Stayed at Santa Fe International Hostel recently, and it was a complete disappointment. Here's why: Facilities: The building itself feels like it's stuck in time, with basic amenities that don't function properly. Sinks in disrepair, toilets that struggle to flush, making it feel more like a survival challenge than a hostel stay. Management: Upon checking in, I was subjected to an interrogation about my personal details, followed by a lengthy tour that felt unnecessary. The manager explained the chore system, which felt like part of a communal ethos, but the execution was lacking. Service Fail: The most egregious part was coming back from breakfast to find all my belongings boxed up. Apparently, the staff had mixed up my check-out date. When I expressed my shock and frustration, instead of an apology, I was met with hostility and told to leave without a refund for the night I was supposed to stay. Owner's Attitude: The manager/owner came across as pretentious, enforcing rules with an iron fist while neglecting the basic upkeep of the property and guest comfort. This place seems to misuse its non-profit status to sidestep standard hotel regulations, creating an environment that feels like a scam. Travelers, beware. This is not a place for rest or relaxation but rather a test of endurance."

Room L had bed bugs. Whilst this hostel has many positives (kitchen, outdoor area, quiet) none of them balance off the amount of bites and live bed bugs that I found after the sixth night of my stay. Travellers beware!

We were really looking forward to checking in to this "international hostel", but our first impression was that it really wasn't much like any hostels we'd ever stayed at before. Not a fun HI young friendly traveler vibe, they wanted CASH only, and wouldn't even allow us to see a room unless we paid up in full first. Had to go find a bank to withdraw some cash but by that time my partner who had stayed behind started feeling uncomfortable about the whole idea, lots of rules like having to do housekeeping chores or you don't get your key deposit back, etc., so we hit the road to find somewhere else to stay. Might be a good choice for some low budget travelers, but not for us.

Le positif : un rarif intéressant et une très bonne atmosphère entre les résidents et le personnel, c'est une "auberge de jeunesse" donc il faut bien être conscient des conditions ! Le négatif : j'avais réservé pour un couple et une chambre individuelle avec sanitaires pour 35 dollars sur le site officiel "hostelworld.com" - acompte prélevé à la réservation 3 mois avant mon voyage, Le jour de mon arrivée on m'indique que les réservations par informatique ne fonctionnent pas (acompte perdu) !!!! Que je ne peux qu'avoir 2 places dans 2 dortoirs séparés pour 50 dollars et il faut me décider car la réception ferme ! Finalement on nous place dans un dortoir pour 50 dollars, sans sanitaires ( hygiène des lits difficilement descriptible !) Le lendemain après discussion un peu compliquée , mais courtoise, avec le manager il me rembourse 10 dollars sur les 20 de payé "en plus" , mon acompte "perdu" , et je n'ai pas eu la prestation demandée (chambre avec sanitaires) Ce n'est pas grave car nous avons dormi , dans dans des conditions me rappelant mes voyages en auberge de jeunesse des années 70 , mais c'est franchement pénible (je passe sur l'hygiène ) pour des couples de notre âge ! : à réserver pour de jeunes célibataires "routards"
