their discussion in Tamil language which I can't understand at all, then she ask again my phone number, then I have to repeat all over again. This is so rude to speak their own language Infront of guest somemore we can't understand it at all! After check-in,I realized they assigned me a twin bed room, they said they received my booking is with twin bed, but what I booked from agoda is double bed! Which is 1 big bed for 2 person! U tell me that u received booking stated twin bed, do u think this is my problem?! There are 2 different room type twin bed and double bed, I paid more expensive price for double bed, twin bed is cheaper! and I'm not saying that I choose the preference for double bed,The room type I booked is STANDARD DOUBLE BED ROOM. The next day I checked out early morning around 6/7 am, the front desk staff changed shift, is a Malay girl, she don't even say any word for the whole check out process, no greetings, no thank you at all and with dirty look. I stay in this hotel couple times before, everything was great back then, even though it located far from the Ipoh town I still choose to stay here but now no more next time, I know I should not have high expection for budget hotel but the staff really need to be train well on their knowledge and how to respect people..

Room decor is grey and added in yellow dim lights, the setting is somewhat depressing even when it's a sunny day outside. Also need to close curtains all the time as room window faces inner mall and you can see ppl walking past :(

Unfortunately the room was quite dusty when we entered, our feet is full of dust and a small cockroach at the corner. Then again, for this kind of price we truly didn’t expect much. The lobbyist is kind enough to lend us the cleaning supplies to clean the floor again. Toilet is good and everything works well. Bedding is clean as well and there are a lot of electrical ports at both side of the bed for us to charge our phones. There’s only a bar and a high class restaurant nearby, so in order to have meals we must drive out.

The area mostly consists of local Indian people/shops but so far everything was good. It just only quite sunyi at night but busy during daylight.
The exterior was a perfect place for OOTD😁
More important, it took us only 7-8 minutes to Concubine Lane, 10-12 minutes to Canning Dimsum.

No Shops around to Buy water or a snack, only Workshops and garages for Miles, Next to residential Zones. The „retreat“ Faces a Wild Garbage disposal and Some wrecked Cars. Restaurants nearby close After lunch. No points of touristic interest nearby but many mosquitos around. Not Even a television in the room as advertised. The „nice Design“ consists of nothing But painted Concrete Walls. The room is Hot, tropical climate. The housekeeper is nice but doesn‘t speak English or knows the area at all. The Management was Not helpful and only Tries to lure tourists inside. Don‘t stay here, this is not worth your while or your Money and nothing But a total top-off.

The unit was very tidy and clean. There is a gaming system in the unit with hundreds of games which was fun to play with. There is also free Netflix.
The Wi-Fi is good, beds are comfy, and ACs work well in every room.
The location is great - a short 5-10 minute drive or grab ride to all Ipoh attractions. We were able to get a grab with 3-5 minutes of booking every time. Really recommend this space.

|3.38km from city centerWe booked a room for 4 as we travelled as a family. The room is clean, firm bed quiet and the staff are helpful. It is a short walking distance to Ipoh old town. I definitely will stay at this hotel again for my next visit. The room comes with a huge TV mounted up and hanging from the ceiling. There is nothing much to watch but it is a smart TV, probably one can surf the Net or Youtube for more entertainment. The room comes with basic facilities but since it is a budget hotel, we are not expecting too much. We are not sure why the food on the table was infested with ants.

Although it is not located near to the city centre of Ipoh, but you can easily access it if you’re driving. The house provides you with everything that you need. comfort beds, high speed internet, food and drinks, board games, and etc. Rachel responded promptly to questions and provided clear instructions for check in/out procedures. You will surely want to continue staying with them again next time when you are back to Ipoh.

Hotel is owned by the State Government. Pros: - Value for money - Adequate room space - Modern amenities & fittings in the room - Package include drive thru movie for guests - Night vibes outside : Roundabout - Still considered new & well maintained -Staff are attentive - Lot of parking space but shared with the convention centre. Please note the parking space are open. Cons: - Location - not in central Ipoh where all the vibes - 10-15 mins drive to town or Ipoh Garden /Bercham / Tambun - No facilities - swimming pool The room package comes with breakfast which you have to pre-select from the choices available.

|4.45km from city centerWe stayed here for only one night after coming down from Penang. It’s a small boutique hotel with basic amenities but very close to all tourist attractions. We checked in quite late at about 7pm, so the road to Jalan Bandar Timah was quite empty. The next morning, we were surprised because the road leading to everywhere was so jammed and all shops (coffee shops & restaurants) were so packed with people, long queues everywhere! Even though this is a small hotel, but it is very clean. Remember to bring your own toiletries as only shampoo and shower gel were provided in the room. Other than that, everything was good. Highly recommended for those love to walk around and learn about history of Perak.

|3.29km from city centerOur stay at the Golden Roof was terrible. From the start, the check in took a lengthy amount of time even though no one else was waiting to be checked in. When arriving to our first room, there was a huge yellow stain on the bed. Upon complaining for over an hour, the manager finally offered us an upgrade. Unfortunately, the upgrade was actually a downgrade. Wallpaper falling off, dead bugs on the floor, broken window, drainage problems in the bathroom, other people’s hair all over floor and on the bed. I would highly suggest not to book this hotel and waste your money here. The rooms again were terrible, the couches in the lobby even had stains, the hallways smelt like smoke even though it was nonsmoking, and the staff were rude and not willing help correct the issues. Extremely disgusted and disappointed with this establishment!

Can chill out on roof in hammocks anytime. We stayed in family king room. 120 ringgit per night plus 10 ringgit per night foreigner tax. 50 ringgit deposit. 1 king bed and 1 single bed. Shower only, soap & toilet dispenser on wall. Hairdryer, fan and air conditioner. There’s a cover for the window which blocks out the light for sleeping. Hallway has water filter, kettle, ironing board and spare toilet. Some rooms here are dorm rooms. There’s a sign out front of hotel for walk ins, pay 3 nights and get 4th night free. Bicycles for hire and drinks sold in lobby. This hotel is in new town. There are some food options in old town in the streets surrounding concubine lane. If you are here on a Tuesday try the night market called pasar malam taman Ipoh timur - large night market. About 10 ringgit grab ride. There’s a Tesco next door with free wifi if you don’t have data, to order a grab back. Walked through gerbang malam approximately 7.15pm on Wednesday night, market stalls were only beginning to set up. Restaurants around there were full. Next night we walked through approximately 9.30pm, all stalls were up. Also try Tong Sui Kai for food. Usual local dishes and dessert. Remember you can only sit in front of the stalls that you will be ordering from. I have done a separate review about this place. There’s also a food court near there.

However, just brief info the parking lot is bit far from the lobby so need to walk a bit to unload stuff from car to lobby. Overall everything just nice and recommended. Location not that far from the attractions. There is laundry bar in front of the residence area. So it is quite helpful

|3.51km from city centerBeds in Garden Hostel Absolutely the ideal backpacker hotel! When I entered the door, I thought it was just a small backpack inn. After I checked in, the counter sister took us into the bed. The hall was really beautiful, and the space was oversized. There were tables and chairs that could chat with others, and there was room to do things alone. There are also some table games on the table for everyone to play, I really like this atmosphere ～ After arriving at the room, I found that the ceiling version was high. The whole room looked very comfortable and large. There were cabinets under the bed to lock valuables. There were also lights in their own beds that could be turned on and would not affect others. The bathroom equipment is on the other side, far from the room, I like this plan, the bath or wash will not noisy others, the space is also designed very well, and there is shampoo and bath milk, awesome!
