We were very pleased with the central location, modern amenities and gracious staff at The Monument Hotel. Situated within an easy walk to some of Gaudi’s most impressive buildings, fine shopping and dining with its own Michelin restaurant on premises, there wasn’t much to be desired in this boutique hotel, save for some minor details. In our case, although we arrived on an early flight and we’re aware check in was not until 3 as we’d been informed when I placed my reservation noting our arrival time - and the concierge agreeably stored our luggage as we took in local sights - we were notified while having lunch a room with a better view would not be available until 5 pm. We decided to wait for that option and made use of the rooftop pool lounges for a late afternoon siesta. Shortly after 5, I went to reception and was informed the room was ready. While adequate in terms of space - with a small sitting area adjacent to the sleeping area - I can’t say there was a view per se as it basically looked over rooftops, perhaps what could be devastating a small courtyard. The bat was actually quite large in comparison but for some reason of design I don’t understand there was a step to the commode area - causing some stumbles during the middle of the night until we were properly acclimated. As I like to tune into the news in the morning while dressing, I mentioned the TV remote in the bed area was not working, however, this was not addressed during our stay. Relatively minor issues all in all in an otherwise comfortable and safe 3 day stay.

Let me start by saying that we loved our stay at the Monument. The highlight was how excellent the service was from waitstaff at breakfast to the front desk and doormen. The concierge team was extremely top notch, Marta, Juan and especially Xavier, a true gem. Location was perfect for our 10 days of city adventures and a respite from the crowds that were at most of the sights. The food at the Glass restaurant was very good. We had lunch, dinner, drinks and a few small bites and everything we ordered was delicious. We passed on eating at Oria and Lesarte only because the menus didn’t really work for us this time. Our comment regarding room 508 is in the early mornings we could hear tables (?) being dragged around above us. I’m assuming that was the restaurant staff moving things around to start the day. We would absolutely return to the Monument on our next visit to Barcelona and will be recommending you to all of our traveling friends.
