We have just returned from Alghero and highly recommend this hotel. The staff and facilities are excellent. The breakfast is fantastic, the rooms are clean and very comfortable and the staff are so lovely. We had an early flight and they offered to make a picnic breakfast for us as the breakfast room wasn’t open at our time of departure. It is only a ten minute stroll via gorgeous scenery into town as well, and there is a shuttle bus if the heat is too much. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Calabona to anyone. Bonus points for the tester sprays of fabulous Sardinian perfume in the lobby😁
Great location and offers free shuttle to town. Breakfast is excellent. However they charge you 15€ for parking per day on premises and 3€ for use of towels at the pool. Should be free since this is a category 4 star hotel.

My husband & I spent 2 weeks at this hotel on bed & breakfast basis. Here is what we think. Hope you find it useful PROS - 2 lovely pools plenty of beds Nice beach, again, plenty of beds/brollies. We preferred to use the grassy area behind the beach which also has plenty of beds etc. Shallow water at beach - so good for kids Gardens are beautiful and well maintained. Location is nice ( see cons re flight path! ) and the views on a sunny day are gorgeous. Our room was adequate and serviced well. Lots of storage space. Although the website says they don't turn on Aircon until end June, they do turn it on if asked. They also provided us with a kettle in our room when asked, though tea/coffee/milk had to be bought at the local shop. Best WiFi we have ever experienced in a hotel anywhere. Strong in the garden/pool area too. Pool/beach staff attentive. All bar staff were good. A special mention for the only member of the restaurant staff who made a positive difference to our breakfast experience - Rafaella, thankyou. You are a star. Breakfast was ok on the whole but would benefit from an omelette station in order to have something hot to eat ( their 'hot' selection is lukewarm at best and by the time you get it to your table, it's cold. CONS - The sunbeds are very hard and have the choice of just one angle .. or flat.! We know these beds can come with a cushion as they are the same as the ones at Bombarde beach and they had cushions! I used my flight neck pillow a lot You are on the direct flight path for Alghero airport and the local military training airport which are less than 4 miles away so that should tell you how low they come over the hotel. Our bed in our room was so hard ( I appreciate that this may be a pro for some ) We asked for mattress toppers and these were provided which helped a little. The shower cubicle was very small and the water pressure is dismal. The drain in there was covered by a loose tile, and trying to shower whilst avoiding this obstacle required some skill. When it rained the roof above our room was extremely noisy. All in all I think we paid a lot of money for what we got. 4 star in Italy may be different to elsewhere maybe?

Hi everyone, Still here till 7th of August 2024 Just would like to add a bit of extra to what already posted. I would rate this hotel is 3 stars maximum, only because we traveled alot and experienced something way more different for a same cost; however it is a small quiet hotel , pleasant territory and professional staff ( most of them) . Sea shore is enriched with sulphur clay mix of other minerals and sea ****, supposed to be very good for your skin and health but explains the stinky smell most of other visitors disliking. Rooms are very basic ( it is fine with us, we only need a comfy bed and a functional bathroom) ; with old central condition system , going no colder then +25 C presumably ( maybe optimal for a hot climate ) but it is still not up to our standards. Breakfasts are all the same every day, very poor choice for vegans & vegetarians . No fish , no olives, no basic fruits such as bananas or apples , only pineapple& orange & kiwi. A bit disappointing really. On a positive side is a gorgeous town nearby- Aghliero only 10min drive by car or by bus. Offering you a great choice of shopping and dining experience. To totalise everything from above this hotel is Ok but not Wow , great if you can get a good deal price then it’s worth visiting. I wish head manager reads all those reviews and improve things or at list try and visit some other hotels **** for more practical experiences. Happy holidays everyone

This is simply a lovely hotel. It really has a traditional old Europe feel about it - full of antiques and charm. There is a resident cat and a couple of dogs. The staff really feels like a big family and were so helpful to us throughout or 5 day stay. They really go out of their way to make people comfortable and welcome. The hotel is a wonderful stroll along the water into downtown historic Alghero and we so enjoyed meandering in at night for dinner where we were not dining at the hotel. We chose a sea view room which is a must! The classical Suite Vista Mare was just lovely. Showers were a bit small but we had two bathrooms which was kind of fun so I spread out all over mine and left the other to my husband. Lots of closet space and beautiful bed. The pool is just perfect and you are steps from the sea if you wish to take a dip there as well. The spa looked nice but we just didn't have time to try it. Breakfast is excellent and very copious. We really enjoyed having it on the terrace overlooking the sea. Dinner at the hotel was excellent as well.

We were fortunate to stay at this historic hotel located on a secure peninsula jutting into the emerald sapphire waters of the Mediterranean. The peaceful, lovely rooms had amazing views; the gardens were tranquil; the gym/spa were modern with all the necessary equipment for a good workout; the delicious food and wine of Sardinia was served in a spectacular setting; the service was excellent by attentive staff; and we were greeted daily with a big smile by the most elegant owner who dressed impeccably in the highest fashion. Also, it’s only a short 10 minute walk to the fascinating medieval old town of Alghero. Thank you for the wonderful memories and we hope to return next year.

We stayed at Carlos V again this year, just like last year. What made us really happy was that Daniela from the restaurant, the reception staff, and even the cleanup lady remembered us. (The cleanup lady even remembered which floor we stayed on last year!) Once again, we had a wonderful summer vacation here. To start, at reception, we were upgraded from a garden view room to a sea view room. The view was absolutely stunning! The restaurant staff were very kind, and we were glad we chose the half-board option. We also enjoyed using the pool bar. Although we saw a few negative reviews, after seeing how hard the staff work in such hot and busy conditions, I can’t bring myself to say anything negative. Thank you again for another fantastic summer. We truly had a great time!
The general stay was satisfactory, I have some points that your gm should look into. 1) service at the pool terrace, terrible to say the least, 20 mins waiting to be served, happened on three occasions. The waiters simply look and ignore you. 2) gym is not opened in the morning, no towels and no water present at the gym. 3) rooms and cleaning service where very good 4) pool area, deck chairs and gazebo style beds are simply occupied by towels for hours, when I asked the person in charge he told me that as long as there is a towel even though no one is using them they are occupied. I’m sorry to say but this is sheer stupidity and a very bad way to manage the pool area, you should take action on the matter as it’s very irritating seeing deck chairs empty for hours and can’t be used because the guest simply left the used towel on them. 5) the positioning of the toilet is really upsetting, one has to slide under the sink to properly use the toilet. The layout designer must have been drinking when he did the works.

Reviews From Real Travelers
For the seasonal traveler, one will not find much wrong but for the avid luxury, yet cost-conscious traveler, and Italy aficionado..… there is room for improvement. The hotel has clean decent rooms but suffers from its remote location. You will be happy if you like a quiet remote location in the middle of a beautiful nature with nothing 15mn away. It is 1:45mn away from Olbi airport and 45mn away from Algheri airport. No shops, no stores, not much entertainment on the premises (jet ski, games, kids club, diverse restaurant menus and bar...) and if you enquire about the surroundings, you may not get much information. The expensive room rates do not justify the too basic room cosmetic amenities (is there no young regional person making natural local cosmetics the hotel could promote so customers could discover and maybe sponsor?), the bathroom toilet bin lid was malfunctioning and never replaced, the shower head orientation made it impossible not to soak the entire bathroom shelves and floor not matter where it was positioned, the hotel lacked concierge services and the reception staff was inexperienced in terms of checkin (unable to multitask and asking several times the same questions to clients during a single consult which would take at least 10 mn per customer for basic requests like the checkin, a taxi reservation, a restaurant or beach recommandation… ( this is unacceptable during daytime or high traffic times). The staff (3 people at the desk) had extremely limited knowledge of local restaurants, beach local activities, shuttle and bus routes and schedules… the gift shop is very limited considering how remote the place is. And again forget local souvenirs…
The location is great with a private beach if you go down the stairs. Despite the high season, it was a moderately small hotel, so it was good to have a private feeling. Unfortunately, only meals were available, the breakfast buffet was small, and dinner was normal and not particularly delicious.

I just got back from Hotel Corte Rosada Resort & Spa, and it was amazing! The views are gorgeous, and it’s a great spot to chill and watch the sunsets. The staff are super friendly and always ready to help. The pools and spa are fantastic, and dining was a highlight especially the delicious menu at the beachside restaurant. If you want to explore, there’s a cute taverna called Il Galeone nearby, and Bell Agio is a great waterside spot. Getting to Alghero is easy with the bus stop right outside. Overall, the resort was perfect for a relaxing vacation. Definitely recommend it!
We had a wonderful and very relaxing stay at the Hotel. The location is amazing and the fact that the pool had salty water and the beach had access right in front of the hotel made us not want to leave the Hotel. This combined with an adults only but tranquil environment made this stay unforgettable. Furthermore all staff has been very polite and professional . Location is great with many beautiful beaches nearby and very near Alghero old town

We were impressed by the cleanliness of the rooms and the very helpful and friendly staff. This hotel is right on the seafront opposite a lovely beach of white sand. It takes 20 minutes to walk to the old town along a lovely wide promenade. The hotel rooms have basic furniture, air conditioning, quite firm beds, fridge, safe and TV. We were on the 4th floor with lovely views of the sea from the balcony. The bathroom had a shower, toilet. Sink and bidet. Also a hairdryer and a bottle of shower shampoo and a small bar of soap. Breakfast was the usual offering of eggs, bacon, cheese, ham, cereal, fruit, yogurt etc and a selection of cakes. There are two machines for hot drinks but the staff will make fresh hot drinks if asked. There is a nice swimming pool, not heated. The restaurant is also open to the public for lunch and evening meals. We enjoyed our stay.

We have just checked out a day early from hotel Alma. I truly don’t mean this to be a scathing review, just a completely transparent one. I do also want to start by saying much as this hotel disappointed us, the staff were absolutely brilliant. Everyone we spoke to was helpful and friendly. This hotel looked amazing online so we booked. We paid extra for a Deluxe double with sea view. When we arrived, our initial impression was disappointing. The hotel is down a dark alley, and the bar in the reception area is tiny. We were informed there is no restaurant here (to be fair we should have checked online first, we just assumed there would be a restaurant on site). We got to the Room, the whole room smelled stale and the bedding absolutely stank of mildew and mould. It was dark and raining when we arrived so we thought perhaps we were being unfair and said we should give it another chance in the morning when it was bright. We stayed in room 401, which was on the same floor as the breakfast room. From 7am, we heard every guest in the hotel walk up and down for their breakfast. The room had a balcony but the door was jammed. We also didn’t realise the hotel faced a busy road so we heard noise from traffic all night. The decor in the room was tired and dated, the curtains in the room were covered in holes from general wear and tear. There was only a thin sheet on the bed, there was a duvet without a cover in the wardrobe but this smelled like it had not been washed from the previous guests. The hair dryer in the room is one of those ancient ones that kept overheating and only worked for 30 second intervals at a time. We tried to go for breakfast on 3 different occasions. We could not get a table the first 2 so had to keep going back to check for a table. When we did get a table the choice was very limited. Flies were landing over the uncovered food, dairy products were left sitting out unrefrigerated and the toaster didn’t work. The hot food options consisted of undercooked scrambled egg, dry bacon, baked beans and chopped up sausage. The bread that was out was stale. The hotel advertised an outdoor rooftop pool which looked amazing in Photos. In reality this pool was a massive let down. The pool itself is small and does not have a bar area - seriously? Why would a rooftop pool in a holiday destination not have a bar? Again, maybe our fault for not checking this first but it would be safe to assume there would be a bar. Also because of the storm the day before and the pool being uncovered the water was filthy and full of debris. The hotel had parking but charged €15 a day for the parking which is a bit steep. I understand this hotel may be ideal for some people, but this was our honest opinion. The hotel has so much potential but is just massively oversold and overpriced in our opinion. The photos are completely misleading and the property looks nothing like the photos. It is also around a 25 minute walk to Alghero old town. We wouldn’t Recomme

This is a corporate feeling hotel that caters to groups and conferences. The rooms are okay and functional but a few problems cause me to recommend other stays. Most importantly, the attitude of the restaurant staff is nasty. They wouldn’t let me in a few minutes ahead of opening when I just wanted to see the sunrise view from the restaurant terrace. Then, they were upset that my sister in law asked for a coffee after she had tea. Most disappointing, they wouldn’t prepare a simple omelette for my daughter who is Crohn’s and avoiding oil and butter. The server said we should have scrambled eggs or a fried egg from the buffet (which was really basic). I can’t recall the last time I stayed at a high star hotel that wouldn’t make an omelette. But the view from the terrace is wonderful. The 2 elevators are insufficient for this hotel so prepare to wait several minutes for your ride but this is the least of my issues. A smile and pleasant service at the breakfast terrace would’ve made all else much better at the hotel. Oh… the location is excellent.

We stayed 4 nights and the only two positive notes of the hotel are the central and very convenient location and the very courteous staff. From the photos I had very high expectations which were completely disappointed. We were assigned a room with a window that overlooked an extra wall covered by scaffolding which made it very dark. The furnishings leave much to be desired as they are dated and an unpleasant smell inside the room. On the second day we used the room cleaning service and the bubble bath was not replaced. For what we paid I expected a lot more considering that breakfast was not included in the price either.

A wonderful hotel with a beautiful sea view, access to the beach (best if you bring swimming shoes) & promenade, a very nice courtyard with flowers and a seating area to enjoy your mornings/evenings. All the staff are so attentive and did their u**ost to make our stay exceptional and unforgettable! The reception, restaurant and housekeeping teams all make you feel at home like family! Male.

We stayed the the Hotel Donomea for Three Nights and what a wonderful experience, from the Reception Staff to the Breakfast Staff and Cleaners it was First Class. The room was spacious and comfortable with a big bed and a safe and tea making facilities, the Bathroom was really nice with Double Sinks and a Walk in Shower which I love as it's so much safer then an overbath Shower,Breakfast was good with a wide variety for every taste, both hot and cold,it was a ten minute walk to the Old Town and around Fifteen to the Port which is full of fabulous Restaurants.I would highly recommend Latino Restaurant/Bar for good food and drinks at very reasonable prices and excellent customer service and overlooking the beautiful Port, the building is also steeped in History, stay away from Kings Restaurant as it is very expensive and the food is very mediocre, we were shocked at the price. There is a lovely Pizzeria as you turn left out of Hotel across the road, also very good food and very good value,in actual fact there are lots of restaurants in the vicinity of the Hotel. The rooftop pool area is not great and very overlooked but we were not there for sunbathing. We loved Alghero and would definitely stay at Hotel Donomea on our next visit. Thank You Hotel Domomea..

The camping is in a nice remote location. It is really quiet and far from any city. If you want to go to Alghero, you can use the BeachBus which takes around 45-50 minutes to go downtown. The camping also provides a shuttle service from/to the airport (30 euros for 4 people, 45 for 7). But being remote also has some downsides. If you are without a car, you are limited to what you find in the camping. The breakfast is not well furnished. If you have half-/full-board, you get a fruit juice, a hot beverage, a very sugary pastry and 2 biscotti with marmalade. No fresh bread or cheese. You can buy some in the store, but as they know that buying here is because you cannot buy elsewhere, prices are really high. The restaurant (not a pizzeria) is also not doing its full best. First the schedule for full-board people is tight and you have to come between 12h30 and 13h30 for lunch, and between 19h30 and 20h30 for diner. So this was not ideal as we had to be ready to eat with the kids at precise time and we could not decide to come later to enjoy the sunset or do something else before eating. And the schedule is on the paper, but they usually opened 15min later. Some dishes are very good, others are just re-heated food (sometimes not even enough heated). Serving people are really friendly, be it in the restaurant or for kid’s activities. But people at the main entrance are not that friendly. We even did not get all the information when we first arrived. We had to go to some desk, which was not open so we had to come again later. And even there the information was not complete… We also arrived once with the bus from the city, arms full of our shopping, and the kids got asleep in the bus. We kindly ask them to help us with their little car to bring the kids and/or our shopping but they said that their little car was only for taking care of newcomers… About swimming: there is a swimming pool, bare minimum (no slide, no jumping platform), but swimming caps are mandatory… Who is still doing this in 2022? Hopefully you can go down to the beach in 5min walk so we enjoyed the beach a lot. Nice sand, large, quiet water with little waves, beautiful water with a lot of fishes, sea stars, octopuses and so on. There also are a lot of sea urchin so take some water shoes with you because you could easily step on one. At the beach there is a bar serving beverages and ice creams. But neither in the beach bar, nor in the camping bar could we find some real Italian gelati (ice creams). This was a big disappointment to only get these industrial ice creams when you are in the country of house-made ice creams…

We have just come back from a week here. The room and all hotels area were always clean. The rooms are basic but are quite spacious. After one bad night due to the mattress I put a blanket down on the bed and the next day the housekeeper had put a mattress topper on the bed for us. It is located near bus stop into Alghero and the beach bus to beaches up the coast. All the staff were really friendly and most of them spoke english. My husband has coeliac disease, each morning at breakfast he was given a basket with gluten free cereal, bread, biscuits and offered croissants which were heated in the oven. At dinner the staff showed him what he could have and then gave him the option of having fresh gluten free pasta cooked so he could have the pasta dish. They also cooked meat separately if the sauce wasn't gluten free. We want to say a special thank you to Roberta and all the staff in the restaurant and kitchen for looking after him so well. We really appreciated the time Roberta spent with him each evening and translating to the other staff. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel and returning if we can.
