I have never written any reviews before, but this time I felt compelled to share my experience. I highly recommend visiting Casa Colonial as soon as possible. Our family vacation there was truly magical. From the exquisite architecture and interior design to the attentive staff, delectable cuisine prepared by the chef, and the luxurious pool and spa facilities, every aspect exceeded our expectations. We have been searching for a destination like this for a long time, and Casa Colonial surpassed all our hopes. We were pleasantly surprised to find that it is also very accommodating for families with children and babies. The personalized, warm, and exceptional experience we received at Casa Colonial, complemented by the stunning tropical views, is unparalleled. This establishment certainly deserves a five-star rating.

Birthday celebration- location was perfect. Off season - Weather in the 90's - more staff than guests. Breakfast at the pool everyday with spectacular views, no one else was there. Take the classic car tour for 3 hours - well worth it. Rooms were ideal - spa was most accommodating - booked 2 different massages plus the Romantic Getaway package - Itself a great deal. Ana - our reservation specialist was responsive and to the point on all requests. Greilly our concierge handled all requests even on short notice and gave great advice, Looking forward to a return trip in the Fall!

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Money My experience at this resort was frustrating from start to finish. The resort frequently lost power—by frequent, I mean six times in one night and sporadically throughout the week. Even when the power was on, the air conditioning didn’t work, making the room unbearably hot and impossible to relax or sleep in. On our first night, I asked to be moved to a room with functioning AC, and the front desk clerk escorted us to another room—only to find the AC was broken there, too. He assured us we’d be upgraded to a better room the next day. We spent a sleepless, uncomfortable night and returned to the front desk the next morning as instructed. What happened next left me speechless. They said we could move to the upgraded area with working AC—but only if we paid an additional $147 USD because it was a “remodeled room.” I asked how they could justify charging us more when working AC was supposed to be included in the original price. The clerk apologized, but insisted this was the only solution. Reluctantly, we paid the fee, but the new room wasn’t much better. The bed had a deep sag on both sides, making it nearly impossible to get a decent night’s sleep. To make matters worse, the AC in this room stopped working on the final night of our stay. We weren’t the only ones dealing with this. After speaking with other guests and reading reviews, it became clear that AC problems are a common issue the resort is well aware of but hasn’t resolved. While the location and amenities might look appealing online, they don’t make up for the constant power outages, broken air conditioning, uncomfortable beds, and poor customer service. To top it all off, the food was mediocre at best. I left this vacation more exhausted than when I arrived. Save yourself the frustration and avoid this resort entirely.
Its cool, small, but the attention and atmosphere was good.

The customer service experience and nightly entertainment is what sets it apart from other all inclusive resorts. The employees do not expect a tip (unlike jamaica). The staff all go above and beyond to make your stay / vacation a pleasant time. Special mention to Star & Sol whom do an amazing job facilitating the Kids club/ Delfi club. They have themed programming and activities for kids daily. The nightly entertainment was amazing. They had an Africa Show - it’s their rendition of Lion King with a love story. It’s great value this resort. Their sister resort next door Senator is upscale; however, I didn’t find the nightly entertainment as good.

Overall: Disappointing all-inclusive experience at an outdated, understaffed resort offering little service with poor processes and little, sometimes rude, communication. Come with a great, flexible group of friends for a good time. Property: -It is a large property but only half was available for use. The half with the second pool, bar, restaurants was empty and not staffed and a good distance from the open food and bar areas by the lobby. -Wifi was surprisingly decent in and around the lobby and pool area. -The property is very outdated and not well maintained or serviced. At no time does staff come around to pick up or provide drink service anywhere on the property. Guests either clean up after themselves - or don't in most cases - and provide their own self-service for just about everything. -Available pool was crowded and apparently hard for staff to keep up with maintainence. Beach: -The view and beach is beautiful with an abundance of trees for shade and relaxation. However, there is a good deal of seaweed and coral on the bottom and it was challenging to find an enjoyable spot to enter and swim. -Many beach chairs were available but also many of the backs were broken but we were able to fix ourselves with the pieces that were left laying on the beach. Staff/Service: -This was definitely not consistent. Since most of the staff spoke little to no English, communication was frustrating for guests. Hotel would benefit from more English or bilingual speaking staff. Some staff were extremely friendly and others rude or wouldn't speak at all. -There needs to be improved processes for checkin. We were given little information about the property, amenities, restaurants, how to reserve and reservation limits, or the bars and their hours. It was discovered ourselves that we had access to some of the amenities at their newer sister property, the Senator, but weren't told which. -On a Friday, literally hundreds of guests arrived almost simultaneously for the weekend, were placed in the hot theater for checkin and they sat there for a good part of the day. -Staff was clearly inadequate after this point and service worsened. Food: -While there were several restaurants listed for ala carte and as an alternative to the buffet, there were only two-the Italian and small steakhouse. We were given daily, inconsistent information when trying to book and ultimately were only able to eat at the Iralian restaurant one night. We were incorrectly told we had already booked two times and we couldn't again. This wasnt the case. -Bars only serve ”Classico” brand liquor. -The buffet food was mediocre at best and very redundant, especially when it became your only option. A cockroach was found in the salad and others a chair and rhe floor. -Roaches were very visible in the open bar area one evening. The next morning, exterminators came to spray while we were enjoying morning coffee, and sprayed counters without regard to the self-serve cups and utensils sat. -Lat

The only problem is that I have to pay a fine of $100 for each room, because the hotel said it was an offer for American citizenship only... and the page told me that it was not because of the offer. .. I was stolen by the lifestyle tropical beach all-inclusive spa resort hotel chain Puerto Plata, do I need to do a lot of care redo?

This is an older place, but very clean. Dawell was amazing and so very kind and helpful. When he was not there, his co-worker George was just as nice and friendly and helpful. The 2 of them made our week so much easier. The staff was very kind but not many spoke English and would have to get someone to help on most occasions. We did not like that the cruise ships came in every morning dropping off bus loads of people. We had to put towels on seats in the shade, or they were all gone, then they stayed at the swim up bar the whole day. When they left, the local Dominicans came in and did they same. Would I go there again, absolutely! The Japanese restaurant was delicious as was the Mexican.

Not even a 4*, sadly. This resort has potential to be something better. Let me get the not so great stuff out first: no decaffeinated coffee (unless you want instant) in the coffee shop. Public restrooms had doors that wouldn't close or locks that did not work. Vendors are either very persistent or busy lounging on the resort lounge chairs. Sometimes chatting with the security. Drivers of the ”little vans” can be dangerous, speeding along. Some of the landscaping is overgrown and blocks views. Saw someone nearly get hit by a van as she went to step on the pathway. Beach ”grill” is a very limited buffet. Food would be brought out, wrapped in plastic wrap around 10 and restaurant would open at 11. Food was overcooked, cold and soggy. Reservations are a most. Can only be made one day in advance for next day only. The service in all 3 a la cartes was good. Food was inconsistent. Mexican we had 2xs once excellent and once not good at all. Same meal ordered. Husband had some beef dish and he said it had the strangest ”texture” and gross. Food, everywhere, was average at best. Beverages: juices tasted like fake sugar. Frozen drinks were syrupy and not frozen. Unless you wanted to order a pina colada or coco loco at $4USD or $6 with rum. Water in bottles in room only. Otherwise you get a cup full. Resort was jammed with locals or those from cruise ship on day pass. Cruise ship clients got beach wait services and were able to bring food out of the grill. Food was replenished and fresher at the beach on the day the cruise ship day pass people were there. These people were ”treated” better than those guests on site. When waiting at reception, it seemed at that all the associates were happy to chat up the locals checking in. We waited and finally, had to chase someone down to answer a question. The locals obviously got preference and better service than other guests. We were in adults only room block. Came back to the pool for an afternoon swim and the pool was drained. No explanation. We paid extra (2 couples in 2 separate rooms)for the adults only area. The other pools were loud and had games or loud music and kids. Not what we booked or paid for. When the pool became available, the bottom is so rough you need to walk carefully. The filter/skimmer was not working. We pulled leaves out of the water. Then there was the handfuls of fake hair. Locals arrived with their large, loud speakers drinking and smoking in the pool late into the night. No quiet swim (or any swim because the pool was crowded). The noise bounced off the walls and could be hear around the other side of the buildings. The room we had was very dark, even with all the lights on. The toilet seat did not fit the toilet. Patio door was difficult to open and squeaked loudly when pushed. There was frequently the sewer smell in the bathroom. It was coming out of the shower drain. Shower didn't drain, sink stoppers didn't close, lighted makeup mirror didn't light, ceiling did leak in the bathroom
