Looking for a few days away with my husband, San Sebastian was the perfect choice. After much research we decided to stay at Nobu San Sebastian, this 5-star hotel offers breathtaking views of La Concha Bay (from all areas of the hotel) and combines traditional Basque charm with sleek Japanese design. The rooms are super stylish and comfy, and the amenities are first-rate – think infinity pool, fitness centre and electric bikes available for guests to use. The customer service second to none, nothing was too much trouble. The highlight was by far, dining at the Nobu Restaurant, where the fusion of Japanese and Peruvian flavours with fresh local produce is simply incredible! The hotel is perfectly located within a stones throw of Ondarreta Beach and La Concha Promenade. Nobu San Sebastian is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the beautiful old town with its famous restaurants, bars, and historical sites. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to mix relaxation and good food with a bit of culture. We would highly recommend both San Sebastian and Nobu Hotel and restaurant for your next weekend away.
This was our first time in San Sebastian. I normally do extensive research when it comes to hotels, but given the international brand name, I figured this was a slam dunk. Well, I was right. Hotel Nobu was a NoDuh as far as we were concerned. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and this was our last of three countries we were visiting. It was our favorite by the way. We do want to give a shout out to Amaya, Nefer, Isidoro (Isi), Marta and Danielle. ALL amazing staff who were so attentive, friendly and really went the extra mile to make us feel spoiled. We had a rough time getting to Spain and they, in their own ways, wanted us to feel special and appreciated so we want them to know we appreciate that. To wrap this up, I would say you are moronic for not staying at Hotel Nobu if you come to this area. It is a small 17 room hotel where you do not see children (which we loved) and it is quiet, elegant and classy. I recommend a suite with an ocean view and advise you speak to one of the people named in this review. We hope to see them again.

The room was very good, there was a high-end feeling, and welcome champagne was also sent. The front desk service was warm, helped to book the restaurant and provided various information. There is a little regret that there is no big mirror in the room and it is impossible to shine. I don't know what the reaction of those stars to try on clothes without a full-length mirror when they come to live

The hotel is exquisite and clean. The location is very good. There are many things to do around. Fly in the ointment The room is too small, so small that it is difficult to put the suitcase completely. The Spanish ham and cheese served for breakfast in the morning was very good, and the semi-buffet breakfast was clean. Good for vacation.

I can truly recommend this hotel for a trip to San Sebastian. We put down a lot of effort in choosing hotel for our weekend trip and this was just perfect for us. It is walking distance to everything and located by the beautiful beach. I dont think there is a better located hotel for a weekend trip. Its also absolutely beautifully decorated and the rooms are large with very comfortable beds. We picked the cheaper option with the street view. But that was not too bad, the street is quiet and then you can spend your money in the bar as the hotel has a very nice terrace by the beach. A good selection for breakfast is included and you can choose to have it in the bar/terrace of in your room. We had wonderful weather and you can borrow towels and even some deck chairs and go straight out to the beach. The hotel is small with around 20 rooms so book in time. Lovely staff as well.
We’ve been fortunate enough to stay in fine hotels all over Europe, and this hotel is simply excellent and has it all. I would give it 10 stars if I could. Let’s start with the location: facing beautiful Concha beach, rooms have incredible views. The rooms are incredibly well appointed and comfortable: fantastic bed, pillows and linens. Reading lamps, high ceilings, a few extra comfortable chairs, high tech climate control and automatic window shades, an elevator actually big enough to hold more than 2 people and their luggage. Great and plentiful full breakfast included In your stay, you won’t leave hungry. And lastly, helpful and friendly staff. This hotel has it all, and we can’t wait to come back. Others hotels should use this one as their model for perfection.

Beautifully appointed hotel in the old town with fabulous views over the bay. The roof terrace is a treasure, what a place to enjoy a late afternoon drink and watch the sunset! The staff were all very good - everything was made to feel effortless and we had a very relaxed stay at the hotel. Breakfasts were excellent and hats off to the team - they were so organised and friendly - just like being in the best pintxo bar in the old town! Only feedback for future guests is that you can't sleep with your window open due to the all night noise in the old town - the rooms have excellent windows and block the noise but you need the aircon (we don't like aircon so we didn't sleep as well as we're used to as a result - I can't fault the hotel in any way but just feedback for others.)
- Philip E
The hotel has a wonderful position and from our room we could see the harbour and the sunset as well as the street activity. It has also the advantage of being part of the old town where we could walk and sample a lot of pintxos. The staff were always helpful and particularly at the meals in La Jarana Taberna and restaurant. The team at breakfast was always cheerful and enjoyed working with each other and customers. We could not hope for more. One minor negative point: the shaving set had the most painful razor I have ever experienced in 60 years, the vanity set was of equally low grade. A hotel of your standard should do better. You should change supplier. I am reflecting this in the rating below for Value and in the Overall Rating. To offset this the mattress was one of the most comfortable my wife and I have ever slept on. Altogether a pleasurable stay and we would return without hesitation.

I rarely write hotel reviews, but this time I really want to write about this seriously underrated hotel. The hotel is located on the top of the mountain on the side of Shell Bay, overlooking the entire Shell Bay. The scenery is invincible and the sunset is so beautiful. The hilltop pool is beautiful. There is a cable car up and down, 5 euros back and forth, directly to the beach, so convenient! There is also a small playground on the top of the mountain, which is slightly soiled, and the little one will like it. The hotel facilities are slightly old, and the sea view room is still invincible. Breakfast is not good, it is too simple. In short, this location is the only place to come to San Sai, and it is absolutely necessary to stay for one night!

Loved this hotel! Would highly recommend it to all our friends and family. The position is perfect and the welcome we received was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was gorgeous. Two pretty shuttered windows overlooking the cathedral and square, fantastic bathroom and we both said the most comfortable bed we have slept on in an hotel for a while! Also the blackout blinds were excellent. House keeping just fantastic, so clean and tidy everyday. Narru the hotel restaurant was delicious and ate there twice!! You must book as it is very popular with locals too. The oxtail ravioli, hake with cauliflower and red tuna gazpacho just to highlight a few were just delicious. Above all the service from all the staff was tremendous. Always smiling and ready to offer great recommendations. Thank you for a super stay we will definitely return.

After months of researching hotels in San Sebastian to find a truly magical experience for our anniversary and first trip back to Europe for 30 years… we decided on Arbaso based on glowing reviews, insightful articles and the belief that we might experience something a bit special. Unfortunately Hotel Arbaso left us with a huge bill and very little else! In entering the hotel we were barely acknowledged as the reception team continued their chatter, barely removing their eyes from their screens. No help from the Porter with bags and very little insight into how the hotel worked and what they offered. We’re paid extra for a large duplex suite - fraying floor rugs, damp smelling and in need of an overhaul. The service in Nauru was negligent - pretty much ignored as we struggled to flag down a waiter.. and it wasn’t busy. Whatever Arbaso lacks is a service ethic and they’ve failed in recognising that when booking a destination hotel you want a little bit of magic and some care. Outside of the hotel we were overwhelmed with the friendliness and amazing service we received… exceptional dining experience at Arzak, insightful and magic walking Pinxtos tour with Basque Bites. After lugging our bags to our waiting car, the receptionist glanced up to say ‘see you next time’… definitely not!

✴︎Pros: - cozy and natural woody taste room which is definitely my type - water is free of charge if you ask the front - sunshade was smart enough to be controlled by buttons ✴︎Cons: - no place to get foods besides the restaurant located inside the hotel - ordering by an item is not available for at least the lunch time we went, had to order 2 items for each person including dessert - location is a bit far from the busy area of San Sebastian however taking taxi only took 12-13euros even at night, and taking a bus is easy on the way since going to the bus stop is really within a minute. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel if you are easygoing to get around taking a taxi and a bus and rather sleep in a quiet area.

The hotel is very nice and comfortable. It is located on a hill, the rooftop swimming pool is comfortable, the sunset is beautiful, and the breakfast is rich. It is worthy of being a restaurant in a Michelin-starred town. Even breakfast is particular about it

Welcoming faces at the reception, check in was quick and smooth, site of the hotel was ideal with the local park across the road quite pretty with swans and other birds . Gardeners are busy with peace and quiet. The old town was always worth a visit. The white sandy beach with the blue skies and the glowing sunset was pretty. Not very keen on the food but there was variety but cannot beat the cheese cake( sorry no biscuity base!).

The decoration of the hotel is very bright, the rooms are large, and the bathroom is also large and has separate dry and wet rooms. It is very close to the seaside and the old town, and it is only a few hundred meters walk to go out to eat. A very satisfying stay.

Akellare is among the nicest properties I have had the grateful opportunity to visit over a full lifetime of travel. It's architectural character is itself a stunning fit to its environment, but the architectural restraint featuring the property's landscape, allowing and yielding to Atlantic views framed across the Basque country seaside is brilliant in all ways, sight, smell, sound and touch. Akellare allowed me to feel the quiet, and its correspondent peace. The staff at Akellare are sincerely warm, kind, attentive to any and all needs making me feel not only cared for, but wanted. And the restaurants need no comment beyond their historic acclaim, other than to say the dining surpassed even those highly lauded expectations. Akellare is a pinnacle experience, there is none like it. My sincerest thanks and appreciation to the Akellare staff, all of them, for creating such a special experience, and to Relaiscand Chateaux for helping to bring that magic to reach around the world.

Unfortunately the hotel was a little underwhelming for me. We stayed for 3 nights at the City room, which says it can come with two Twin beds, a double bed, Queen, or King-size. I must have been unlucky because we had a double bed and room was tiny (there is no way a queen or king size bed can be included in the room). The layout was very odd: room was very small but it had a wide entrance and sizeable showers and toilet which was as big as the room. The only positive was the balcony which was quite nice (and big!). The breakfast was quite nice with plenty of choices so we enjoyed that. The other positive was the nice rooftop pool and lounge which would be nice during a hot summer. The gym is pretty good for the hotel, you can get a good workout here. And the indoor pool/sauna is delightful. We spent a few hours here relaxing (and inclusive of hotel price). However,i would also say the location is not ideal for us. We only had 3 days and most of the attractions are located and tours in the old town which was 15-20min walk away, so as we spent a lot of time there with rests in between day and night, we spent a lot of time walking back and forth which became tedious after a few days. When I come back to SS i would likely find a hotel closer to the old town. This is just my recommendation though.

I’d personally recommend this amazing hotel for anyone that’s visiting San Sebastian. The location of the hotel is amazing since it’s very close to the beach, and to the centre. The staff are very pleasant, young and very friendly personnel, they took their time to explain some places to see and how to get there. I also have to say the rooms are big, very clean and modern! We also had breakfast and due to the Covid situation there isn’t a buffet however you order a la carte and the food was very nice. I hadn’t been in Spain for a while, as I live in Dubai now and I have to say that it felt so nice to go back and be able to stay at such a cozy yet modern hotel! It has recently been renovated and the job put in is so worthy. In a overall of this hotel I have to say I was very pleased with every detail and all the effort the staff has provided to us during our stay! Also, don’t forget to visit the rooftop if you’re staying at this beautiful hotel because the views are purely amazing, they also have a chill out area there. Definitely coming back when I have the opportunity

The hotel is in a good location, a little far from the sea, a 20-minute walk, San Sebastian is a small city, and you can walk anywhere. The city is clean and the food is rich. If you eat more dinner at eight in the evening, you can find a restaurant with a lot of people, no matter the size, luxurious decoration or not, it's not wrong. Breakfast is average and full, there is no special recommendation. Children can be brought, but children over three years old will be charged extra, regardless of whether an extra bed is added.

unfortunately the room was not so clean on arrival, we found dark hair in the bathroom and a soft drink bottle with cigarette stubs on the balcony. the room had a whirlpool, however, the hotel staff explaining how it works only spoke local languages. we decided to have breakfast outside the hotel as it was extremely expensive. The hotel is the only 5 star that we found directly at the beach. Parking was very well organised and directly in front of the hotel, the beds were good and so was the shower and bathroom facilities. Next time we would look for a hotel with better value for money.

Quick Notes: Great Value The beach is a 7-10 minute walk Lots of close restaurants and bars The more quiet side of San Sebastián Outstanding Front Desk What a splendid hotel! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this NH, which felt like a perfect place to retire for the evening after a long day on the beach. My room was modern and spacious - and the room service was phenomenal. The front desk staff was particularly helpful whenever I had questions or needed help with something. This NH might also have one of best burgers in Spain. The restaurant downstairs was also phenomenal, and the cocktails were on point.

Positive - The staff worked very hard to engage and make your stay pleasant. Helpful and responsive to feedback. Negatives - Location is odd. While walkable to the main attractions, it can be quite a walk and if the weather was bad too long. There are taxis and you could learn the bus system but its a long 20 minutes vs a short 20 minutes. Mattress uncomfortably hard. Bathroom has all sorts of design flaws that lead to wet counters and sinks that don’t really drain. If the key isnt in the slot there is no water. The worst part. Each evening my room smelled of stale tobacco. Not sure if wafting in from outside smokers, apartment building next door, or the aircon venting system but each night I fell asleep to stale smoke. Cool enough to open windows but then you hear noise and get smoke. By morning it wasnt there or during the day so I suspect the source is real and not my imagination. As far as roof deck, I had forgotten it existed. I did not see signs in room or elevator or comments from staff encouraging use so forgot. Maybe it would have been pleasant? I was on 4th floor and my view was the apartment building next door. Breakfast was OK and there is also a little a la cart coffee bar with breakfast sandwiches if you prefer to skip the buffet. If I visit again I would pay more to stay closer to old town or Gros. Didnt find the hotel comfortable or well situated. The staff do make an effort and I give 3 stars for that.

San Sebastián is a great place and Zenit Convento hotel is conveniently located, minutes away from the beach and old town. The facilities in the room are good and the decor neutral and modern. The room we were given (1st floor) looked out onto residential apartment blocks. When we checked in, we were not informed that noisy building work to these properties would be going on during our stay. (I attach views from our room) We did mention this to reception and they apologised. Had I known about either of these I would have requested a room facing away from this awful outlook. We chose Zenit Convento because it had the benefit of a rooftop pool. The pool was closed for the whole week of our stay. The notice stated they were carrying out tests. This too was discussed with reception and they said they were sorry but in fact it didn’t open until the end of June. I cannot find anywhere on their website where this is mentioned and we found this to be misleading and frustrating. Breakfast was a chaotic experience from the very first morning. The table we were given on our first day was missing cutlery and butter. Staff were often not around or too busy to respond to requests or rectify mistakes. I ordered an omelette but was given scrambled egg. I asked for this to be changed. They took it away and then came back with the same plate and told me this was an omelette. Trying to explain that it wasn’t to someone who spoke limited English was difficult. Subsequent days were similar, long waits to get table service, items missing from the table. It was only on day 3 that we realised that a menu in English was available. No one had bothered to offer this to us. As a consequence, despite already having paid to have breakfast included, we decided on our last 2 days to have breakfast in the Taberna Blas opposite the hotel. The evening opening times for the bar are not clear. Sometimes it would still be open beyond 11pm sometimes it would not.
