Reviews From Real Travelers
We just spend a week at the resort and it was an amazing time. We went for the beach and the relaxation and it did not disappoint. While it's not a beach to take long walks on (or even short ones), it is beautiful and the ocean is amazing. In speaking with some of the managers there, they noted how the owners want the beach to be a place just to relax - so there are no activities such as jet skis out in the ocean or even paddle boards. We certainly appreciated that. We stayed in a one room villa and it was very nice and well appointed and the outside private pool (more than a plunge pool) was amazing. The three restaurants on site were very good for dinner and lunch at the beach is standard beach fare amped up just a little. The staff works hard and it shows. Special call outs to Wilson at the beach who always made sure our Presidente was very cold and for bringing great energy to his job. And to Daniel at breakfast who made every morning that much better. Lena in the spa gave a great massage. If you're looking for a higher-end resort to just unwind and relax this is a great place.
Well it started off fine but to say that it continued as such would be a gross fabrication. The first day our ocean front suite had a massive ceiling leak in the AC condensate drain lines. Being tin the construction and development business I know what it was and this is and should always be a routine maintenace chance whether in a hotel or rental apartment building which they never checked so it poured water down into the suite. Then to top it off there was not hot water. So they moved us to what’s they tried to say was an upgraded private bungalow. It was nothing more than a thatched roof shack away from our 30 member family vacation. And then gave us a golf cart where the front axle was falling off. Then to add insult to injury we went for a mediocre dinner only to return to a “SHACK” where the lights would not turn off to go to sleep and kept flashing on and off all night so to say we never slept was a harsh reality. They finally fixed our original suite and we moved now for the second time back. Did they offer us any compensation for this disaster??? NO>>>> they simply credited us the first nights stay, REALY????? For an alleged 5 star resort they need to lear more about customer satisfaction and doing the right thing. Well to understand we spent a small fortune eating all meals there at the hotel tipping generously, but yet they had one more almost tragic event in store for us. While they asked us all if we have any food allergies which some did, my nephew specifically filled out a form in advance telling them that he had a severe NUT allergy. So when he went to get some chocolate ice cream by the pool he even went one step further since his wife is a medical doctor, to ask again if the ice cream had any nuts they in front of witnesses said NO!!!! Well guess what it did and went into a sever allergic reaction which his medical doctor luckily carries epinephrine with her for him. So after the treatment and a few hours of recovery he was back among us. All in all there is a St Regis being built next door and i can only hope that it is of higher quality and more customer concern as this hotel I will never return to ever. By the way it is unfortunate since its. A nice setting but the hotel is howling its age and there is deferred maintenace everywhere including the steel support beams for the balconies that appear to be delaminating. They need to shut it down and rehab it.

I love the idea of a suite, and this hotel has the best suites with real doors to close off the bedroom so one person can sleep while the other watches TV. There is s mini kitchenette with a small fridge, a sink, and a microwave and coffee maker that makes hot water, too. There was a nice walk in shower in a big bathroom. Housekeeping is hit or miss as it is in all hotels around the country. You have to ask! Breakfast was a treat at the omelet station on the first floor. Now, we'll be looking for Embassy suites whenever we travel.

Most of the waiters can’t communicate well in English, causing many things to go wrong. The restaurant requires an appointment except for the two buffets. The food in the international restaurant is very dirty. My friend ordered an appetizer. There were more than 10 bugs on the table. The scene of climbing out of the food is shocking and the restaurant is very inefficient but the hotel is well located. A taxi from Punta Cana Airport is 30 dollars, downtown is 10 dollars, and Blue mall is 25 dollars.

The room is newly renovated! But the design is not novel! Front desk service is average! The restaurant is not bad in the all-inclusive! The pool is good 👍! The sea view room is a bit far away! There are trees on the lower floors that are not recommended!

My husband and I visited this resort for our 8th anniversary. We booked an ocean view Castle Junior Suite. Upon arrival, we had a piece of Black Forest cake, Dominican Cacao, and bottle of Mamajuana waiting in our room to celebrate. Our butler was Eric, and he was the BEST! He took us on a tour of the resort, and alerted us daily of activities and restaurant selections available. He was available via What’s App for any concerns or questions we had. As stated in other reviews, the beach is not clear blue water, but we knew that going in. I grew up going to “dirty Myrtle” so it wasn’t an issue for me. The seaweed is better on some days than others, but they have a crew that works their tails off raking the beach and trying to contain it. I also suggest water shoes and small steps because upon entry there are some large rocks and dips, but once you get out a bit, it is no longer an issue. The pool areas are great, and there are several to choose from. Someone was always willing to grab your towels and get you set up in a nice spot. Drink service was on point, we never had to wait long between rounds. Although tips are “included”, I would suggest bringing a little extra for that. I saw how hard the employees work, most in long pants in incredible heat and humidity. I would rate the restaurants 4/5. The first night at Blue Marlin was not good. I think our order was lost in translation. I put that on myself, for visiting a country where I don’t speak the language. I could have used Google translate. I would suggest that if it seems you are not being understood. I won’t name the waiter because again, that’s on me. In contrast, Bladimir and Danny as servers at the Steakhouse were great. That was our favorite restaurant so we ate there twice. We also had a nice dinner at Capriccio. The Casabella lunch buffet had a nice daily lunch selection, and you can also visit the smaller restaurants in Sanctuary Town, a small area across from the main hotel which has pizza, sushi, beer, and ice cream/sweets. The Wok was closed on our visit so we did not get to try that. Overall, there is a large selection to choose from and room service is available 24 hours with a $10 service fee. We enjoyed our first stay in DR, and would definitely consider rebooking this resort on a return trip.
We went for six days and five nights and had the most amazing time. We booked a terrace suite room and got upgraded to the oceanfront villa. Our Butler Eric was amazing and we never went without. He is top-notch and fantastic and made our trip. Nancy, the housekeeper attendant was phenomenal. Very personal spoke to us every day. I made sure that we had everything we needed! Staff throughout the property was amazing. Juan Alberto was especially sweet with our children and very attentive our needs. So was Yaniris and chef Jonathan. My husband is a Marriott titanium member and we will definitely be back to this property again.

A group of 7 stayed here. There were some great things about this resort and some not so great things. Great Things: The bartenders were all great, especially Angel and Alexis. The buffet restaurant staff, specifically Maria, she is simply the best. The pool area and lobby are both very nice, the nightly entertainment was also a lot of fun. The sand on the beach is fantastic, it’s like sugar and the water is warm but still refreshing, we even saw a few small sea turtles while swimming. The Not So Great: Some of our rooms. We all stayed in the Premium Level Oceanfront, some rooms were better than others. My particular room had a few issues, a very musty odor and a walk in shower with no door that caused the bathroom floor to get covered in water whenever someone showered. We voiced our concern but nothing was ever done. The rooms need to be updated.
The resort itself was amazing from beginning to end. The food, the beach, the pool, the drinks, the ambience. The staff was amazing and treated us like friends. Would definitely recommend it and im going back soon.

Other than our butler which was very nice and helpful after the fact we had to spend an extra 4500$ to upgrade to diamond package everything else was not representative of a 5 star this hotel should not be rated past 3 stars should not cost more than 1500$ per week per person. There seems to be a systematic money saving culture and upcharging tactics at this location to which we were held hostage of. This reflects in the opinions of most except for the short stay customers that probably generate more money for the resort. They also keep the prime rooms aside for short stay customers that spend more over their duration of trip. Barely any shade around the pool and anything more than a chair costs more to sit on and they kick you off asking for money. Pool was under construction and other work being done on infrastructure (grinders etc) lack of fans and proper air conditionning in common areas. NO watersports on the beach all closed. Buffet closed 2 days a week (never saw that before). Rooms were clean but thats about it. Buffet very small and VERY VERY HOT. Blacklisted this one save your money go somewhere else its bareley a 3 star. As for employees, some were great other seemed to be drained and also overwhelmed with the lack of fans and heat in their work areas.
Best customer service ever at this resort, very empathetic and helpful people! I loved the food and variety of it. I also noticed that it is very clean. But what I loved the most was the beach and the spa services they have!!! 10/10 loved everything

DONT COME HERE!!! Would never go here again. Arrived by 12, check in is at 3, but our party of 17 did not receive our rooms till 8pm. 1 couple had a room that smelled like mold then and had to stay in my room and only got a new room the next day at 5pm. We had 2 children on this trip and this waiting in the heat made it very difficult. Both kids ended up having to sleep in their bathing suits and 1 even got a rash due to the lengthy check in having to stay in her wet bathing suit. The shuttles barely ran and when they did, they never had space to pick you up. We had to walk back and forth (1.2) miles from the lobby/hang out area to our room area 2-3 times a day and shuttles never were there to help you. Again with children this was atrocious and made our experience at the resort horrible. Service was also mostly horrible at this place. Buffet tables were never cleaned, we had to chase down the staff to clean the tables, provide cutlery, water/coffees, etc. They also made us chase them down when dinner reservations were confirmed but then canceled last minute. Food was good, shows were good, rooms were fine. Pools were good, etc. My company was great. I have never been on a vacation that caused me this much stress and dissatisfaction. This was supposed to be a relaxing vacation, but we ended each night completely frustrated mainly due to the shuttle and service reasons mentioned above. I wish I never booked this place and went somewhere else. I paid $3000 for me, my husband, and 1 year old for flight and stay for 4 nights so this wasn’t a cheap trip.

This was our 7th visit to EPC and it was a fantastic trip! We were in building 4 top floor the room was beautiful very clean and a great view. I did email ahead and asked for a couple of things in our room and they were there for when we arrived. Check in was very quick and the lady was really friendly. We went out on our first night there and ate at Magna and it was delicious we both had the ribeye and it ws cooked perfectly. It was great to see some friendly faces. We ate at all the restraunts apart from las olas. I have zero negatives about any of them. Intact there was some improvement from last year in seasoning and quality. Our favourite place was the cascade pool and the poolside service from emanuele was great we never had an empty glass the second week we had felix and another lady who were a bit shy at poolside service at first but towards the end they were out asking us what we needed. The only thing I would say is there was no pool concierge checking room numbers or checking on us. I wish they had a hendrix at the cascade pool as well as the other pool. Again he is just the heart and soul of the club staff! We had some pretty stand out staff members whilst we were there they are as follows. Adolfo - oregano and the grill he was just fantastic we didn't want for anything and always greeted us with a smile and ended the night with a hand shake. We also had a warm welcome from Nayomi and Gabriella theyre're wonderful. Adan in the Magna for breakfast and the grill for the evening he cannot do enough for you, always has a little chat and welcomes you back home. Jose-Felix in spice again tendered to our every need, he was always so welcoming and the food in spice was incredible, the dragons kiss was delicious. Our absolute favourite restaurant this year was Chez Isabelle and Raffiel went so far above and beyond for us the food was incredible the service though was outstanding he is so professional and takes great care in what he does. We loved this place so much we ate there the most. The prelude bar is our favourite bar to sit and have a drink and a cigarette after our dinner. Alexandra has been there since i can remember and her service is impeccable she always says hello and makes sure we are all OK and we have chat. However the star of the show along side her is Berroa. He is hands down the best bartender in the entire resort. He made sure we were ”hydrated” his skill of managing that bar was incredible, we even made up our own drink ”hannah sour” he laughed with us, sang with us and honestly made our holiday that little bit better. We cannot wait to come back to see him Alexandra and Hector. 1 thing I was a little unhappy with was the work going on at the cascade pool which we were not told about before hand or upon checking in. It didn't ruine anything and if anything kept the numbers down however I do feel that it should have been mentioned before hand. One other thing which I would like to request is a little ste

I went with my two good friends on our yearly girls trip, and then my mom arrived for her bday. We all loved how beautiful and calm the beach was and all the amenities but we thought the food and drink was not on par with other Secrets or All inclusive hotels we have stayed in. I have stayed at Secrets the Vine Cancun 3 times, Hyatt Zilara Punta Cana, and Hard Rock Los Cabos. Also thought that during the day the pool area was vary boring except during the activities (water aerobics, volleyball, zumba) but it would be cool to have a DJ or louder more fun music playing. It was also very hard to find shade at the pool and the beach, wish there were more chairs with umbrellas. The night entertainment was great at Desires and at the lobby especially the Dj and bands that played more upbeat dancing music, and Black Coffee got everyone to dance and was such a great vibe, we love him. Our concierge/butler - Osvaldy Guerrero Cedano is a true Gem, the best concierge/butler I've ever had. He was super responsive and helped us out at all times. It was my mom's bday and he had the room decorated with cake and Champagne and she loved it. He totally made her day more special. Ultimately I thought that this Secrets was more for couples where most Adults only resorts are a bit more fun and have more of a variety of people of all ages, for example girls trip, bachelorette, bachelor, wedding party. it seemed way more focused for couples and we all felt a bit out of a place. Lastly our room smelled like mold, I wish we had complained and had it changed it because on the last day our Concierge/Butler allowed us to checkout late and then enjoy the resort and use a room just to shower before leaving for our late flight. The room that we used the shower in was the same size but no smell of mold. The service was amazing though, all employees were super nice, kind, helpful and smily they made the atmosphere so great! Thanks for everything!

My family (2 adults and 7 yr old) had a wonderful time at this resort. Beach: Beautiful blue water with sand that wasn't rocky and rough on the feet! I didn't find many remnants of seaweed, so they did a great job of keeping it clean. Waterpark: We loved the lazy river and spent most of our time in it. The bigger slides that adults could ride were not visible from the main section and we did not see any directionals. Lifeguards kindly informed us of where to go for the larger slides. I recommend that you wear water shoes since this is a water park, but also the ground is really hot when you're not in the water. Entertainment: We enjoyed Snick Lounge. Bring cash to put into the machine so that you can play air hockey or billiards pool. Snick Lounge also has retro arcade games for free! We also checked the app to catch where character pop-ups would be to save some $$ and not do character breakfast (although I heard from another guest that the food was worth the $$ since they love lobster). Family Shows: The resort did a great job of putting on nightly shows to entertain families and let the children participate a little. Food: We pretty much ate all meals at Explorers Table (I think it was named something else before??). They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet style. You can also get some items cooked to order at two of the stations there. BurgersPH was a fun experience. We enjoyed Dominican Night to experience local cuisine without having to leave the resort. Service: The staff at the resort were friendly and helpful; although we did run into one male server at the Explorers Table restaurant that wasn't too hospitable. Suite/Room: We booked a swim-up suite which left us disappointed due to the smell in the room and I found many mosquitos flying around our room every day (so they must not treat the outside area for mosquitos). Had I known before booking about the dengue virus (mosquitos transmit) that is rampant in Caribbean and Mexico, I would not have booked a swim-up suite. Other reviewers mention nausea and I wonder if they actually contracted dengue. Also, if you are family that likes to be around others and not secluded, don't splurge on a swim up...the infinity pool is much better and has a swim-up bar!

Our stay at Breathless was incredible; the room was great, the food was delicious, but the whole experience was taken over the top by our VIP concierge, Pablo. We have stayed in many top-rated hotels and resorts all around the world, but we have never felt so safe and comforted as we did at Breathless. We received a text message from our VIP every day about what activities would happen on the property and when. We were also told many times if we had any problems to let him know or if we were looking to have any experiences or see any shows. He was able to connect the dots with everything. We felt like celebrities and because of it we had an amazing trip.

What an EXCELLENT trip! We loved our 7 day stay at Excellence El Carmen. We went just the two of us for my birthday! A few highlights: 1. The most friendly waitstaff ever 2. Lovely rooms (we had a basic room but was still nice) 3. The gym was one of the nicest hotel gyms I’ve ever seen 4. I felt very safe at all times 5. Loved the pool scene - not too crazy/party like but def fun and friendly! A few not so great things: 1. I had some tummy troubles on our second day there - not sure how but it wasn’t pleasant. 2. The food was just okay. Not horrible. Not wonderful. Just ok. A few good meals but overall meh food. 3. Our room was right above the nightly entertainment so it was a bit loud after we went to bed but not awful. All in all, we had a lovely stay! Marco in the piano bar was AWESOME! Definitely go get a chocolate martini from him! Rocio & Juan @ the bar next to the main pool are just WONDERFUL! They always addressed us by name, and Rocio helped me celebrate my birthday the right way! They were fantastic! Thank you!!

Dreams Onyx is a great place to start, especially for families. Pros: The water park. There are three slides that are in working order…two of which are really cool. The lazy river is an awesome touch…not sure why every resort doesn’t have a lazy river. Rooms were really nice and clean…was fully content with rooms and daily service. Bartenders were great…service was impeccable. Our favorite bar was “The Mix” swim up bar in the waterpark pool. Especially Mis amigos Felix, Miguel, Moises, and Jomiset. They were a pleasure to meet, and made the pool experience so enjoyable and the highlight for our family. Drinks were great, but it was their level of service and interjection of fun that made “The Mix” incredible. Areas of Growth: The restaurants are good, not great. Service was always phenomenal, but food was just ok. Bar service is great, as mentioned above, but the resort references top shelf liquor…Stoli was about the best I saw and that was only at select bars. I really don’t need top shelf, but it was advertised. Not enough pool towels. If you didn’t get (pool) towels early, you had to go back to your hotel room and grab bath towels.

The resort itself was beautiful but there were pros and cons. More cons than I wanted. Pool closed at 6 pm so no night swimming which left little to do in the evenings. Drinks were weak, drank all day long with no effect. Food was the worst. The buffet was terrible and was really our only option since the snack bar ran out of burgers, basically lived on chips and salsa the entire trip. The restaurants which you needed to make reservations for was a joke. The reservation app didn’t work so you had to wake am up at 6 am to stand in line until 8 am in hopes of getting a reservation. The service was not pleasant. Workers badly made eye contact with you and you always felt like you were bothering them when requesting a beverage or asking a question. The resort has potential if they stopped it up on service, food, drinks and entertainment.

Cap Cana Punta Cana|3.44km from city center
A short but great trip. it was our first time in Cap Cana, and as soon as we walked into TRS the service was absolutely amazing. I am a travel agent, so this was more to promote my experience to my future clients. The welcome drink was amazing, the atmosphere was very modern and chic. Both guest service personnel were great. Stephanie our butler truly went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. The resort is small but just what we were looking for as we have experienced larger resorts, and the service is not the best. Javier the Chef at TRS was also very nice and attentive. Very skillful chef. The food was top of line. My favorite was the ceviche, and the rib steak at the Caribbean restaurant, typical Dominican food which I love. The pool and marina were amazing! Love that they play bachata and Dominican music as we are in DR. Not a beach resort, however always beautiful to see the sunset on the marina. The room was very comfortable with a beautiful view of the marina. We will most definit3ley stay again and for more days. Will definitely recommends! Thank you for the service!

I recently returned from a nine-day stay at Zoetry Agua Punta Cana celebrating a milestone birthday with nine friends. The goal of the trip was rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. We accomplished all three thanks to the amazing staff at this resort. There are many lovely hotels in Punta Cana but what distinguishes this resort is what everyone says in their reviews - the people. The frontline staff at this resort welcome you in like family and make you feel like a valued guest. A common refrain is 'es un placer' but honestly it was my pleasure to meet and get to know so many of these amazing people. All guests are assigned a concierge who helps to coordinate anything you need. Alejandro expertly attended to all 10 women in our group (no small feat). I looked forward to dinner every night because I knew Soranyi, Maria, Yohanna, Jose, Manuel, and Nathali would be waiting with a big smile to ask about our day and share some laughs over a delicious dinner. Celebrating my birthday with this crew on the beach was a highlight of my stay. The staff at Indigo - Leidy, Fernando, Naomi, Oliver, and Merlyn - got to know us so well we didn't even have to ask for the little extras like an extra glass of ice or another delicious fruit plate. Room service is included at Zoetry and Juan Carlos delivers anything you need or want with a smile. He even came in early on our last day to bring the group coffee on the beach as we met the sunrise. There is no shortage of things to do at this resort coordinated by the incomparable Dalisy, Jason, and Emmanuel Gilberto. A man of many talents Emmanuel even serenaded the group one morning. :-) The entertainment happened most nights at the bar and our favorite bartender, Jordy, created signature cocktails to match the tastes and curiosities of every member of the group, even treating us to some theatrics involving fire on the last night. I never learned the names of the landscapers but the care they take with every perfectly placed orchid and carefully pruned bush makes this resort a lush tropical oasis. My favorite place on the property was the spa. This tranquil escape is expertly managed by Perla. Her team personalizes your experience down to the selection of flavored water after your treatment to correspond with your unique health needs. Whether you are there for a treatment or to take advantage of the complimentary daily hydrotherapy you are treated to a warm welcome from Wanda, and invited to enjoy the courtyard that is lovingly attended by Dominga. I had several treatments from expert therapists like Johaira and Jocelyn. If you stay here you MUST get a treatment at the spa. I am grateful to all of these people for warmly caring for me and my friends during our stay. No resort is perfect, but the people mentioned here allow the management at Zoetry to cover the flaws that might otherwise knock a star or two off of this rating. If you do visit please give everyone a big hug for me. They are the real heroes of this resort

Cabeza de Toro Punta Cana|12.43km from city center
This was our first time in Dominicana and we chose this hotel because our tour operator said it was new and we actually liked the pics (they are real by the way, not like in the majority of the hotels where they post only the best to attract guests). First thing that impressed us was that all staff was wearing masks at all times everywhere: inside and outside! No matter if they were showing sport exercises, cleaning or dancing in the lobby in the evening, they were always in masks! Then sanitizers everywhere . Temperature control at the entrance to the hotel and to all restaurants. The staff also makes sure you are wearing a mask and gloves when picking food. Everyone was polite helping and smiling all the time. I will name only some people here just because I didn't take photos of all names, so sorry if I didn't name you. All receptionists were ready to help and solve any problem you have. Bieavenido (thanks for late night talk, now I know when is the Independence day in Dominicana!😊). All our requests were satisfied within 5-15minutes (not Dominican minutes👆🤣). Guys at the restaurant all who were welcoming, thank you for giving us masks and gloves when we were too overwhelmed with holiday activities and forgot to get them🙈. Thank you for always wishing us good morning, nice day and smiling! Guys who take orders inside the restaurants and my Spanish teachers😅 Ramon, Antonio, Wilsoooooon Rincon, muchos gracias! They always ask you how you are, remember your orders and bring them before you think about it. Mariia Soriano and Andy from lobby bar- the smiliest girl and boy ever! Thank you for your Russian and Ukrainian, keep learning, next time I come I will check up on your progress! 🤣 Animation team- you are beyond human abilities!!! Fly yoga, yoga on surf boards, volleyball, water polo(I think it was water polo😅), water bikes in the swimming pool, sexy dancing, jumping on little trampolines..Ruben & Jason, my sister Debora(best breeds from you!❤)and my evening salsa teacher Coca -Cola(don't lose uno in bachata anymore😉). Love you guys! 🥰 I will always remember all of you, how you invited to take part in the activities, how you were showing everything step by step, your patience, your unique personalities. The best chef on this planet Wander Montilla with amazingly beautifully looking and heavenly tasting dishes. 😋 Thank you for your unforgettable dinner at the stake house restaurant! Also, the cooking show in Asian restaurant is worth seeing! The food is amazing and the products are high quality. We are more than happy with our rest!
