We had a lovey visit at Charles Hope apartment in Plymouth. Immaculate accommodation, really comfy bed and very quiet. Walkable to Plymouth Hoe and Barbican. problem with door entry on return in the evening which was a little worrying. Also, do not arrive for check in before 3pm. We were there at five minutes to three but could not get in. Would stay again and highly recommend.

The Hotel itself is an imposing building, so we had high hopes for our 3 night stay. Reception and check in went smoothly with the offer of a much welcome peach lemonade while we waited. Our 4-poster room was on the second floor of the main house. I had to ask for help with our bags. In a 5 star hotel this service should be standard practice. We asked to use the EV charging point, and were told to download an App and then follow the instructions on the charging unit. Unfortunately we could not get the system to work, so after trying several times, we asked for a member of staff to come out and assist us. Rather grudgingly a staff member did come out but was unable to sort the issue. We were told to ”try again later”. Just as well we have a hybrid vehicle, or we would have been in real trouble. We dined in The Mayflower restaurant. The room, staff and ambience was very pleasant. However, while the presentation of the food was lovely, we both felt the dishes lacked flavour. It was all rather underwhelming. Sadly, things did not improve for breakfast. While staff are polite, service is extremely slow. On two mornings we waited 20 minutes for our tea and juices to be brought to the table. On our second morning we had to return both our breakfasts. Yes, this was dealt with efficiently but dishes should be checked before leaving the kitchen. Similarly, if toast is ordered, then please don't serve warm bread! Thankfully, our final breakfast was much improved. We did not use the Spa facilities as it always seemed so busy. Our room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The addition of fresh milk in the fridge is a bonus. We did enjoy our break but left feeling somewhat cheated. It is an expensive place to stay and eat, so should deliver high standards on all levels. This was a special birthday treat, but sadly it did not live up to expectations.

We stayed here 2 nights and were really impressed by this hotel, it really has everything you need, safe, mini-fridge, kettle with tea, coffee, milk and biscuits, hair-dryer, ironing board/iron, bath and shower, nice toiletries, nice towels, lovely big bed, great bed linen, kept at a nice warm temperature, it really is hard to fault this hotel in any way. Breakfast was included and was up in the penthouse with amazing panoramic views of Plymouth, breakfast itself was probably one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had with a huge choice of hot and cold dishes, including vegetarian options. Most options were self service but there was also a menu of dishes cooked to order such as Eggs Benedict, poached eggs and salmon etc. Hotel itself was a hive of activity in the bar and restaurant on the ground floor but nice and peaceful and quiet up on our floor. One of the lifts was out of action when we were there which caused a bit of congestion and long waits with just the one lift working. Reception was friendly and efficient, we would definitely come here again, the attention to detail and affordable prices make it a really great stay. There are also other facilites here like a pool and sauna however unfortunately we didn’t have the time to use these.

Just got back from another great stay at the China Fleet Club. My family and I have stayed here on many occasions and I can honestly say we have never had any reason to complain at any time. Accommodation is clean and safe Grounds are great for walking or a round of golf Plenty of things to do with the kids Pool and spa great, especially the spa for the adults Never used the bar bar and restaurant on this occasion but we have in the past and always food very nice and good value for money. We will be back in the near future.

Wonderful apartment with great location right at the sea. In an old renovated Proviant magazine with many restaurants around the corner. However, the bathroom would be somewhat to renovate.
