We booked the deluxe sea facing rooms. Rooms are spacious. Has balcony overlooking the sea. Spotless rooms and bathrooms. Very well maintained huge property. Calm and peaceful surroundings. Warm and proactive front desk staff especially Manju, Deba and Nisha. Made our check in seamless. The Housekeeping staff does a wonderful job of keeping the rooms, bathrooms and lobby so clean. Good food be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. The buffet breakfast and dinner has a good spread with many options. Pleased with the hardworking and forever warm and smiling staff especially Sujata, Basanta and the rest (sorry forgot the names). Thanks to Mr. Nur, Mr. Abhijeet, Manoj, Sanjay and the entire F&B team for making our experience so memorable

The hotel is centrally located, about 900 metres from the beach. My room is facing the street, so it is noisy and some affects the rest. In fact, it will not be quiet without facing the street. The room was clean and the sheets were a bit old. The morning buffet is good and there are not many people. There are two points to note that the hotel cannot use international credit cards, so if foreigners spend at the hotel, they can only pay cash at checkout. Second, the check-out time required by the hotel is 8:00 in the morning. If you need to extend the check-out, you will have to pay. It is not expensive, tens of yuan per hour, 8 o'clock check out is a common practice in the local area. In short, in Puri, the requirements for the hotel are not too high, and the hotel in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, will not work. This hotel is okay.

Gopabandhu Mishra: One of the best front office executives we have ever met in our life while travelling to various parts of India. Gopabandhu (Gopi) with his ever-smiling face will definitely make you feel at home when you walk into the hotel for the first time. Probably this young hotel management graduate is currently the best asset possessed by Hotel Golden Tree, Puri. Outstanding service: The in-house service of Hotel Golden Tree, Puri can be best described with only one English word – OUTSTANDING. Lovely ambience: With a very large reception area consisting of soft & comfortable sofas and centralized air conditioning system, Hotel Golden Tree, Puri has a spacious lounge where easily 20 guests can wait and sit during check-in and check-out ***** with their luggage. Yes, this hotel still has a fully working hands-free sanitizing system installed right next to the main entrance door. Delicious food: The in-house well decorated, clean and air-conditioned restaurant offers a wide spectrum of delicious food items from across the country both during the complimentary buffet breakfast (worth mentioning that the buffet breakfast has a well thought of cyclic menu for different days of the week) as well as during the other time of the day. The quantity of food per portion in the à la carte menu needs to be increased by at least 30% so as to match up with the high price tag, which, we’re sure the hotel authority will make a note of this point after reading this review. We had opted for suite 407 as it was sea facing and just right for our group of three adults and a kid but there was a stink of sewage in the entire suite. As the smell was not coming from the bathroom but from the AC vent, it seems that the drainage and AC duct are interconnected somewhere. Despite multiple requests we were not provided an alternate room on the first night and had to stay in that unbearable stench. We were even okay with moving to a double room with an extra bed but the hotel refused to accommodate us and finally gave us a side view three bed family room on the second day, and even had the gall to say that they were providing an upgrade, simply because this room could accommodate six people. Initially they were also not willing to give any other concession despite our having to move from a costly sea facing suite to a large non sea facing room (that we didn't need). Eventually the hotel did give us a discount, but it was only after a major altercation with the duty manager Mr. Mishra at the front desk. At all times he made us feel that they were doing us a favour by changing our room even though their own housekeeping staff had come and confirmed the stench (and pleaded helplessness to do anything about it). It seemed to us that the hotel had sold us the room despite knowing that there was a problem with it (it was not available initially on their website when we were looking to book but was made available for us after we had called them). This lack of honesty and the abrasive behaviour from the manager Mr. Mishra really left a bad taste in the mouth. Apart from this incident and the fact that for a three star hotel prices were almost equivalent to five star hotel prices, the hotel also has other disadvantages: 1. No direct access to the beach - you have to take daily (free) tickets from the front desk and go through the adjacent OTDC Panthaniwas property 2. Prices of some menu items especially the tandoori pomfret are a bit on the higher side for the location 3. There is limited parking within the hotel compound and most people had to park in a no parking zone in the street outside. The limited parking inside the hotel can at the most accommodate six cars. In terms of positives, their restaurant is nice and their food is in general good. Also, apart from the manager Mr. Mishra everyone else was nice and cooperative. Room sizes are decent and they are well kitted and sea facing rooms have a good view.

We booked our hotel at Puri on MakeMyTrip online. Our room was a Family Suite Four-Bed room on the first floor, which is accessible by lift. The first appearance of the room was clean and spacious, having an aesthetic appeal. The furniture, although old, was well maintained and free from any bugs. Hotel Pushpa is within walking distance from the sea beach, and many good Bengali restaurants are nearby. The TV, AC, geyser, and mini fridge in our room were all in working condition. Although the room has two windows, it was difficult to open them. As such, the room is not well ventilated; you need to keep the AC on to avoid suffocation. The washroom was decent, but need to be careful when working with soap and water on the slippery tiles fitted in the bathroom. The entire stay was without any external disturbances. The puja panda in the hotel is very helpful, and his service was beyond my expectations. The driver provided for our tour package was very friendly, and he made all adjustments to suit our customized requirements. The behavior of the hotel staff was friendly and professional, and they attended to all our requests without any delay. Overall, a pleasant stay at Hotel Pushpa, Puri, and a recommended family hotel in Puri.
