First visit to Corfu (but no stranger to Greek Islands and all-inclusive stays). Many comments by other visitors are valid - I'll add some context. Wasps: The Daphnila Bay does *not* have a (particular) problem with wasps. Sure, if you go to the hotel, you will see them. If you go farther than the hotel, you will see that anywhere in Corfu that serves sweet things outdoors has wasps. Lots of them. But, don't swat them away. Watch the hotel staff (bars, food service), they just tolerate them, don't annoy them and don't get stung! After watching the locals, watch the wasps - they are mainly inquisitive (not like the vicious little 'stards we get back home) - they are chill as will you be after your stay. If you are allergic to wasp sting, you have my compassion and, you might want to pick somewhere else for your holiday. Tired paint: It's then end of a busy season where the hotel has suffered the onslaught of thousands of uncaring guests (and some respectful ones). What do you expect ? Beach: Yes, it's small. Yes, you need to shift your sunlounger round to sunbathe. Have you never had to do this before or, does your butler do it for you ? The hotel is very well located to spend lots of time on the beach (compared to other parts of the island). There is another option close by if you're adventurous. App: Thank goodness for TripAdvisor. Without all your constuctive comments, we would not have enjoyed any à la carte. And all the à la carte we did enjoy was exceptional (as it was inclusive). You need to get that app and start reservations at least a week before your visit. Staff: You have read elsewhere how good they are. We can only agree and note that the leadership for such a friendly, attentive, hard working team is spot on. My only ask is that you be nice to them - your efforts will be truly rewarded!
I always like to leave a review on our adventures to guide other people. Hope this helps, as it is a very true reflection of the resort. Firstly, we had a 1hr delayed flight from Manchester - which meant arriving at 12:45am at the hotel. Very kindly upgraded me and my family due to it being our wedding anniversary that week. The golf buggies took our luggage to the room and we had a cot in room as requested once arriving. First view the room had amazing views of the Bay and sea - looked absolutely incredible. The room itself is spacious, although quite a few red ants which was quite uncomfortable at bed time. Room cleaned and tidied every day , which was a nice touch. Now for the food, the food at breakfast was incredible. Appeals to all. We never had lunch so can't comment (we were AI) but the weather was 50/50 for the 5 days we were there. Rained horrible twice and then absolutely bliss. so that's a risk, worth taking we'd say. The Al a Carte's were phenomenal. The Asian and Greek especially was amazing, i forget her name but one of the waitresses who kept making my 1yr old girl laugh is a credit to the hotel! Gave a little tip, apologies didn't have more to give. The pool is very very cold, the inside pool isn't much warmer, but refreshing once the sun has been blasting for a few hours. Now, the main issue, out of hotels hands are the Wasps. Whatever drink we had, water, diet coke, alcohol, we felt we had to rush the drinks as they swarmed on you and with a 1yr old it's not very nice. Even worse down by the beach (private beach - which is stunning) as people put cups on the side and wasps are all round the loungers. This was the ONLY downside to the holiday, so jungle spray or sprays helped. May have been time of year, but it was very very uncomfortable. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay shame about the weather and wasps but, everything was lovely. We probably wouldn't return ONLY because we like to visit other places regular, but for sure, recommended to others :) ~ Thanks again, The Clemsons
